  • Yes a slick, Hip, Go Go style 70's space opera from england that seem to copy a little bit of STOS in dress tho a bit cheesy imo but intertaining anyways if you like me like space women in Ah Hum mini skirts for LoL. ; )

  • ...used to watch this amazin series in '76-' 77 at the romanian national tv channel ... never lost a single episode ...I still remember the last one when they finally caught an alien alive , but he died in the surgery room ....I went to my neighbour to watch that episode together and her mom gave us candies to not cry anymore after the end ,,,,good times.....

  • This series just BEGS for a modern day remake!

It's a great and unusual twist on the "alien invasion" story. Instead of a massive invasion like in "Independence Day" or "War of the Worlds", Earth is under slow but steady attack by mysterious aliens who want to use us to maintain their own dying bodies.

  • @farmerne Ever played X-COM: UFO Defense? (NOT the new cookie-cutter shooter by 2k, the 1994 original)

It's also known as UFO: Enemy Unknown, and is pretty much literally a video game version of this show. (though with 80s style instead of 70s)

  • I was so hot for Gabrielle Drake when I was a teenager.

Come to think of it, I still am!

  • loved the series , we had the best childhood ever

  • you can buy this series now on history channel website.

  • Kids today, have nothing like this. Boy where we so so lucky. I mean just look at the womens outfits, the cars, the music etc. Amazing.

  • @CplPike I concur with everything you wrote down!

  • man, I miss this show....

  • If there is a better intro to a tv series, i ain't seen it

  • I remember one of the first episodes, it was said that the reason the aliens were coming here was that they suffered from hereditary sterility . I other words, if your parents couldn't have any children......chances are, neither can you :). I loved that show as a kid.. Saw every single episode.

  • Best pulp ever on TV !

  • Very good quality on this clip. Even the tempo in the theme appears to be faster than most videos on YouTube. I like the fact that you can hear the Teleprompter in the background.

  • im lookin forward to the 2011 movie. hopefully itll be like star trek and keep the spirit of the original, while adding new things to the formula

  • Kind of strange to see it in color.

  • I was born in 1973, I don't remember ever watching this..It's really interesting, the ship , vehicle and moon colony designs are really modern looking. I bet the new reproduction with all of it's new technology , FX , won't be as good as the original 70s funky sci-fi version.

  • Damn, have not seen this since I was like 3 maybe 4. 40 years!

  • Where can I see full episodes of this show? This is so unusual! I love it!!!

  • @AgentPepsi1

You can buy the restored the episodes on DVD. Try Amazon or Ebay. It is one of the best restorations ever.

  • lol I remember this show and that chick at :10 was so hot

  • One of my favorite series when I was a kid during the early 1970s. Looking forward to the new version starring Ali Larter as Col. Virginia Lake. Who's playing Lt. Ellis?

  • As a child (preschool) I had repeated dreams of being on a ship of some sort, I had a battle station and to get to it I had to slide down a chute like they do in this movie, it brought it all back so vividly that it really creeped me out.

  • If they remade this today with right cast it would do very well. One can only hope.

  • Nice Nice!! Greate series and music!!

  • Very Good serie and excelent trombones in the music arrangement.

  • Beautiful transfer!

  • N°1 EVER.

  • the BEST fantascentific films series to all times, bellissimo

  • Amazon Raphper.Since 3 ore 4 Years

  • This looks so cool! Does anyone know about a DVD release?

  • The eight DVD series was released by A&E DVD (yes.. that A&E) in 2002.

  • it is on netflix. also amazon got it I believe but be careful, I had to get a dvd form england that was formatted for that aree,

I got the six million dollar man bionic woman, bigfoot and wildboy, but they would not work on america dvds players.

so i got one of theirs, one great britins amazon website they have a better stuff on it that you cannot get here in usa

  • I loved this show! Why can't they have shows like this anymore with HOT go-go girls in short skirts that actually act sexy. Now-a-days it's hard to tell the men from the (butch-like) women because the writers are so obcessed with having the women act like tough men.

  • Bellissima sigla!!Musica stupenda.Grazie

  • 1980... wow, if 1980 would have been like that...

There's only one name that almost belonged to 1980 (had he lived a bit longer): SID Vicious

  • Wow, did that bring back some memories. THANKS.

  • I always wondered how the docking of the skydiver with the submarine could be managed. It was never shown in the series :)

By the way: I read that they plan a movie based on this series in a few years.

  • My Favorite was the Sub but the Moonbase actually shot down more UFos.

  • One of the Go-Go Girls is Nick Drake sister, I think... Take care, God bless...

  • My Dad is OBSESSED with this and has been going absolutely barmy over the fact tat I can get it up on the computer...he stands there dancing =D

  • @carrotsNcrispies Dancing to those purple head girls on the moon base no doubt. LOL

  • @EmpireLS56KW

I am only 20 now so didn't even know what this was when he asked for it but now I too do dance along to it!

  • @carrotsNcrispies Some things NEVER go out of style

  • This British production aired from 1970-1973.

  • What an awesome flashback to my teen age years!!!

  • Remake has been anounced

  • when, when, when???? I just hope they dont bugger this up like they did with Thunderbirds.

  • The Moon Base looks like a swastika.

  • This is one of my all-time favorite British-made TV series. I love this trailer!

  • They need a new version but steeped in old world production values

  • @karanaman68 I too dance to it HAHAHAH!

  • Barry Gray did an immaculate job on this theme! In 1975 some of the the same sets were used in "Space 1999" as "Moonbase Alpha", then re-used again later on for "Blake's Seven". The only real problem with this series is the damn vague aliens! just like the mysterons from Gerry Anderson's "Captain Scarlet"! With scripts that went into some detail as to who the aliens were this could have been an awesome hit! - instead we have go-go girls in silver skirts, purple wigs and gay looking male models!

  • Come on admit it!! The go-go girls in silver skirts are HOT!!!

  • I wish I still had my UFO lunch box!

  • penso che con spazio 1999 sia stata la migior serie tv sugli ufo...io avveo i modellini degli shado e degli itercettatori che sparavano sti caz.. di bombe...mamma che bei ricordi

  • Genial!! era mi serie favorita.Gracias a quien hizo posible volver a verla y revivir hermosos recuerdos.

  • Genial!! Grandes recuerdos, era mi serie favorita!! Gracias a quien hizo posible volver a verla.

  • Does anybody have the CBS season preview trailer for "UFO" from 1973???

  • Gabrielle Drake who played Lt. Ellis on the Moon base...oh yes! Silver mini dress and purple wig for the win!

  • This was the best show of the 1960's-1970's genre-the British Star Trek, very high production values, good miniatures, good writing. Take a look at some of the other science-fiction series-DR Who(the Daleks looked like tricked out trashcans). The series is dated you can see the 60's mod influence in clothing style and hair but the spacecraft and vehicles are for the time very hi-tech. I wish that someone would pitch UFO the movie.

  • The 'pacing' of British shows are considerably different...I think this show had 'fantastic' sets and creativity..but maybe the directors & scripts were not geared for 'American' audiences! I am not taking anything away from this show..I like it a lot but probably why the American attention span in the 70's was 'changing' so much. Cheers!

  • my dad bought me the space fighter with the big rocket on the front. I LOVE THAT TUNE!and the shot of her arse.and the silver skirty one. hadnt even started school...

  • I remember this show. Loved it! Notice how despite all the "advanced technology" they were still using IBM selectric typewriters?

  • Yes,I think they were still popular in "1980".

  • The Aliens could never hit shit but then what do you expect when you are turning all the time and trying to fire at the same time its hard.

  • Cool show! But ever wonder why all the UFOs on each episode looked the same?

  • In the story, they were from the same planet. In reality, it was probably cheaper to build several identical models.

  • Ahhh, agreed! Thanks for the info!

  • The series was recorded in the late 60's / early 70's and purported to SHOW what the 1980's would look like. Sorry, NO Deloreans back then but the gull door feature was cool. Ironically it was the American Dirtibution that KILLED the series. ITV could not afford to make the show without American syndication. When that dissappeared, Anderson opted for another space series taking place even later in time, "Space 1999". most folks don't realize that Moonbase Alpha was SUPPOSED to be for UFO.

  • Thanks for the great info. I had no idea what killed that show. I wonder, or perhaps I dont understand, but, if Anderson went ahead and made "1999", then why did he not continue with UFO? Thanks!

  • Gabriel Drake was my boyhood dream in bed at nights like every boy had when they watched this show. This show was fantastic in every way including the delorean straker drove to his office. But what made it a greater mystery is the aliens we saw and why we never knew much about them except they needed body parts to stay alive. Weird but great genre.

  • Very sexy, baby! Love the babes and the car.

  • Man, this was 70's,not 60's and I always loved the purple hair biscuit commitee

  • Groovy baby!!!! Those Purple haired babes in futuristic metallic mini skirts are shagadellic!!!! Where's Austin Powers???? I'm certain that the liquid breathing aliens are secretly working for Dr. Evil!!!! I wonder if they take cats to harvest their hair to transplant on Mr. Bigglesworth????? Just remember.....when Mr Bigglesworth gets upset people die!!!!!!!!!

  • U F O.........number one ever

  • Yes, robertmark, you're right. It was my AB-SO-LUT favorite serial when I was a child in the late Sixties!

  • Ha ha! I used to love this show when I was a kid. It is so camp! Not that I realised that at the time but I used to love the purple wigs and silver lurex catsuits. Commander Straker always looked so handsome in a rather sinister and creepy sort of way. How groovy is the music? Does anyone know what the Andersons have done lately, if anything?

  • Oh, I remember 1980, it was just like that... I miss my dinky little waistcoat. Great stuff, this, Gerry Anderson knew how to build tension in a show, and there was no-one better than him when it came to explosions!

  • This show used to be played on "Nighttime" at ITV back in the 90's. But I believe they are replaying this show on ITV 4. Nobody ever got to see what the aliens were. They just seemed to take over people and make them wear silver space suits while breathing green oxygen-supplying liquids.

It's amazing the creativity the UK had back all those years ago.

  • i think its important that we start a petition for the introduction of fishnet stockings and silver suits into the military. whadaya say?

  • Why don't our astronauts wear silver mini skirts and fishnet shirts?

  • AH! I love the old TV shows when the men were men and the women were SEXY!

  • Hell, baby...those chicks may still be wearing metallic skirts, purple wigs,, shoppping at WalMart, and be really hot for those Grand -Dads, driving the rocketships protecting YOUR ass from alien invaders and unwanted organ transplants. Don't HATE!!!! Bwahaha-hahaha. Chuck...(who grew up watchin' this when he was very, very, young!!!)

  • That's like soooo 70's...in a good way.

  • grew-up with this series TOO. It was the best series when I was young.

  • Nice chicks and tape drives.

That's what it's all about, man! Protecting them from "euefos" (UFOs). I love how they pronounce it in such a way that it's a word instead of an acronym.

  • STILL the best opening sequence of all time (leaving out it was one of the best TV series of all time that puts nearly everything since else to shame, except perhaps the new Doctor Who)

  • what a stylish series...uk rocks!

  • I grew-up with this series, Besides the futuristic vehicles, I personaly liked the girls with the pink hair and the silver mini-skirts!

I think that was when this particular taste got started!

    Ja Ja Ja!

  • Purple Hair !!!

  • Quite funny how they think back then the world in the eighties would look like. But I think they should be very impressive by our mobiletelephones :)

  • I have been a video editor for 20 years as a result of seeing this title sequence when I was a kid.

Blinding editing, unmatched at the time apart from its predecessor Mission Impossible.

  • yes thank you - all my yesterdays

  • Thank you STRAKER!!!!

  • Wow!..Does that bring back a lot of memories!!..I loved that show when i was a kid.

  • And might I add the sexiaest show of the 1970s. Look at all those hot buff men in fishnet tops. so hot!

  • MAN!!!! This rocks, it was the supreme sci-fi series in the seventies!!! Great characters, no sense of humor, no idiot jokes, no "warping" technology or other x-treme efects... just great!

  • I loved this show! It was so cool in its look and eerie in its tone. I really love this theme song, too. I also love the look of the Moonbase girls. They were so sexy! God! Why don't they make make shows like "UFO" anymore? Today, it's all the same crap on every channel! What a real fucking shame.

  • excellent show and music, back on tv at last

  • I LOVED this show! I had the UFO lunch box in grade school!

  • One thing was prophetic about this show, was what would be the soon-to-be "new-wave/punk" fashion of the 80s.... the purple (and other colored) hair the ladies onboard the moonbase were donning. Also, check out that hot-rod from the opening, it looks like a futuristic Plymouth Duster GT built for the 1980-era (imagine driving one of THOSE to and from workevery day!!!). The Britons have ALWAYS had one-up (or even two-up if you include Space: 1999) on us when it comes to TV sci-fi shows.

  • Great theme music. Right up there with Hawaii 5-0 and Danger Man

  • great memories .. would make cool ring tone!!

  • my favourite programme of all time

  • ¡Amazing! Thank you foruploading this. Thilo

  • Always loved this opening. One of the coolest ever.

  • love!

  • LOVE this show

  • They werent too far off on the technology....

  • How wrong !thinking 1980 was going to be so Modern!

  • doom

  • Cult!!

  • My favorite series!
