I'm not a shallow being. It should be mentioned that both Tavis & Dambisa are both loosing their hair. To be so young. One is wearing a WIG and the other has hair coloring covering many bold spots in unusual places. Signs of to much intellectualism (European Ideology) and not enough spiritualism (Universal Ideology). They both are very beutiful (inside & out).
She makes a lot of sense here, but they left out the role of the central banks in western countries ever increasing debt. In America, we have a monetary system with debt as the foundation. The Fed only prints more money when the government borrows from it and thus goes deeper into debt. We need monetary reform, where we have a currency that is issued by the government and not a privately owned central bank. If the government can issue bonds, then it can also issue currency. End the Fed.
“The central objective in decolonising the African mind is to overthrow the authority which alien traditions exercise over the African. This demands the dismantling of white supremacist beliefs, and the structures which uphold them, in every area of African life. It must be stressed, however, that decolonisation does not mean ignorance of foreign traditions; it simply means denial of their authority and withdrawal of allegiance from them.”
She makes so much sense with such simplicity. The West has lost. America forgot to develop the brains of its youth. The future is thus bleak. Americans are conditioned to be entertained and the sneaky politicians are providing a great performance.sad
The United States has gone from owning to owing debts to other countries. China, Japan, Saudi Arabia this countries have lent a substantial amount to the states, so i am very perplexed that they have siphoned most of the money to the military industrial complex and private sectors. The wisoncin revolt is just the beginning of the working class and middle class rising up. Hopefully it will continue!
Dr. Moyo is brilliant, and (too damned) polite. Her book discusses macroeconomic policy choices and consequences regarding capital, labor and productivity. Tavis Smiley repeats the populist meme, when the first question he asks is microeconomic: "but what about overpaid executives?"
Aside from the irrelevance of microeconomic examples to macroeconomic policies, executive pay comes from VOLUNTARY sources: customers and investors. Public sector pay comes from the taxpayers.
I'm surprised that she didn't recognize the corporatist elements of the financial situation in conjunction with the shift towards a welfare state.
