A leopard could easily sneak up to a hyena when its guard is down momentarily as it feeds on a carcass.attacking the hyena.biting the throat or possibly even the back of the head. @fmoa That's more or less true. The Male lion is pretty much all that stands in the way of a pack of hyena's. But this is in no way a regular scene in africa. Leopards are a killing machine but there still smart and will rarely put there body on the line for a fight with another preditor. Thats why this interests me. Sure the loepard has the means to kill a single hyena but its rare that you'll see one apply the same bite to the throat that they use on an antelope and actually prove it.

I seen a video of a leopard taking a full grown zebra up a tree. I couldnt believe my eyes. I think it may be possible for a leopard to defeat a jaguar cuz of speed and agility, but the jaguar is a seriously dangerous cat.

I seen a video of a leopard taking a full grown zebra up a tree. I couldnt believe my eyes. I think it may be possible for a leopard to defeat a jaguar cuz of speed and agility, but the jaguar is a seriously dangerous cat.

leopards in general are secretive, male leopards are even more so, most clips of leopard vs hyena on NGC or animal planet shows a female leopard getting robbed by a female hyena (female hyenas are much bigger than male hyenas) and if u add up the fact that hyenas are a pack animal its a better decision for a leopard to give up its meal but u put male leopard vs a female hyena its leopard all day, leopards are bigger stronger faster the only downside is the bite force compared to the hyena

the leopard don`t kill it i just really kick that hyenas ass, but that hyena is not a big one, I hve seen female hyenas at 100 kg and the biggest leopard shoot is on 91 kg hyenas often are about 60- 90 kg and leopard 60 - 80 full grown female hyena is stonger and bigger. but the leopard is a better fighter 50/50. but will never fight to death. hyena can survive a attack from 4 lioness and wil not be killed by a singel leopard. a leopard can also survive a attack from a grupe of lions.

Nope, leopard is much bigger than a hyena (keep in mind that male hyenas are smaller than females). The leopard's problem is that where there's one hyena, there's usually half a dozen more.

Pound for pound the leopard might be the strongest cat alive. A full grown male leopard can easily kill an adult male hyena. Just too much agility, power, killing weapons.

@Mauke08 male leapords depending on where they are from average between 80 and 120 lbs and in certain areas about 60 lbs mostly hyeanas a large female can weigh well over 200lbs so i think hyenas are a lil bigger and they have a much stronger bite force than the leapord and they travel in packs advantage hyenas

it seems that hyena was dead. the way the leopard is hold its neck is as if it is about to drag it to a bush or up a tree. a leopard can hold its on against a hyena but it wouldnt go to kill one as its too dangerous.

@chinwutai to be larger and more powerful is not priority in the animal kingdom. What can the hyena do? It can bite. The leopard? Has longer teeth even than a polar bear and razor sharp claws, 2 inches long. The leopard has not the bite force of a hyena, but his bite will hurt at least as much as the hyenas bite, due to it's way longer teeth. Also, a hit with it's claws into the face (nose or even eyes) is a very, very painful experience for every opponent. quality of weapons often decides!

Full grown female spotted hyenas (females are slightly bigger) weigh up to about 140lbs (and a maximum of 180 only in Zambia), a full grown male African leopard can reach about 200lbs. Not only are they bigger and stronger, they're faster and have claws. Don't know where you got your information from.

@chinwutai im sorry but a leopard is much heavier and and far stronger than a hyena. the leopard is known to attack lone hyenas all the time. infact the only cat who doesnt kill solitary hyenas on sight is a cheetah because they can not risk injury because they would not be able to hunt.

its very rare for a leopard to kill not only in daylight, but a hyena. hyenas are mean and dangerous, even one, so the leopard cant risk injury to attack it, as leopards are solitary animals. you wont find a video of a leopard attacking a hyena, thats how rare it is.
