Adore this video! Thank you so much for the work you put into this. I adore the music -- and getting to watch Derek Jacobi as Cadfael along with this gorgeous music only makes it that much nicer:-)!!
@QueenieLizzie Historically many of the Popes were nasty, but Moorish and Saracen armies were attacking Europe 400 years before the Crusades, but this fact is all too often ignored.
Your description, RectaPete, reminds me of my Grandfather being told by his brother that he was raising cannon-fodder. My Grandfather fought in WWI & my uncle in WWII & both survived.
Does Cadfael abhor his Crusades in the sense of the mission & then find a son who goes on a subsequence Crusade while his dad is a monk who abhors war?
It looks like a good series & no doubt troublesome of the heart somewhat.
I love the song & have all McKennett's albums. This is one of her best songs.
@ABAisSCIENCE Cadfeal never actually condemned war, he just said that he would not take sides in the one that was happening in his own day. Historically, this would be more plausible.
historical events here are only to fill the book (minutes in the film). Main themes are simple love stories with nice clothes (girl who plays boy, old man finds his son and so on).
Then show your support for the series and buy the DVD's. I personally don't have the capabilities (or the gall) to post an entire episode on YouTube. A music video is fun, interesting, and an opportunity to add a personal, creative accent to the series. If you want the series, buy the dvd's. Don't wait for others to get them for you.
I'd suggest Barnes and Noble, that's where I found them. I'm sure you can easily find the DvDs online. The books you'll have a harder time with, since they're somewhat older. I think any major local library would have copies, that or you'd have to go back to the internet to find them (on Amazon or another site). Happy hunting!
Actually, Cadfael is based in the early 12th century while Kingdom of heaven is only set about fifty or sixty years later. It's probably the closest thing you could ever get.
i did not mean literally, i meant the scene of battle, not that he was at the siege of Jerusalem which is likely to have been after his death as Cadfael was written to have been born in 1080.
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I had a lot of fun making this video! Since it's kind of hard for one to understand the vid if one isn't a Cadfael fan, I'm glad that I'm getting feedback from CadFans!

As of 2/15/10, you can buy the DVD's on Amazon for about $133.00( U.S.).
This the complete serie. I like it because
like brother Cadfael, I'm a Convert . We have the tendency to take our Faith
seriously, and with a vein of practicality.
I also love it for it's attention to detail and historical content .

I does not like Romanic Catalic church. It's that pagan culture in it and the pope Urban with his hatred to Muslim.

a beef with the Church, feel free to take it somewhere hate and rumor thrive.

Great Video! I love Cadfael! but i cant say as much for Kingdom of heaven the historical inaccuracy is too great for me to be fully interested.

But I like them in spite of this.

Where it cuts to the Kingdom of Heave, although it is a bit out of the correct time period, it could be like a flashback for Cadfael!
