  • Love this track, you are so talented. I'm going to get me one of them Resolians!

do you know what the difference in tone is from a steel bodied reso and a brass bodied one?

    Cheers

    Doug

  • Doug, I have two steel-bodied Nationals, and this little brass-bodied resolian. See video "My Resophonic Guitar Collection". But I wouldn't want to tell anyone that I know the diff between steel and brass. I know there's a diff between the two Nationals and the little Resolian - higher quality (workmanship, finish and such), which does not affect the tone of the Resolian at all. There's also diff, in volume, but the Nationals have much larger bodies. But any differences between...

  • brass and steel have never been important to my playing style; I will leave this to some expert discussions you might find on the web.

I love all three of my guitars. Each is wonderful.

I will say this about the little Resolian: No collection is complete without one. It has a flat fretboard, making it more suitable for bottleneck guitar than guitars crafted with a radius neck, but a tad more difficult to fret. I once had a Dobro Model 90 brass Duolian, which the Resolian is superior..

  • to; but it is not superior to the Nationals, but is a cost-effective close second.

I fear I've rambled. But you asked me hard thing.

I will play the Resolian anytime I play harmonica because I don't want that drool and spittle all over my expensive guitars; it might make them rust.

  • Thanks Hoopiejohn,

I've just ordered a Resolian!....lol....I've been playing a little parlour guitar for years, but only recently been experimenting with open tunings and bottleneck. Your vids have inspired me loads and given my playing a new lease of life so thanks!.....cant wait to get that little baby!

  • What's up with the "keep out of reach of monkey sign."

  • I spent a lot of the '70s busking up and down the eastern seaboard (where allowed by law) with my little friend "Chirpo" - a Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta). He loved me, was good for tips, but could be very mischievous. He would occasionally bite; and once when posing with a family for a photo, he jumped on top of the mother's head and shit in her hair; and he always tried to hump any small dogs and puppies that people walked by with.

So I had the sign made; but my attorney advised me..

  • that the sign was an admission of hazard, and precluded me from bringing same into public places.

So when a nice Cambodian refugee couple running a barbeque stand in Seaside Park, New Jersey, offered to purchase him, they got a new family member and lovable pet, and I got some new tires (recaps really) for my '66 Dodge Dart.

That sign is all I have to remember him by.

  • That was awesome mate! 5*s!

  • this is great!!

  • whats up with the ski mask dude. you rock. take it off and show us what you got

  • The US Federal Witness Protection Service advised me that if I must perform, I should do so in disguise. What would you do if Nico("Chipper-Shredder") Bugatti was after you?

  • Fantastic!
