  • Heart breaking and so so beautiful. How exquisite to be able to put together such beautiful string of words that convey so well and beautifully feelings like this. That can touch the reader so deeply. What power lies in words - what an artist. Incredible I have read this poem many times in his book "Visiting Hours". Buy it if you can. You will not regret it.

  • This poem hits so close to home. Every time I hear it, or it comes into my head I just can't help but shed at least a few tears. My grandfather passed away from cancer and he was the last person that should have deteriorated from this awful disease, if anyone should. I have this poem memorized. It helps not to be so sad if I say it along with him.

  • OMG ... i love this .... thanks for posting the original version

  • thankyou for posting the original, it changes the context of the poem for me

  • I truly apologize. I came back and listened to it again, to see why you would lie to me, only to realize you were not.

I have heard this poem a thousand times and it has made me cry just as many. It is one of my favorite poems.

In the video that I heard it, it begins when he begins; there is no girl. Therefore, when I heard a girl for like a minute of this one, I didn't bother continuing to listen and I was extremely angry.

    Once again, I apologize.
