Nice video. I think Adler is onto something....in some ways, the movement towards social interest seems like a movement towards maturity/community and away from narcissism and despair. With regards to religion, I think it is true that religion can in some cases be a negative force which separates people from others, but that it can just as easily help make people more mature and more connected with others and the world at large; the latter possibility seems to be more of Adler's view.
I finally understand! thank you! on third year trying to achieve bachelors in psychology. now i understand - so much easier than trying to read and put it all together. Sad how ppl r so crippled by inferiority feelings... It's like a 'thanatos' gone wild - keeps us constantly detoxifying ourselves with negative thoughts and beliefs... crippling negative beliefs that makes us act in ways that certainly impacts our happiness and ultimate health - thanks so much!
i liked the video, but im just dissapointed by adlers view on religion. Its so short-sighted, to believe that the fear of hell makes u a "better" person. Just horrible
@Serpico261 What were you watching? This guy's view of Adler (whether it gets Adler correct or not) is that people take comfort from religion. I'm not religious and even I see that. Was this post a joke?
@Serpico261 - but unfortunately true - some people NEED religion, a Big Brother or Super Ego to keep them on the straight & narrow - look at all the people in jail who turn to religion as a way to counteract their dark side and as a way to force themselves ( Stick & Carrot) to do good. And for these people it works.

Do we have free will? Control in environment is achieved by a sharpened discriminative control. Ray,B.(1969). Selective attention: the effects of combining stimuli which control incompatible behavior. Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 12, 539-550
No free will does not eliminate truth in religion or allow man to escape judgement as conditioning begins by external stimulus (no free will), but directed mostly by thinking behavior. Thinking itself being stimulus for further thought.
Well I appreciate text below, "that explains a lot." I laugh at text, "where do I get more?" as it is offered at the end.
Adler was indeed correct to leave Freud (a fool). This video or Adler give a good picture of man, but still conjecture. If we wish to understand an inferiority complex then we will have to ask how it was conditioned in early life or how did the environment change for the adult who did not have one & now does.
Skinner is the key. Behaviorism is turning inwards just now.
Behaviorism. Pal, I dare not ask for an explanation...2- books for you (take with water, synapses need fluid). First, Noam Chomsky's "THE ESSENTIAL CHOMSKY" book will bring you up to speed on: Behaviorism's death. It's been a slow death and an even longer funeral procession..(check out Chomsky's 1959 review of Skinner's "Verbal Behavior") Cognitive got it's boost from Prof. Chomsky, but psych will always lack in theory & form until schools of thought are pragmatic, your 2nd book "Republic"..
@sherfriedman, I don't know if you know this but behaviorism has been publishing scientifically reviewed information that shows it is scientific and still is. I see psychology is complaining about behaviorism usurping it in their meetings. Chomsky is laughed at by the scientific community. Care to explain what you think Chomsky has scientifically proven? Care to explain why you think "Republic" is a great read? What did "Republic" scientifically prove?
Thanks. I enjoyed your presentation.

I always found him quite affirming, especially compared to Freud.

The top 3 General Characteristics of The underlying law of nature are:

Google it – as a start.
The empirical process for identifying the underlying law of nature was discovered in 2008. Soon we may all do so.
