that is a great sound, I have never been able to get that sound of a les paul, Great job, Like the runs, I have a mesa Express with the 6L6 tubes, and I can get also a great clean-- Mesa 's can do great cleans, to bad they do not market them against fender, the Fender twin is great ,just to heavy
first of all the pick-ups are 57 classics. i played it over an old fender ps 300 top from 1977 it is a realy loud amp with 300watt but i think an old fender twin from the 70s has the same sound...a mesa boogie mark 3 or trem-o-verb sounds also good if you want to play jazz...i used just one effect ...a boss dd3 delay...the strings are daddario...but gibson vintage reissue strings sounds even better, which i usually use
what were you amp and guitar settings? i have a les paul classic and have been trying to get a jazz sound out of it.

@USPSAman Try different picks! For example, the Dunlop Jazz Stubbies sound really great!

i don´t have the money for a gibson, and even if i had it, i wouldn´t spend it on it, do you think an epiphone should be good for a jazzy tone?

@rod3067 I have an Epiphone Les Paul that sounds really good clean. Try a few Epis, and if they sound good...they are good!

this sounds fantastic, i actually prefer the sound of solidbodies for jazz

@bigassmatic
Solidbodys really give that definite tone, but the hollowbody does add some warmth.

Ah, a kindred spirit. Now I know that I'm not crazy wringing this kind of sound of an LP. I go with .11 D'Addario flatwounds.

What scale/mode are you using?

i like the sound very much...i'm also using a les paul too...anyway hope to see more of your song ^^

I too would like to know what gauge strings you use, as I just bought a Les Paul and would like to squeeze a sweet jazz tone out of it also.
I threw some 11-52s on it, but I think it will probably need at least 12s to sound jazzy. I'll just have to experiment.

i usually use 10-46s gibson vintage reissue...these are my favorite ones and i play it on every guitar ..no matter if it´s a strat or a les paul
Blueser66 3 years ago
I recently discovered the Gibson reissue strings. They are now the only strings I use across all my guitars.

it's all in the fingers, man. pickups, strings and gimmicks will only get you so far.

I agree to a point , but a crummy amp is still a crummy amp, but I agree with you,it is in the fingers

great, thanks for the reply...last question, do you use 10's 11's or 12's for your jazz sound on the les paul....
