I knew the minute I watched the behind the scenes interviews with the developers this franchise was in deep deep trouble. Jeremy Fasel comes off like a homeless ADHD street lunatic, and what is with the "Neo" wannabe? And these are the jabronis in charge of game design and decisions? Oy vey!

i love how they say that it won't be HARDER if you choose a different class, but it will be different. i think if you're a person who plays mostly in an offensive fashion, it will automatically be harder to play as defense or support. obviously you wouldn't choose the latter two options, but if you wanted to make it harder on yourself, choose a different play style. :)

I've been playing closed beta for a few days now. Its a really good game. Once you level up a little bit, you get some good stuff unlocked and it gets really fun. Graphics and atmosphere of the maps is great. Best so far in C&C .

I know because dow 2 is kinda tending to a different audience and this will try to tend to that audience but dow 2 is so much more solid, Plus Sc2 beta is infact coming out this monh like u said so it will not have any audience for this game, traditional rts fans get SC2 while RTT RTS hybrid fans get dow 2 and this can't contend with those powerhouses.

lol, the player progression systems is just more visible now, think about it. in old CnC games you started with basic units (infintry, dogs) and the further you PROGRESSED though the campaign you got more guys. and online/skirmish had tech lvls from 1-10 that you could choose. so people bitching over unlocking stuff is stupid because it has ALWAYS been their. only difference is their is no base building (besides turrets/superweapons) and this game actually involves more than 1 unit type spams.

In my humble opinion, I really think both the C&C and Red Alert franchises have emphasized game play to such an extent that they no longer include the drama, depth, and more mature themes of previous iterations. These games could have shown the moral divide of Nod and GDI in C&C, and the Socialist vs Capitalist consequences in RA much better and really make the game play more attached to the cut scenes, art & background stories they represent. But instead it's become way too goofy and generic.

no, red alert is not a part of the command and conquer series. Red Alert was only given the name C&C Red Alert 1/2/3 for the sake of marketing. C&C was already doeing well when Red Alert 1 came out. This game is the next episode in the C&C series. Following up on tiberium wars and kane's wrath

Red Alert 2 was wacky and fun, it is an alternate universe of the C&C series (and was going to be established in another game, with Yuri conceived as someone thrown through into an alternate universe - he was an acolyte of Kane, but they you know stuff gets cancelled, studios get bought)

Base's are gone, now you have 1 building. You pick Attack/Defence/Support. Each time you rank up you get new units, effictively making the units before it useless. So every game is a matter of building as many of your strongest units as possible and then attacking the other team, when your units die, build more units and send them to attack, and repeat. It really is that simple, i have played every RTS you could name and this game is honestly by far the worst one of them all. Please stay clear.

Ironic i just played Tiberian Sun earlier today for the first time in 5 years.This one doesn't look very appealing, i'll hold out for Starcraft 2 i guess. The better the graphics they try to use in RTS games, the worse they get. All this new garbage just gets too complicated. I like the good old, gather resources, build a tank, kill with tank style.

I've been playing the Beta for a while now. What I really like about it is the different classes, and because there is no resource production it really speeds up the pace. It's not classic C&C tho so if thats what you're looking for you may be dissapointed.

CNC is one of the most epic RTS i've ever played. I started with the first one (it was actually the first RTS ever) and I fell in love with the series. The story is one of the best and i would say its comparable to Halo or COD or even Mass Effect as far as a award winning series in every aspect... especially the gameplay and story. Well worth picking up. If you want background pick up CNC First Decade it gives you all the previous CNC's and the off shoot Red Alert Series (equally captivating) :)
