I don't know all holy texts, but the Koran and Bible for certain contain verses supporting violence against deviants. Islam may have the largest violent groups today, but they pale in size compared to historically violent groups from other religions. Christ himself displayed violent solutions at times. Ultimately, each religious faction will be biased toward verses that support their actions.
