  • You guys hate on the interior buy cavalier seats have to be some of the most comfortable car seats i've sat in. Lol.

  • "An interior that pleases your soul"

    ^Are they fucking kidding me?^

  • I have one, right now. It's a piece of shit. lol

  • This is why GM went broke:The cars last too long, unlike those Japanese overrated vehicles.

  • my mom was the lady at the end that nods and has the crazy hair

  • @truvermantic your mom WAS?? Did you exchange her for another mom? Stop with the bs

  • my mom was the lady at the end that nods

  • "An interior that comforts your very soul" GIVE ME A FUCKIN' BREAK !!! LMAO

  • It probably took more effort to make this commercial than it did to make the car.

  • live it!

  • I'm not sure if GM ever built a bigger piece of shit.

  • @Sleeko11 the aztec, H2, and Grand AM were almost worst than the cavalier....

  • @halflife103 The Grand am is pure crap. Especially for 99 the wiorst yeaar when they stopped making em I jumped over joy

  • @SaraP1900 haha yeah, my friend bought one, its a piece of shit and she hates it. my other friend bought new one and the tranny blew climbing over a pass.

  • @Sleeko11 and then there is the Minivans that they made.... waaaay worse. We all know that GM cannot make a mini van to save their life.

  • @Sleeko11 Vega.

  • the good old days

  • All cars from the 1980s were ugly.

  • @Supergungun well, you grew up in a different time so i can see why you think that way. Personally i think the 80's vehicles were the best. and i mean all the way up to 90's i mean my brother beat all sorts of cars in his Cavalier. I was with him when he beat a RX8.... THAT was a shock.

  • @halflife103 I find cars from the beginning up until the 1960s as most attractive.

  • @halflife103 cavalier beat an RX8 ya right in ur dreams

  • @rfs12345 then explain how it happened.

  • @halflife103 well either ur lying or perhaps the person in the RX8 didnt get the rpms up high enough cuz those rotory engines gotta wind way up before they start making lots of power'

  • @rfs12345 it looked like one of those people that their parents give them the car and they cant drive for shit. thats what it seemed like.

  • @halflife103 prob was then cuz RX8 has about 240hp as compared to highest output cavalier bein 140 with the Z08 v6

  • Actually the 1970's were considered the low point for quality. By the 80's, there was recognition by all US manufacturers that a more concentrated effort had to be made about quality control in order to compete against Japan more effectively.

  • The 80s were the absolute low-point of GM quality and design. These cars really sucked!

  • @demoskunk what do you expect when they were trying to make fuel efficient vehicles! Learn your history.

  • @halflife103 I lived through the 80s, so I know my history. Of course they were trying to make fuel efficient cars, but they sucked compared to Honda, Toyota, BMW, etc.

The auto workers union was forcing GM to put more money into pension plans than into the quality of the actual cars, and it showed!

  • @demoskunk mhmm

  • @demoskunk BMW's are not known for fuel efficiency. I agree with you about the unions though, they ruined GM.

  • @demoskunk Actually, no, that was an excuse for consciously making poor executive decisions along with the other 3 American car companies. Ford and GM rebuilt their reputations back up by building great cars until about 2000, then the cycle repeated and they blatantly ripped people off again, in Ford's case, with the best-selling car in America. This is shown easily by truck quality never faltering, and Corvette quality never faltering.

  • @demoskunk Na, GM was king in the 80s, and the 60s, all other decades they sucked.

  • @MoonlightDelivery No, GM were getting their ass handed to them in the 80s. GM cars in the 80s were ugly, boxy dogs.

  • @demoskunk mabye king was the wrong word GM was making some good cars in teh 80s, Regals, GN's celebrities, Trucks. F- body cars were at the time decent. I dunno man, i was under the impression GM did good in the 80s. Toyota and honda was still sorta unknown.BMW's were more elusive in the 80s than they are now. I think your wrong. Sure Japan and germany made a better car overall but GM was making good stuff in the 80s. Its the 90s is when things went to hell. Im die hard honda for the record.

  • @MoonlightDelivery How could you be a hardcore Honda fan? That's like picking your favorite paper brand. No personality.

  • @straightedge442 Double wishbone suspension, 8000k rpm redlines, great reliablity. If thats boring count me in. You should take a trip to your local auto X event or track day and then say hondas are boring. A K swaped civic hatch with some suspension work is about as good as it gets. They give the BMW guys all they want. Just ask them. You need to learn a bit about cars if you think hondas are boring. They are great cars and no one make a better 4 cyl.

  • @MoonlightDelivery Yeah. I'll go to track day to watch 1000 hp Supras and stripped out, superblown Civics that sound like weedwackers lose to stock Corvettes and bored Camaros. They have reliability, but looking at one for more than 5 seconds either makes me gag, or puts me to sleep. You're right too, nobody makes a better 4 cylinder. Imagine what they could do if they ever tried putting a V8 on the market, even in their "truck" Ridgeline.

  • @straightedge442 1/4 isnt all there is in motorsports.

    just sayin

  • @fenix144 I know that. Most cars I suport can do all types.

  • @straightedge442 glad to hear that.

  • @MoonlightDelivery What made matters worse was when GM was in the hands of Rick Wagoner. He drove GM into the toilet and literaly begged for help.

  • @Fuji086 Yeah, because he was a self-absorbed, old moneyman who didn't give a crap about the company. He just knew he was retiring with a bonus that was worth tens of millions.

  • Chevy's live it and the hheartbeat of america are my favorite avadritisments from them! Cool

  • i look around today and ive got to laugh, all of the new china cars coming out look and sound just like my electric razor,

cars used to be cars, what happened...

  • No one's ever been that happy driving a Cavalier.

  • @BelfNelfLuv

I was that happy driving such a car, indeed!. Maybe it was because there's where I learned to drive. 1993 4 door RS V6 with manual gaerbox, and lots of room for my "very soul"... Because I could never pick up more than two or three dudes along with me! Ah... the college years. Just a footnote: I wouldn't recommend getting kinky with such a car. The reason is obvious :) cheers!

  • @cluless87mx I had the same one, except mine was the 2-door. :P There was room in the 2-door to get kinky! Alas, though, I'm afraid that car never brought me much joy.

  • @BelfNelfLuv lol thats true i got a G5 and i dont feel that happy lol

  • How come they don't make ads like this anymore? lol

  • My 82 Dodge Conv gets 30 mpg. AC still works. People forget some of these early 80's 4 cyl engines got great mileage. I think the Cavalier Conv was pretty. These new cars are ugly and look like hot wheels.

  • @DA90027 I used to have an 87 stripper 4 door 5 speed 2L ohv

Fantastic car! 41 mpg hwy, high 20's city.

I wish the insurance companies(who rule the world) allowed Them to make simple cars like this. No a/c, no cruise, no airbaags, no tilt, no abs, no auto crap transmissions, simple, light and good on gas.

  • My '84 Cavlier has so many electrical problems, lol. POS.

  • I had a 1998 Chevy Cavalier for 11 years, I did not have any problems at all expect for when it got older, the horn tends to freeze up. As a result, I had to punch the steering wheel really hard in order to work. Another problem, once it got 100,000 miles, the transmission gives up.

  • I have power windows in mine. The passenger window refuses to go up, the stereo stopped working, the lights work intermittently and the tail light is messed up. The engine hasn't had any problems running though. Sometimes I have to jump the starter though, lol.

  • ford sucks too, they try to lure gullible american people into buying their horribly built cars with their bells and whistles, OOOOH look at me i can press a button and talk to my radio woohoo too bad all of the oil seals will start leaking at 60,000 miles. A well built car should be backed with a respectable warranty.

  • had a nice looking 87 shit car though chevys suck oh yeah dodge too!

  • kinda odd well idk well i guess all cars have their flaws u know

  • as the road goes on,the us treasury, canadian government drive todays chevy, LOL

  • Had an '87...very good running car.

..."an interior that comforts your very sou"l???

    Uh....What????

  • I miss the Cavalier. I mean the Cobalt is nice but I think they sold more Cavaliers....

  • lol audio cassette

  • ya realy try cd lol

  • Very tough engines and transmisions but all the rest is royaly crappy and no dam good for nothing but i still like Mine its banged up but way tougher and faster then a toyota or most small rice rockets but if you want real quality buy a TOYOTA

  • Mine its banged up but way tougher and faster then a toyota or most small rice rockets but if you want real quality buy a TOYOTA

Does that make any sense? you bash toyota then praise them in the same sentence

  • AHAHAHAHA!!!

  • The interior that comforts your very soul.

  • Yeah, i owned an '87. Loved it. Bought it new but have to just shake my head and laugh at that one. Hate to see the person who's soul that interior could comfort. lol.

  • Had a brother who bought a Z24 version. Same model year as mine but he made a critical error. Went to the back of the lot to were the one he got was. L..E..M..O..N! had nothing but trouble with it until it was put out of its misery when some idiot ran a red light and totaled it.

  • The Cimarron interior comforts my soul.

  • Cimarron whos that made by?

  • Cadillac... even the company considers it the worst Cadillac ever made. LOL

  • boo fwd

  • yea, that turd was also one of the best selling cars of all-time, dipshit.. they stopped producing the j-body in '05, so they're bankruptcy had nothing to do with the Cavalier. hell, they'd probably be doing alright if they kept it around

  • they wouldn't be in bankruptcy if it had the reliability of a civic or corolla

  • lol Americans are only concerned with one thing

your fuckin money call GM see what they tell you

I know I have and Im not suprised at all at the shitty loose attitude they have towards there customers

  • fuckin right although the first hondas were less reliable then a wheel barrow

  • they were cheap

  • Comment removed

  • Wow it amazes me as to why GM is bankrupt. What a turd

  • Rly?

  • Comment removed

  • I just got a 1990 Z24 3.1 and the thing is fast, its in immaculate condition to, I love it though great car

  • ah the 80's

  • live today chevrolet with cavalier and cavalash

  • What a dump!

  • got an 89 cavalier z24 has 270,000 miles and the only thing i had to replace was the starter and altenator when i got 6 yrs ago and the original owner treated the car like shit

  • cavaliers are alright but damn they suck

  • "It comforts your very soul" Wow! They were desperate to say something good about it.

  • the 84 was the best one. mine starts when its 30 below zero and the fucker runs great. on the other hand its very slow. when I bought the car in 2005 it had 16,000 miles now its got 34,000 it sat in old lady's garage for 18 years LOL!!!

  • GM's cars in the 1980's were mostly terrible, the only good cars they made at that time were trucks and there rear drive big sedans like the caprice

besides those cars, everything at GM in the 80's sucked balls, and i only drive cars from GM

  • You forgot about the f-bodies, like the camaro and firebird. those were great.

  • They don't make them like they used to,

    thank God!

  • It seems like everyone I talk to who has a Cavailer says they're nothing but trouble but I have had my for 5 years and it's been nothing but good to me. I have an 87 Cavalier 4 door 4-cylinder 2.0L and the only thing I've had to replace was the starter but that was because it was stock.

  • I have a 87Cavalier RS with 76,000 miles and I just had it repainted the original color and replaced the altenator.Still has the R-12 in it and it's cold. That little motor was called by the factory "The Iron Duke" Passes smog test every two years.

  • the iron duke is the 2.5L and it was never sold in the cavalier. in 1987 you had the 2.0L and the 2.8 v6. i have a 91 with a 2.2L TBI. its a good little car, i even pull a small utility trailer with it. no problem. it has 145K on it and i plan on keep it for a long time.

  • I thought about the cash for clunkers but she runs great and the air is still cold and paid for. Thanks for the information on the iron Duke.

  • i would nvr give my truck for that cash for clunkers

my baby is my baby, fuck the newer cars...

    1981 Chevy C-10

  • @ms13goku is that because you cant afford a newer one?? lol jk

  • @doogims12345 lol no

i see as a waste of money...(:

  • awesome! listen the music its like: live a wonderful live with chevy! oh man that were the 80s

  • omg that was so sad

  • That lady is on poppers I know it.

  • I don't know if I really want a car's interior to "comfort my very soul"

  • Haha... awesome!

  • I want to be as happy as those people looked, i think I might go buy one right now!

  • 0:18 and 0:25

  • AHAHAHA!

  • the guy who's narrating sounds gay :P

  • The 80's Cavalier was a bad ass car.

  • I had a 1985 Chevy Cavalier Type-10 and while it wasn't the ugliest looking thing, the 2.0 liter engine hooked up to an automatic was so incredibly gutless. The 2.3L engine in my old Pinto had more power than this sorry-assed thing!

It was definitely the least favorite of all the vehicles I've owned.

  • :19-:21 seconds...i've never started laughing at a car's interior.

  • god are you kidding? you'd get KILLED in today's traffic! the car looks crappy even when it was new!

  • ha yea, i just thought it was funny that the lady was randomly cracking up in the car.

  • ha yea, i just thought it was funny that the lady was randomly cracking up in the car.

  • i know right? nothing great about the cavalier in the first place... maybe chevy stuck something in the AC duct so the drivers would look happy

  • hahahaha

  • Wow, that was my first car. I bought one that was the same year model as the ones in the commercial. It was a good new car for a high school kid in 1988.

  • To think, the 1st generation J car was designed in the 1970s as a replacement for Monza.By the mid 80s the car was almost 10 years old already. When the 2nd generation died in 1994,the car was basically near 20 years old.

  • cavalier.from chevy.

  • OMG.. that was sureal. I wonder how much gas was then. Ahh.. the good ol' 80s when life was simple.

  • less than $1 a gallon. Even in the early 90's when I first started driving, gas seldom ran more than a buck a gallon. $4 was unimaginable back then.

  • I always thought it was strange that the base Cavalier had a completely different dash compared to the Cavalier RS.

  • Wow, even in the ads this car looked like crap!

  • Honestly, what IS it about these 1980s Chevy ads do I love so much?

  • I ask that too.

  • The woman at the start of the commercial looks like Gillian Anderson.

  • whiskeymilitia

  • "fuel injected, front drive power that you been looking for"

I dunno, those 88 horses weren't that exhilarating; but otherwise I liked the little thing.

  • WHY? arent car ads as fun with all the jingles as they were before?? Now all the car ads just try to be "funny" instead of showing full shots of the car in action with some flashy jingles! I COMMAND GM TO MAKE AN AD LIKE THIS AGAIN!!

  • SO DO I!!!!!! but apparently its like considered brainwashing....i will admit this commercial makes me wanna buy a cavalier LOL!

but who wouldnt like to own a nice chevy?

  • car is a tin can

  • Man, I love those 80's interiors!

  • get a b-body

  • ill stick with my z28 fuck z24

  • I'd take a 80's cavalier over an 80's honda or toyota anyday, cheaper parts, better gas mileage, more reliable and not all plastic!

1992 or newer i'd go japanese though.

  • -Japanese cars are such a fraud, you just see the new ones on the street, where are the old ones?

-On the other hand you still see a lot of those old cavaliers around, guess why...

  • Haha, I drive an 1986 Honda Accord... want to buy it?

  • I see plenty of early 80's Hondas. Where are those Cavaliers?

  • No you haven't. Do a quick google search for 1981 Honda Accord, click images and you will see what a 80s honda looks like. The Hondas you think are from the 80 are really from the mid 90s because they age so bad.

  • ummm I have alot in my neibourhood

  • Best looking cavalirs ive ever seen!!

  • wow i think thats catchy! its a shame they dont make like them anymore....

  • I had a 1987 Cavalier RS Conv. and I miss it. It was more dependable than most newer cars. It had a digital read out dash. It was pretty advanced for it's time.

  • Lol I had an 88 cavalier it was an awesome car with plenty of character. I know that sounds funny but it's true. I remember driving to west virginia and having to get over in the truck lane because it didnt like going over 45 up the mountains. Also to pull out on 695 you had to turn off the ac!

  • sickening...

  • this is an awesome commercial!

  • My first car was an 85 type-10. This is so damn cool! By the way I wonder if the voice over guy for this is the Vault energy soda "Get to it!" guy???

  • Live it!

  • Lol,its a type 10, I dont care how crappy the car is, I love retro car commercials.

  • comforts your soul! lol

  • I didnt know Princess Diana drove a cavalier

  • Chevy!

  • hey how do u find these? like did u record this in the 80's i just wondered...

  • ohhh lol at malibu!!!!! i do too

  • ok thats bad that i kno all the words to that song

  • Damn shame it had all first gen cavs on there, I think the first gen and the third gens are about the damn crappiest. The second gen we're pretty sweet, 2.8 and 3.1L's. The lil things would haul ass. I've got a 89 z24. Its not the fastest thing in the world but it can almost hang with my 77 vette. Its just the power to weight ratio was good with cavs. 140 hp stock to 2600 pound car was pretty good back in the day.

  • What does my comment have to do with Civics?

Gut out ur sister? Huh??? What a dumbass =)

  • All these cavaliers are dead. I cant find me an 80s one =(

  • Not very civic, are you?

You can have my sister! LOL!

  • 'Built like a tin can and destined to rust like one - that's today's Chevrolet!'

  • Wow...that was pretty cheesy LOL!

  • i thought you americans didnt have manual transmissions on your cars-in the films they always feature autos

  • You Americans? For the most part we do prefer automatics. However, 22 years ago manuals were the norm. Plus, that was the Type 10 Cavalier which was "sportier."

  • Hooray for Cavaliers!

  • did he say "it has the front drive your looking for?" who the fuck wants front wheel drive?!?!?

  • Maybe back then they did. Now rear wheel drive is becoming popular again. You can't trust them to say a Chevy Cavalier is a good car. That was one of the most unreliable Chevy cars. Any of the larger ones like the caprice, celebrity, most buicks, grand prix, boneville were reliable vehicles. Also remember they made the Cadillac Cimaron. They thought they could take a Chevy cavalier double the price and put a few bits of Cadillac parts on it and it would be great car.

  • a cimaron huh? Wow i cant believe people fell for that!! Im gonna have to google that one boy i bet it was ugly!!! Caveliers were such ugly cheap cars! When i was like 7 my babysitter had a 2 door & i thought it was the coolest car ever & couldn't wait to get one! What was i thinking!!

  • It looked like a Cavalier with a Cadillac grille. Unreal.

  • Your right!! I still have some full sized Oldsmobiles of the late 70s and they are still ike new cars and run great. GM did a good job with the full sized cars, my grandps Caprice still runs and looks close to they way it was new. I wish GM would make those cars again

  • oh my god! Cavaliers have to be one of the most ugly, cheap cars I have ever driven.

  • Maybe now, but in 1984 this car was on the cutting edge. It was one of the first attempts at making a small car that offered what would have been considered upscale features at the time. Besides, most cars from the 80's were pretty tough to look at.

  • I guess you've never had the displeasure at driving a K-car!

  • The 80's were a weird time...and i only lived 1 year of it lol

  • What is all this Cavalier, GM and American bashing? It was what it was. It was one of the first attempts at an American small car. Toyota, Honda and Datsuns of the era where tin can hatchbacks. It was very modern for the time, front wheel drive & fuel injection.Cavalier was the best selling car in America for 1984 so it could not have been all that bad. I wish it were still the 80's, when Americans had pride in our country and its companies.

  • But, see, this is what you don't realize, you could always count on a Honda, Toyota, or Datsun to start when you needed it to. Try that with a Cavalier....I rest my case!

  • dude you are so right :P

  • Absolutely. I bought an 85' Accord as a winter beater one year when I put my VW's away (every year I buy a $500 car to slog through the NY/NJ winter). Thing had more rot than the Titanic and ALWAYS started and ran great.
