The Eternal concept was put together by Denis Ingoldsby and myself after I broke En Vogue from the USA in the UK. I had a label deal with PWL later called Sanctuary and Eternal were going to sign there but after 7 months of discussions Waterman pulled out on the morning of the signing saying he didn't think they would sell any records instead he bought £250k worth of Koi Carpe - and EMI snapped them up.
I had never heard that before. What the hell is wrong with that guy? Why did he not think they would sell? Because they were R&B or a female group? Considering how talented Eternal are and how awful Steps, etc, were. Crazy. I am glad Eternal did so well everywhere, and not with Pete. He would have made them have terrible records. I bet he was gutted when he saw their success. Ha ha!
West End on the remix and Eddie Gordon at his innovative best with that organ/sine wave bassline. #1 in the UK Club Charts and #4 UK Pop for their debut single. Debut album sold 4 million copies after Pete Waterman said they would never sell a record when he dropped out of signing them. Gotta have balls sometimes.......

What? Was Pete Waterman going to sign Eternal? I thought they were put together by First Avenue and snapped up by EMI?
