i don't have this problem but. i have a request. could you find out why my videos look like they are broken? i mean they work it's just they don't display colour and there are cracks in the video. before you ask i've tried google and failed finding a solution. i even tried removing shit like my history or some software i don't use. i can get one video to work with colour by removing all kinds of history i have. but then i t only works for that video and then it goes back to grey. PLEASE HELP ME!
@stealz okay thanks for the advice. i fixed it a week after i posted the comment and 3 months after that, i moved to Vista. it's working much more smoothly. but thank you for helping.
Great video most keyboard shortcuts work. Control F will not do anything, let alone go fullscreen. I'm here because my 10.04 will not go fullscreen. When I click on the fullscreen button (4 outward facing arrows) the desktop goes fullscreen blank white, then goes back to regular screen blank white. I then have to reload the page to see the small window video. I paid $29.95 for Versus 2010 Tour de France, and the fullscreen on their site does the same thing I described above.

I just have to say I have a 64 bit machine running Ubuntu 10.04 and the thing is some videos work and others it happens exactly what you described. It's strange that videos with popup ads and/or annotations are the ones which give me problems. Also embedded videos (like in blogs, etc) don't work when I click on play. You can try the HTML5 Beta over at youtube com html5.
Oh i can control the flash player fine, it's just when it comes to pausing the video, where my problems start. My audio carries on for roughly a second afterwards. This has happened in every Linux Distro i have tried. Won't be using Linux until they sort the shit out of flash.
I got the same thing. I found that if I go to System>Preferences>Appearance>Visual Effects and set it to None then I get full function. I wonder if there is a Compiz setting that can be turned off to fix this with Visual Effects on.
@KPizzleSTL Good idea - actually, been working good now, since Ubuntu LTS - all I installed was: sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree - been working nice!
@PCAddictsLive I un-installed flash from Synaptic and reinstalled it using the command you supplied but it didn't work. By not working I mean that the videos that show the old style progress bar won't pause or seek. The videos with the progress bar at the top have always worked. Apparently the issue is that the flash supplied is 32-bit wrapped up to work on 64-bit. I found a video by gotbletu titled Cant Click on Flash? - Flash 64bit - Ubuntu 9.10. I followed his guide and all videos work.
basically, you just have to keep the flash player focused. when you click then let go, it only focuses the player, not click. So you have to be clicking the entire time with the middle mouse, then click the left click while holding the middle.
Here is another work around. If you have a middle click on your mouse, hold that down while inside the player, then move to the place you want to click, and then click like normal while holding down the middle click.
@PCAddictsLive Yes. Right on top of the playing video just click, hold, keep holding the middle button and use the left click while still holding the middle one.
@DarthScape Just tried that out and it works! I'll try the other solutions posted, but if they don't work, I'll stick to this one. How did u figure this out? :P It's crazy.
@gotbletu The funny thing is, yesterday morning I had completely removed flashplayer, and re-installed it, and haven't had a problem playing videos or crashing. Maybe it's working now. I will keep you all updated.
@Skybinary Cool, yeah, I had an issue with Boxee this morning (trying to install). Needed flashplugin-nonfree - had some issues with that, but got them worked out.

@nemesis0778 If you're using firefox, try the plugin FlashAid, fixed most issues for me.

When i watch videos on google chrome, when i watch flash videos in full screen, the video flickers for some reason in a fast flash of white.
Anyone know why?

Completely off the subject and I'm new here -- what do you use to do screencaps like this in Linux?
