@XxMasonnn This is WPA Blackball Rules he potted from the break which keeps him at the table but there is no nomination it is simply the first legal pot after the break that determines the set, as it is always an 'open' table after the break he has the option to play a plant.
Simon is a pretty good player. I think that Chris Melling is the greatest 8 ball player I have ever seen. Shame he is now playing 9 ball, but a pool player has to do what a pool player has to do.
Why are they not playing the same rules as most of the country ? i.e. world rules.
This is why 'pool' will never be as big as it could be. I can go from John o Groats to lands end and snooker rules are the same. Come on guys, get on board and play world rules like everyone else.
@the8ballsurgeon Blackball is the only set of rules to be recognised by the World Pool Association and in turn the International Olympic Committee. It is played in more countries globally than World Rules. World Rules is just the dominant set of rules in England
@dave0504 I've seen football matches where a team is 2-1 up in the 91st minute, the losing team take a shot on goal, defender saves with his hand, gets sent off, and the opposition miss the peno and the cheating team still win 2-1. Let's not get into what Michael Schumacher did in Formula 1. Heard the story behind Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) vs. Henry Cooper? Or that rugby player who used fake blood? Rules are bent and buckled every day, matey... even lawyers get guilty criminals off!
that's nothing, i played an 8 ball team match and potted 4 reds off break and and cleared the other reds and potted black 5 shots in total that included the break off
Yes, this is WPA Blackball rules. You do not 'choose' your set until the next leaglly potted ball after the break. Essentially getting a ball on the break keeps you at the table with an 'open table'.
There is some Blackball played in Australia, but the main areas are UK, Ireland, France, Spain and South Africa. Blackball is the officliated rule set of the World Pool Association and then in turn the International Olympic Commitee
@CueSportTV How did these come up or has this always been the rules. I have never heard of setting your set after the break. If he hit yellow first by nearly all pool rules I have played, that is your set and the sinking of the red would have cost you your turn. Sounds like snooker mixed with 8 ball by your so called world rules
@bbaker904 There actually pretty good when you play them, you also have to hit a cushion if you don't pot which kinda stop's the old old let shit player's make a game last forever roll up snooker trick, they''re geared to aid the attacking play in general. I thought you had to nominate your colour tho, you break and if you pot you get to choose but you have to nominate, the ref even say's red's in play before the shot, i don't get how that plant was legal in world rule's.
@liveholmes No, in Blackball rules, the set is not 'chosen' until the first legally potted ball after the break is completed, potting a ball on the break essentially gives you the option
@CueSportTV well done.. he played himself ut of trouble there, altough i thought he played wrong shot at 1:51. thought he could have moved the one on the cushin. but well done
Isn't the first shot illegal? It's a foul with either ball that you nominate....?

@the8ballsurgeon
how can people champion a set of rules were you can intentionally play a deliberate foul, and benefit from it?!

I'm confused, he sinks a yellow, then hits a yellow ball onto a red ball and then takes red? Can he do this?

@CueSportTV is it not actually because he potted a red and a yellow on the break so the next ball he pots is his set?
