  • Great looking gator!

    Jeff

  • This is better than CGI !!! Great job!! You should win an Oscar for this Film!

  • how do you make them stay firm because i got the hooks but they keep going loose when I move them, do I put glue? Please reply i need help

  • Did you know birds are now classified as the last living group of dinosaurs and that raptor dinosaurs, as well as baby t-rex, had feathers?

  • were u get the gator head

  • Really cool. loved it.

    Now do another movie :)

  • I wish I could have the gator puppet it was perfect!!!!

  • oh my fucking god. what the eff. that is the shittest thing i have ever seen. if i ever had to sit through that again i'd die laughing. you should be making porn not gator movies ballie. ha ha ha ha ha

  • are you mentally retarded........

  • Great Vdeo brilliant Gator model, well impressed

  • Genius way to make the armature frame and joints. Thanks for the insight.

  • That's a great puppet! And I had never thought to use that kind of joint - its not as flexible as a ball joint, but far easier to make and effective in the right situations.

I bet you had a lot of fun on this project! ^_^

  • Thank you for the tutorial and info.

  • Great puppet. Thanks for telling about the joint technique. I infact have all the parts needed already.

  • cool puppet (not the best)

But one thing you catn have 24 FPS, hallo i am 16 and im using 15 FRP and it get smoother.and what you should use is an smaller puppet made out of foam latex, but you have much to learn;)

  • actually most animators use 24 frames per second it makes animation smoother, and the smoothness of any aniimation, depends on the quality of the animator, by the way i also do stop motion

  • Very impressive! Good job with the film and animation!

  • awsome gator puppet

  • i found this interesting in harryhausen movies the stop motion was a little jerky because there was no motion blur but in Lucasfilms "Empire Strikes Back" they would move the tauntauns (spelling) on a hidden track as they would capture the frames. virtually illiminating the jerky look .

  • Awesome! You rock man!

  • Go Gators!! :)

    Nice tutorial. Peace.

  • Hi, robbie howell

this is a really cool movie.

Are you going to make more stop motion movies?

maybe next time a full feature! Also check out my first stop motion film.

  • what site did u find the armatue instructions on?

  • Hey Robbert,

I loved the making of, and I liked the film as well.

Welcome to the world of stop motion.

    Thanks for posting your films.

    Tim

  • Great work! Very inspiring! Thanks very much for posting this. I'd seen the same article on hinge joint armatures and it looks like they work pretty well. I hope you make more stop-motion films.

  • my puppets are suckish but that aligator looks real

  • Hey Mate nice work. What is the "Hinge- Jointed armatures," photo from? First comes in at 0:10. Also, if you think you'll continue animating you should find the Aardman Studios book "Creating 3-D animation" Its very easy to read lots of pictures and diagrams plus the basics of animation laid out nicely. Techniques like shooting in two's so youre not actually making a move for every frame of animation. Anyways keep working.

  • Wow!! Nice model work! The alligator looks fantastic. I can't wait to see the final film. Makes me want to get started on a new stop motion film.

  • Just wanted to let you know that my stop motion project is up on youtube now. If you go to my home page look for Gator Parts 1,2,3

and watch in order. The stop motion does not show up until the second part but you kinda need to see the first part to know whats going on. I tried to put a lot of southern humor in it along with the action. I like to laugh and jump at the same time.

    Robbie Howell

  • @sharkman64 awsome gator, I plan to do a dragon that is 6 inches eqaul to 60 meters or about 200 feet tall.
