  • That car has the stock 5-speed and gearing. The TT hits close to 110-118 in 3rd. Give or take a few MPH. It all depends on the tire size, ECU with higher rev limit, etc...

  • @turb0tun3r Ima have to call dumbass! Just because your little eclipse won't do more than 80 in 3rd doesn't mean that no other car will either! Stock TT transmissions with stock rear gearing will hit almost 120! I think they actually top out at 180. But especially if you have a tuned ECU with a higher rev limiter, yeah it's possible to hit that speed in 3rd!

  • @AdrenalineJunky17 my stock NA Z32 hits over 100mph in third lol. the VG30DE engine is designed to be a fast engine. look at the plenum design alone and that will tell the story lol. eclipse's are a joke and so are all Mitsubishi's

    lol stock transmission = 0-60km 1st, 60-105km 2nd, 105-140(or 150 cant remember) 3rd, previous-180km 4th, 180-however fast the car with go lol.

  • @TheRiskTaker u got right! The Ford mechanicans tried to find a solution for to much power with front wheel drive - Focus RS, but I think they made a good job but cars like BMW 1 Coupé and the Audis had their bether solution. AWD or RWD is mostly the right way to solve this problem...

  • well i had both at one time. then i totaled my 1990 na but the grip on the 1990 steerin wheel felt more comfortable than my 93TT wit airbag..but im getting used to it

  • These days in Miami is a nightmare, varying temps, highs to lows, humid air, cross winds, you name it! The only commercial tires being used track wise are Michelen Pilot Sport Cup 235/35ZR19 (87Y). They work well, If there is a street tire that will put a hold down on the track for a sub 11 run thats it.

  • Its the steet tire issue, we would need to define "stock" and know exactly WHAT the tire set was, what it was filled with, and what pressures we are talking about. the 993 was on Potenzas underinflated by about 8 lbs. filled with nitrogen and sprayed with track adheasive, and they were also heat blanketed prior.

  • on stock tires the person did 10.89 1/4 mile. Search it on youtube. He then used drag radials and it helped by .1 seconds.

  • you can do it on street tires, Hoosier street radials or specialty potenzas (that is if they still make em, its been along time)

  • I'm really skeptical about that 10.89 run. I did a little reading on that particular run and it seems like something isn't quite right. Considering even damn good drivers seldom drop below 11.5, I wouldn't be so sure about a sub 11. Its a badass car don't get me wrong but if sub 11s were possible there would be more than just one recorded account.

  • Well im basing it on Eddie Bello's runs with Potenzas, a specialty one off brand of nittos and hoosiers that were street "rated" and ive been a Porsche mechanic for awhile now and ive seen it done, now not in a 300zx, its was a 993TT did 10.22 on street "legal" tires. As for the Nissian I would give it Low low 11's BUT I will lean toward your side on the 10 runs, I will have to concede and say...."I dunno about that". Its on the edge.

  • I thought we were talking about a Z06 in the previous conversation so my comments may be confusing. Im not that educated in porsche or nissan stuff but some of the shit thrown around on youtube just doesn't reflect how difficult launching a car really is. My buddies subaru should be a 12.9 car on paperr but he has yet to break 13.5 and he knows that car like the back of his hand. On a side note Im skeptical that stock tires are as bad as people say.

  • AH im sorry I thought you were talking about the 300zx, but its really doesnt matter so much as the weight distribution of the vehicle, how MUCH it weighs, and of course the core of the argument, the tire composition. Yeah forget paper, it reflects minimal real world performance under varying conditions.

    Commercial tires can be great or insane. ive found that depending on who makes them, compositions can change from production run to produc. run, I could go on for two pages, handmades = best

  • Yeah I gotta hand it to guys who tune 300zx's though. Much harder to pull big torque numbers from a 3.0 versus a more simple v8 (in my opinion). Handmade tires though? wow i would figure they were all made the same. My buddy raves about Goodrich G-forces but jesus christ they are expensive. But with RWD you cant dick around with cheap tires i suppose.

  • Well he's probably running similar to the stock tire diameter (245/45R16, or 24.7" dia.) which is about 77.5" around. 116mph is 122,496in/min OR 1581 Wheel RPM. Throw that through the 3.692 differential and the 1.302 3rd gear to achieve a 4.807 reduction which means the engine would have to turn 7598RPM to hit 116mph... totally possible, even if the limiter is set at a common 7500, it will easily bounce 150+RPM higher like he did in the video! :)
