  • The car that Mark Saylor was driving had the accelerator petal stuck. It was reported live at the 911 call. A previous driver reported that the SAME exact loaner car had the accelerator jammed to the mat, but the driver was able to a stop and correct the mat. He reported the floor mat incident to Bob Baker Lexus dealer who did nothing about it.

The car had become a Russian roulette.

A stuck petal is so much more dangerous with powerful engines and the vehicle already driving at high speeds

  • I hate his nonchalant, subtly obnoxious, dismissive, "don't really give a shit, this is just my job" attitude.

It could just be me, though. Could just be me.

  • firefighters see ALOT of this man

  • O M G........R I P

  • If the gearbox is under load from the acceleration and engine torque, it may not always be possible to knock it into neutral... at least not that easy, what may have saved them, was to actually accelerate even more! thus taking the direct load off the gearbox "then bumping it into neutral", but throw in a bit of panic and it can suddenly be all different!!... a very sad and tragic accident.

  • he tried to turn it off but it wouldn't ,have you even met him?!!! He wasn't stupid. And he loved his family.. Think twice before you say stupid things.. Think about their families

  • my uncle did not kill his family on purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was not suicide. you guys who say that don't know a thing about them so why don't you shut the hell up

  • Murder suicide...you're dumb! That's not what it was

  • Also those push button starts...if you push and hold for 3 seconds it kills Lexus engine and you will coast to a stop. He may not have known that. God only knows if it was intentional...only the present matters anyways.

  • some of these cars are equipped with key less start, you use a button to start the car so turning the car off is not really a possibility also these automatic transmissions don't have a lever any more its also all electrically done with buttons. At 120MPH hitting one of these buttons will confuse the computer. Car manufacturers need to go away from excessive electronics. For god sakes some lexus park themselves.

  • Your comment is ridiculously ignorant Show some respect. Ever think that the mat got stuck on the accelerater when he was going 65 mph and when the car wouldn't stop the guy kept tapping the gas pedal to unlodge it not knowing the mat was just making the accerator stuck even more? Ever drive a lexus? I doubt it, you can't just turn the car off, it doesn't work that way. Do your homework before you speak out of your ass. Stupid , Stupid silly child.

  • Murder suicide? The freeway ended & entering the 52 freeway interchange (ramp) at 120 is a ridiculous notion and not an option. Also, there is an audio tape of him on the phone with 911 up until the crash. He mentioned 2-3 time that the brakes did not work. What are the chances of accelerator malfunction and brake failure simultaneously & why couldn't he shift into neutral? My guess is this cop arrested or messed with the wrong person/people and they sabotaged his car.

  • when ur car's accerator is stuck, there is no down shifting, there are no breaks, there is almost nothing you can do

i heard the recording on the radio today, and it almost made me cry... all you could hear was the guy yelling, "we can't stop, the car can't slow down, we are in the city," stuff like that... then his wife screams, and it was over.... r.i.p :(

  • why didn't they get on the 52 instead of getting off the freeway. it looks like a murder suicide

  • My Prayers are with them..God Bless them all.
