Whitney Houston is the definition of a real singer. In the new dictionary, there should be a nice headshot of Whitney next to the definition for "Singer: 1. A person who sings professionally (ie. Whitney Houston -picture) 2. A person who can hold a single note for at least 10 seconds without falling off key (Whitney)". Whoever didn't know it or forgot it needs to attend one of her rare recent live performances. All that crap about her not being able to sing her own songs needs to be put to rest.
Beyonce does not even deserve to be compared to Whitney Houston vocally. The onyl two singers that can be put in the same league were Celine Dion and Mariah Carey!

More forward placement, better intonation, more resonance and ease throughout her range. Céline has little if any support in her lowest notes, she has an uneven mix in the highest notes and her upper head notes are disconnected.
Céline is just more successful/praised than Beyonce, but that's as far as it goes. Beyonce is objectively a better singer.

Beyonce has a great technique but her voice is not especially powerful nor beautiful to begin with. She mastered her instrument, well I have to agree with that. But her voice is not impressive .

Vocal power is resonance, which can be achieved only by lifting the soft palate and maintaining a neutral larynx. Being loud doesn't make you powerful, that's why Beyonce's properly placed and resonant F5 drowned out Jennifer's screamed F5 at the Oscars.
Jennifer is throaty, but nowhere near as throaty as Christina. And vocal longevity is not an indicator of good technique, so fail.

It's simple if using the true cords in the larynx. The larynx, once shut, (just like when holding your breath) can powerfully let out rich sound for over 30 secs (with practice).Opera singers do it all the time. Whitney, ending "I Will Always Love You" also does it, rarely taking breaths.

You would understand why there are many people who are disappointed with Whitney's recent performances. It is because of performances such as this, which truly marked Whitney as THE VOICE. Not that I don't enjoy Whitney as she is now, but these performances hark back to the time when her voice was flawless. The thing is, Whitney is different now; her voice has changed and she has changed. All we can do is to move on, and if we ever miss her old voice, we can always listen to this. :)

@Stefano94x Here's vocal theory (fact), Beyonce uses her FALSE vocal cords (neck singing). Neck singers can't hold notes for more than a few seconds. Beyonce NEVER holds for even 5 seconds (poor). It's simple if using the true cords in the larynx. The larynx, once shut, (just like when holding your breath) can powerfully let out rich sound for over 30 secs (with practice).Opera singers do it all the time. Whitney, ending "I Will Always Love You" also does it, rarely taking breaths.

You would understand why there are many people who are disappointed with Whitney's recent performances. It is because of performances such as this, which truly marked Whitney as THE VOICE. Not that I don't enjoy Whitney as she is now, but these performances hark back to the time when her voice was flawless. The thing is, Whitney is different now; her voice has changed and she has changed. All we can do is to move on, and if we ever miss her old voice, we can always listen to this. :)
