  • i tried this on my driving test and still failed!... didnt realize that they were showing how to drive on the "right" side of the road -______-

  • Your arm wasn't on the back of the seat during reverse?

In jersey that's a mistake during road test.

  • seriously all turns with the handbrake? glad i didn't make my test in the uk, just use ur footbrake, you will be fine, and also drivers behind you can see that you are braking and/or standing still.

  • he never signaled........

  • Yes, but you're doing the 3 point turn on such a wide street. I had to do it on a small ass area :(

  • Spot on. Once u move off you MUST use indicator. Also use it at 3rd turn. Any driving instructor who doesn't use their daytime lights must not know reason for using them.

  • Did you forget your indication prior to performing the 3-point turn (Indicators), sir?

  • If your foot comes off the brake when someone taps you, you just a plain dangerous driver. The only way my foot would ever come off is if I were to get hit really hard in which case it really doesn't matter what you are doing with the brakes.

  • Where is seatbelt ?

  • If you're sitting there hoping the handbrake will sazve you while you're revving the engine with the clutch partially engaged, an unexpected tap from behind might well cause you to dump the clutch and floor it and the stupid handbrake won't do you any good there as you drive through someone's garage. You're much safer with your foot on the real brake, the engine at idle and the clutch completely disengaged.

btw, why is that one car parked on the right side of the road?

  • @Squanto9 if clutch completely disengage the car would cut of

  • Handbrake? We don't need no stinking handbrake. No wonder it takes this guy an hour to make this simple maneuver. Can you imagine taking that long on a busy street? Someone would yank him out of his car and smach his head with a pipe and then jam his car into someone's lawn to clear the road. Get rid of the handbrake and burning out your clutch finding the 'biting point' bs. The excuse of needing the handbrake if someone hits you complete molarky.

  • no indicators??

  • question: How would i know when I'm close to the curb so i don't hit it?

  • what happened to signalling?

  • @ThIr13enGaming You don't have to signal during a 3-point turn.

  • @ThIr13enGaming DEFINITELY signal during a three point turn!

  • Thanks for the tip.Watched this severally before my test yesterday and I got the 3 point turn for my manouvere.Passed the driving on my first attempt.

  • dude you took like 20 minutes doin this damn might as well get out of the car to instead of checking all that!

  • @chandito1000 he did slowly for the benifit of the viewer

  • @lisSUMMER infact the handbrake isnt that strong it wont lock the wheels unless your going slow enough this is due to the handbrake workong from cable and only prefent the back wheels from moving, in an emergency you use the foot brake because it stops all the wheels from moving :)

  • arent you meant to indicate?

  • did people watch this because they have a driving test comming up?

  • in the middle of the road..look for a safe point? really :L

  • bboy song

  • Very helpful

  • Is it really necessary to try to straighten the wheel while trying to not hit the curb? My instructor only instructed me to turn the wheel all the way to one direction without straighten the front wheel and put all my focus on not hitting the curb.

  • @MrWade365 No it's not. Either method is fine. As with any manouevre on the Test, there isn't a set way of doing it. So long as you keep the car under control, the Examiners aren't really bothered HOW you do it, so long as you do it SAFELY.

  • I really like the background music, what is it called!?

  • thismanoevre is called a "turn in the road" not a 3 point turn..... Providing you do not touch the kerb you can stil complete this excercise in 5 or 7 moves (depending on car and road sizes. you do not get only 3 moves. And it is more advisable to not use Gas mainly because you want te car to stay slow.Adequate clutch control would not need any gas. Especially in a Diesel car.mmmmm

  • Mmmh... "Find the bitting (?) point, observation : mirrors, black spot, then release the handbrake".

Your clutch will be worn at no time doing this. Rather check before hitting the friction point you should be able to find easily after a few lessons.

I learnt (and did the driving test) not using the handbrake at all.

I use it on big hills and especially in winter. Otherwise, it's perfectly safe to not use it, as long you're comfortable enough to find the famous point quickly.

  • The exterior , and the usage of the wheel segment was really helpful. The interior didnt really help cause im in Canada! but great visuals, thank you

  • @drummerpablo1 cause he is in eruope

  • The handbrake is used for safety.

Even level roads have a camber, which can cause you to lose control of the car. The only other way to prevent this would be to hold on the foot brake, which you shouldn't do.

It'll also keep your car secure if someone taps into you, too. I'd imagine your foot would come off the brake in such a situation, so the handbrake is a safety net.

And, importantly for learners, it's a requirement to pass your test.

  • @Xenctuary In America, we don't have to use our "hand break" to pass our driving test. We have been taught to only use it (we call it an emergency break) in just that, emergencies only unless you are parking on a hill. The driving instructor makes sure we are informed about how to use it, but we surely don't use it very often.

  • @IisSUMMERxx Using the handbrake in an emergency? Really? Wow, good luck with that! There's a sure fire way to induce a skid and lose control!!

  • @Xenctuary "And, importantly for learners, it's (applying the handbrake) a requirement to pass your test." NO IT'S NOT! What a load of tosh! At the end of each phase, you have stopped the car with the footbrake, so just keep the footbrake on, select the appropriate gear, observe, bite point and move. Just like YOU, every Instructor and Examiner would do in their own car!! The handbrake, in this instance, is unnecessary and time consuming.

  • @renklauf Fair point but, I always advise my pupils to apply the handbrake, remember they are practicing for a TEST and examiners are looking for you to carry out the manouevre safely and under control, not quickly and expertly!.

  • @grahamzx9r Hi Graham. I wasn't saying not to apply the handbrake - only that it's not necessary. If you teach that, it's cool. I don't teach that myself but I do ensure they keep the footbrake applied when stationary. But if they prefer to apply the handbrake, that's fine by me too. In my teaching I try to ensure they learn techniques that apply to life beyond the test. I'm teaching them to drive (that is my job after all!) not just pass a test.

  • HOW IS HE DRIVING FROM THE PASSENGER SEAT?

  • @drummerpablo1 European style lol

  • kewl if i fail my test on dis part ill kill u na effing around thnz hairy dude

  • easy for you in a fuckin cooper, my instructor teaches in a 09 titanium x for some reason.

  • get up to 35 mph, turn to full lock pull handbrake, when spun round release handbrake keeping you right foot firmly in the carpet at all times, and away you go, suave,

  • @sponge111111 nah BETTER still - Pull handbrake up FIRST once fully engaged in forward skid turn steering wheel in desired direction and then hit the front break. Super suave - esp. if you have foot on clutch and gear box in first read to sput the fcuk outta that mo'fo one in a full 180 bust a bitch turn and need ta make quick get away B-)

  • @SilentRio cool, i must be old school, rear wheel drive and all that,

  • It's funny how people don't like the uploaders comment..

  • Nice SOCKS!! Bwaarrrgghhh!!

  • This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. People who drive this slowly and cautiously should be shot. Handbreak everytime you stop, are you kidding me? Lmao

  • @AnthonyFilGeri lol

  • wheel on the right side, HOW STUPID!

  • @LMDNYC82 - listen dipshit, just because you are an american does not mean driving on the right is wrong. You are the stupid one. Get with the fucking program.

  • @sweetsassycandy LMAO I wrote that comment specifically to lure one of you angry foreigners to say something, works everytime LOL

  • well this isnt hard in a fucking mini cooper.....

  • rofl... I am always doing this across the lawn...

  • horrible shoes... automatic fail.

  • no turn lights?

  • why is it always a damn british guy doing these demonstrations

  • Gee u noobs I Dnt have a license and I can tell u y he's using the handbrake.

Test conditions result in a fail if you mount the curb.

Most roads ,in uk at least, have a small gradient from the center out.

Applying the handbrake allows you to find the braking point of the car which gives you more control when moving off.

If you used the footbrake to stop the car, then shifted and went straight on the gas it will take a second to bite and the car would roll toward the curb.

    Why risk it

  • failure to signal... automatic fail...

  • You gotta be kidding me. This is the easiest thing i do everyday and I think if anybody can't pass doing this, that person is so fail.

  • this really is good, kinda makes me want to move to england but i live in the americas so i have to find a vid with the wheel on the other side.

  • why wud u apply hand break everytime.....if its manual the clutch and the break wub b enough.....and if its auto brek wud b enough......

  • PRAYING, for my test that I get a three point turn, Im actually so good at them!

  • sexy shoes ;) haha xx thanks, this really helped...Nice clear instructions! :D

  • do you have to use the hand brake everytime?

  • @thekewlho not on a three point turn, you just control the car with the clutch to prevent it stalling. You only use your handbreak when the car actually stops for a longer period

  • Hi. I have my test monday. Does it matter how perfect i do the three point turn or any of the menovers or are they just examining me on how safely i do it?

  • Hi. I have my test monday. Does it matter how perfect i do the three point turn or are they just examining me on how safely i do it?

  • @pyroboy08

    I just Did that earlier

    And let me tell u

    They not being specific

    They not explaining it proper

Ur suppost to turn the steering wheel quick

And off the gas let it roll and give it gas when the car is straight

  • If you really want to use the handbrake for doing a U-turn, get a bit of speed, like 20 km/h, slam the steering wheel to the right. Once the left springs begin to be being pushed in, pull the handbrake really fast and HARD ;-)

  • At my driving lessons they tried to learn me to drive in an safe, economic and comfortable way. Pulling the handbrake for every time you reach 0km/h won't do the economic part not much good. After one year you can replace your handbrake :p The normal brake is much more powerful and will do the job plenty.

  • The handbrakes only used for drifting, noob

  • the handbrake is used because thats the way it is taught by instructors today.

  • do they care whether you do all the stuff with the hand brake aswell???

  • Lol everyone hates Manuel I love it more and more everytime I drive. And haha my American driving instructor always had me rush thru a y turn as fast as possible at least 4 times fAster than this guy lol

  • Why always using the handbrake?!?! Brake pedal is optionnal on that vehicle?

  • Now, why would you use the handbreak..

  • @Adderiandei so u dont roll back or forward and hit the curb if theres a slope.

  • @Adderiandei its stick shift, it could roll back.

  • @Adderiandei to keep the car from rolling....it's a stick

  • @Adderiandei standard transmission

  • @Adderiandei depend on the asshole you are taking a test with if you are planning to get a lisence

  • @Adderiandei apparently you don't know that cars with a manual transmission don't have the park feature

  • his car sucks! damn stick shift!

  • @enosmonay15 In this country if you pass your test in an automatic you don't have the option of driving a manual geared car. If you pass in a manual, you have the option of driving an automatic. Manuals are also more popular here. The fact is, it takes more skill to drive a manual, but its also more rewarding, gives greater control, better fuel economy, improved performance and better reliability.

  • @enosmonay15 Automatics are for cowards and politicians. Seriously, 90% of all cars in Europe have an manual transition (stick shift). In the UK (where this was filmed) if you pass your driving test in an automatic you are only entitld to drive an automatic, which are more expensive both to buy and run.

Also manuals are just more FUN. We need the extra control, our roads have these things called CORNERS in them, unlike yours, which are straight, even when they're changing direction. ^^

  • driving on right side?

can realy picture doing that tell i saw this uk stil rocks tho .usa

  • sure thanks, i'm taking mine tomoro, i hope i pass!

  • a bit confused, was that a full steering wheel turn he did? the full off, sorry if I spelled it wrongly

  • or to save time, pull hand brake and turn steering wheel as much as u can. try this in a parking lot at first, dont try and do it on ur first driving test or in a crowded street.

  • nice tips

  • nice tips

  • this manouver is simply

  • nice burning the clutch, why use the handbrake???

  • Make sure you tell people that this is the way you would do a 3-point turn in Europe, not in America, because Americans drive on the right side of the road. You don't want people complaining thatg they failed because they went to the left side of the road to make the turn and failed.

  • I fail my test because of blind spot, but no explanation on turn in the road, the examiner told me to ask my instructor and I don't have one as I have full driving licence from Greece but I can not exchange it as it was the old fashion so I need to get the new one or go for driving test,in Greece it cost 1200 to get the licence but I can see here it is gonna cost the same as everytime I have to pay 62 for practical 20 an hour for instructor while I know how to drive

  • whats with all the handbrakes? No need for it.

  • why do u keep pulling the hand brakes ????

  • @gammah1 to stop the car from rolling, what do u think

  • lol, three point turns arn't that hard did one on the 5th time of driving

  • seems simple

  • @chc033044

    AHHAHAHA LOL!!!!!

  • Takes about half an hour.

  • excellent !

  • are the uk cars different from american cars?

  • @Genese242 What do you think idiot

  • @rand0mlyrand0m u have nothing better to do than replying to others comments in a rude distasteful way you can call me an idiot but that doesnt make u any less pathetic and you can reply to this if you want to but trust me im not into arguing on the computer because unlike you i have a life go get one yourself there free!!!!!

  • @Genese242 Shut up bitch, get back in the kitchen.

  • Really great video - helped me out a lot - thanks =D

  • the handbrake is optional you don't have to aply it everytime

  • do you really have to put on the hand break?

  • yep!

  • Set 1st, relase handbrake, apply handbrake, select reverse, relase handbrake, apply handbrake, select 1st, relase handbrake AND GET THE FUCK OUTTAHERE before the 60 drivers you made wait for 5 mins come to beat you !

And btw.. leave the handbrake alone and find a use for that brake PEDAL !! °_°

  • @Nox665 it takes two minutes to do a turn in the road.when i learnt,i did have to use my handbrake which i think is good until you get more confident

  • do you have to always signal at a junction even when there are no cars or people?

  • @windogmassey1 its best to signal because you might not be aware of someone and because its good practice, so u get used to doing it every time correctly even if no one or no cars are around

  • @dilly578 you warn the people is passing by, bikes. People need to do it all the time, i hate how people think they are the owners of the street.

  • @dilly578 I still signal when no one's around, just as a good habit.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying it helps me stay sharp so I don't do like some other people on the road and forget to signal when there ARE other road users around.

  • @dilly578

    Yes lol.

  • @dilly578 are you mad,,, what about invisible government stealth vehicles, ?????

  • fail no signal, where did u learn to drive.

  • @Killa66B you have to signal only if there is someone behind you otherwise who are you signalling to?

  • ha ha ha I lolled at handbrake for selecting reverse

  • Thats a FAIL!!!! You didnt signal. You have to indicate to pass!!

  • @theJACKSON10 I didn't indicate and I passed. You're already doing a TURN in a road, so it's obvious where you're going once the car is halfway turned.

  • @jennymar Well In New Zealand that would be a fail, you have to indicate left at first, then once its safe indicate right..

  • these turns are easy?

  • yes, just remember to signal.

  • seems stupid but if you dont do it [at least in wisconsin] like perfect you get an instant fail which is a bitch

  • thank youu =]]

  • Handbrake, i.e EMERGENCY brake. Every car has one, some are in the form of a pedal, some are in the form of a hand brake.

  • why bodering puting the handbrake on and off all the time? just leave it on and you got one part covered ;)... duh.. lame...

  • Sure, leave it on. Then when it randomly stops working you can just buy a new one... duh... lame...

  • i hope your not serious, if you left your handbrake on you'd own your car.

  • @tataatthedisco i was just making fun of this vid.. ;)

  • Hi friends this is a protesting action

against UK London and Cardiff Wales

    please watch this video.

copy and paste this reference: P4QqzVEbVzw

into youtube searchbox to see why.

    thanks for your support.

  • Manual, so he doesnt roll into the gutter or anything when finding the spot where the car takes of in the clucth or someshit

  • brMez... you DO NOT signal for ANY manoeuvre.

  • yeh, only after you've performed a reverse round the corner or a parralel park when you're moving out but thats obvious.

  • This is really helpful. I had no idea how to do a 3 point turn. Now I do. Cheers

  • when you do that turn do you start looking the mirror left or right?

  • ive got mine in 2 days and you dont need to put the hand brake up that just takes too long. just use the brake pedal. and the video didnt mention that you HAVE to indicate when starting the 3 point turn and finishing it otherwise points will be taken off on the test

  • 3 more weeks for me!!!!!

  • wow that really sux ima take mine tommorow hopefully i pass it =/

  • good luck can you tell me how it goes? i'm nervous too and i'm taking mine on the 9th.

  • i failed it =( i did a critical driving error when i was almost done

  • oo. i'm sorry. that would suck!!!!!! dont worry we learn from mistakes atleast now you know what its like :) good luck next time.

  • yeah thanx good luck to u too

  • @YUMO27479 G00D LUCK N00B AHAHAH

  • i failed my test 2day for the 1st time .. the instructor was very weird nd rude which made me nervous n he made me do all d manouvers on uphill which is so not fair.. even turn in a road on uphill bloody asshole! o yeah he looked like a robocop wid his freaky sugnlasses on which made me laugh so badly... but i cried after he said i failed!

  • haha. i am soooooooooo sorry!!! i would cry too!!!!! i hope that dont happen to me. good luck nest time :)

  • Wrong side of the road in the U.S.! If you try this when you get your license it'll be a definite fail! lol!

  • Ive got my test soon instructor says im ready but im so scared haha

  • I found this video very useful...thanks:))

  • You have to signal from where I'm from, it's like a state law or something I think

See the way I was taught was that you put your left signal on while pulling over to the right side of the curb, when you get to the curb then you put your right signal on

Apparently it tells someone that you're trying to turn around

Making a 3 point turn is simple, making a 2 point turn is hard as shit =/

  • arctic monkeys are the best of all time

  • YOU FORGOT TO SIGNAL!

  • u dont signal doing a 3 point turn :)

  • You do in Ontario, lol.

  • o sorry :P

  • You'd be surprised at the number of instructors who tell their students to turn the wheels while the car is completely stopped. That's stupid. It strains the car's direction and tires, as well as your arms...

  • wow this man pullss the clutchh and then he letss go off the handrake??? watt a deuchee wonder how long does ur clutch lastt u 2 weeks? 3 if urr lucky?

  • why the fuck would you pull the e-brake??? that is damn stupid. i never do that. and yes. i do drive a standard.

  • its too easy to do that turn hahah

  • did you take it yet?

  • I don't use the handbrake when i reselect gears, just push in the clutch then brake, hold the brake in and reselect the gear at will.

  • 3 point turn is easy for me

my test it today, hope i get bay park and 3 point turn

  • did u pass?

  • no, i did a reverse around a corner and 3 point turn, did well on both, but i missed a no entry sign and got 1 major :(

    re-taking it soon

  • this isnt hard!

  • it's different in england, obviously.

  • i perfer 1 handbrake drop clutch point turns , stresses the tyres abit but is alot quicker and uses less gas so its environmentally frendly too :)

  • No turn signals?

  • why would you use indicators on a 3 point turn ?
