  • I find it hard to believe that anyone could not like this its amazing!!

  • in a strange way i find myself strongly attracted to Jonsi, something about him is very intriguing...too bad he's gay:(

  • @VivedAmour "Too bad he's gay"?! Does him being gay make him any less "intriguing" somehow? What an ignorant thing to say.

  • @radiogirl85 no, not in the least...sigur ros will never cease to intrigue me. its just 'too bad' that he's taken:( A girl's allowed to fantasize isnt she??

  • @VivedAmour Oh, I see your point, sorry. Thought you meant something else. Funny, the gay aspect doesn't take anything away from me that way. Hope it doesn't for you either. ;-)

  • The smile of Kjartan at 2:54 means everything.

  • @aimtato oh wow...how on earth did you catch that--and yes, i wholeheartedly agree..

  • looks like "Ok Go" from Jónsi's new album.

  • It's amazing how such a simple song can evoke such powerful emotions

  • They are just send from god himself

  • Unmistakable Elegance.

  • It's incredible. It's so perfect that even when it seems he is slightly off pitch it sounds better, more genuine. I've been listening to this youtube video for years and it still gets me.

I want to see them live again.

I want to make music that makes me want to live the same way this does. . .

  • If there is a better group of individuals playing music I'd be 100% surprised. There's something about Sigur Ros that captivates me on a level of Soul.

  • jónsi sang most songs in icelandic but a few of the songs were sung in 'hopelandic'. all of the vocals ( ) are however in hopelandic. hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic) is the 'invented language' in which jónsi sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. it's of course not an actual language by definition (no vocabulary, grammar, etc.), it's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument.

  • the only difference between jonsi's "hopelandic" as people call it, and the 'language' other vocalists use prior to writing lyrics, is that sigur ros actually release songs using it, whereas other artists scrap it and write lyrics. Of course, it is a more refined and polished version of the original 'language', but it should be noted that all vocalists do the same or similar with new songs

  • Kind to the heart, a poke to the soul.

  • the words are not icelandic words.. they are not real words at all. they are made up sounds.. they call it hopelandic.

  • think of it as another instrument

  • I am not sure because I do not speak any scandinavian language, but are you sure he is not singing in icelandic? there are some songs with Icelandic lyrics. Others have mixed Icelandic and indefinite vocals. A few are entirely void of coherent interpretable language, like Von ("hope"). I am curious if this is indeed one of those songs.

  • One of the great desires in my life is to experience the music of Sigur Ros live. Their music translates so well over film, I can only imagine a live performance carrying even greater power. They are haunting and unique, and I very much respect what they do.

  • Here here.

  • not unique. collective.

  • youuu saw..

    youu saw..

this is fantastic..you can find your own lyrics in his Icelandic words. :]

  • his voice reminds me of the lead singer of radiohead in this video

  • i just heard a version of this song with real lyrics(Icelandic) its beautiful too!

  • Orri, marry me!!!!

  • what song is this?

  • beauty...

  • rare music,masterpiece....

  • "The Savior on their side"

    ...

    "The Savior on my side"

    ...

    "The Savior on my eyes"

    Great!

  • wow, thats beautiful. gives shivers the whole way!!

  • okaay new favourite band of the moment.

  • man, I want that acoustic bass...

  • wow icelandic is such a beautiful language

  • they are speaking a language which is a mix of icelandic and words that are basically jibberish that flow with the music. Not exactly icelandic, but yes the language is beautiful

  • wha... u sure of that? .. are you icelandic?

  • they're not singing in icelandic here... it's just english .. with a very icelandic accent xD

  • haha ok but whatever he is singing sounds amazing

  • they are singing in an invented language called hopelandic... wonderful

  • this is the best, so beautiful

  • massive!!!

    mmmmmmmmm

  • This song is like a smack in the face which makes me realise that im alone in this world, its like im screaming but no-one can hear me. its kind of a good feeling. Love the song.

  • When we are born we are two. My mother is not alive anymore. I felt alone even when she was here. I loved her the most. Because of her I became addicted to love. Nobody loves me. I love this bands music too.

  • I do believe I have found my new favorite band! :D

  • If it was illegal to play anything except for sigur ros in a vehicle while a child is present-the world would be a much better place. all schools should have this band playing faintly in every classroom and during recess and lunch too.

  • He kinda looks like Spock with a beard.

  • This music makes me glad I'm having a child. It's comforting to know that with the world the way it is today, that there's still some beauty left to surround my kid in.

  • @dindindinner What a beautiful comment. congratulations! This song is wonderful

  • @dindindinner wow that was kind of an amazing thing to say... I truly hope your child has a wonderful time on this maddening, silly old planet,

    best,

    -d

  • sorry... in wich album is this song?????

  • only a special song for this film...

  • It is on the japanese version of Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust as a bonus track.

  • <33333

  • shit love this song, tried to play it but it seems that the tunning is something else. anyone could help me? id like to sing this to the woman thatll be my wife!

  • wow

  • a whole step actually

  • it's hard to play on a single guitar but the g string is tuned up a half step i believe

  • thanks yall i found some tabs with the right tunning

  • no it's a whole step up

  • This music is beautiful !

  • O olha do vocalista fez eu lembrar de um filósofo existencialista francês.........................

  • What language is he singing? Is it English or what?

By the way, it's an amazing song! It touches my heart. I wish I could understand what he's saying...

  • icelandic. there isnt one song from them i dont like. they also sing in gibberish. words they make up lol

  • haha thats so cool. i love them even more for that now. thankyou.

  • I think the beauty of Sigur Ros' music is that comprehention of the lyrics isnt needed to appreciate the emotion and passion behind each track! I know where your coming from though

  • wow this is simply the most beautiful and touching song i've heard...really wonderful...kudos to sigur ros =D

btw...does anyone know the name of this song? =)

  • Icelandic for "at home" or "homeland"

  • I am Icelandic, and for me this is a love song to Iceland, but not only that, it is love for life, for nature of which we all are a part of and treat so cruely. If this kind of music would be played when international seminars take decisions on the base of our lives, environment, we would not have any future problems. thanks to you sigurrós, thanks to all of you who get connected, wonderful.

  • it's a pleasure. i really like to come in iceland but still too expensive........

  • Sigur Rós:Heima (Englishn Translation) One thousand years in words A thousand words which carve me to death Without guts, we still get hurt I need to get out One thousand words in years A thousand years which tell the whole story No one sees, behind empty words There's always something The last tears shed I wipe them off The last years of a lifetime The last years lived The last rivers flow away The wounds yes, they heal One thousand words in deaths
  • Why are you bullshitting? This is not the lyric to this song. This song in totally in Hopelandic.

  • lol

  • Those are the translated lyrics to the icelandic version of this song, which was only released in japan as a bonus track on their latest album(the one with the bums on the cover). This particular clip is indeed sung in hopelandic.

  • AMO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AMO!!!!!!!!!!!!

    também...

  • why is it people always compare radiohead to sigur ros??/???

totally different in their own way, both good but different...

  • Great great....I was not a fan but a friend from work opened my eyes.

    Thanks to him!

  • what an amazing band, i love them like i don't love radiohead, or even muse..

    great, really great song..

and they are so unexplainably marvelous.

    love them.

  • wow. their freaking awesome!

  • OMG I just got back from seing them in Blackpool

    It was beautiful.

  • this song is just untitled isn't it?

  • they changed my life.

  • lovely.

  • I Wonder if Sigur Rós sing A song with Bjork.

    What it will be ?

  • they did... there's a vid somewhere of them playing gobbledigook

  • i love hopelandic :]

everytime i listen to this song it makes me think of a person you lost but who's gone in peace.

  • Couldn't look away. *g*

  • amazing band. extraordinary.

and their videos are fantastic, all.

  • This music is beautiful

  • how could they made such a beautiful unordinary song??

    perfect heart touching music!!!

  • Sigur Rós = Beauty from another world...

    <3

  • WONDERFUL sigurros touch my soul :)

  • what a great band, it' just perfect, and everybody should know it

  • PERFECTION

  • It;s about aleister crowley

  • So extraordinarily moving and heartwarming...

  • What's the name of this song? Is It Heima, like a film?

  • My only drug (L)

  • wow, what a braingasm.

  • perfect!

  • who needs english, use your imagination!

  • agree!

  • does anybody else think that the intro sounds a bit like Salka?

  • so beautiful.

  • impressive, like always...

i've seen Heima for thousand times.

you're teh OST of my life

    gracies ;)

  • Enaku -the word 'nigger', like 'gay' , was 'just a sound' in your scheme of things - yet it was/is used as a way of keeping a group of people oppressed - as the word 'gay' to mean 'bad' is now being used to attempt to psychologically denegrate a group of people.

As is the word 'Breeder' used increasingly to denote straights.

Anyway, that's enough trying to reason with bigots - my comment was directed at those who might suffer from such remarks to know that there are sane people out here.

  • þið eruð ótrúlegir !

Jónsi , þú syngur yndislega !

    Takk fyrir... :)

  • brought a tear to my eye

  • Brilliant Song!

  • Is this track available? Its not on Hvarf/Heim, at least not in this form. Anyone know where to get it or has anyone pulled this audio to mp3? I am not as familiar with doing that sort of thing.

  • I think this is the acustic version of Salka - I didn't know such a version existed. I still can't find the mp3.

  • I find this track in a collection of mp3 from "Heima". The only track i can't find is the acoustic version of Untitled 4.

  • Where is this "collection" of mp3s from Heima. I have the movie, did I miss some mp3 files somewhere on the DVDs?

  • Give me your msn contact and i ll send it to you

  • dude please send me this song!!

  • do you have the english subtitles of heima..

  • it's all fantasy.... :D

  • homophobic language like 'that is gay (=bad) ' is either mentally retarded, evil or simply fundamentalist. - or any combination thereof.

  • Nonsense. The word "gay" has simply changed/lost its meaning, or gained a new one. It's just a sound, and people can use it however they choose.

  • i have no idea what there saying but its still amazing

  • they actually don't either apparently :P

I think in the documentary they mention that they make up their own words for the songs and that Jónsi sees his voice more like an instrument than singing.

Thats what makes Sigur Ros so brilliant! :D

  • yeh i read that its a made up language called hopelandic

  • it's certainly an interesting way to escape the chains of lyrical creativity.

  • Damn right, it's why they are in the top three bands in the world right now.

  • This version is amazing

  • joejode.. sry you feel this way but music is beautifull and apparently you dont and will never feel that concept.. you should be accepting to other songs not putting them down becasuse the point is you can drift away in it.. I only wish I had there job.. and in a way I do.

  • Whats the point to you staing alive???

  • try buying the album if you want the song. i know its a weird concept

  • wow! what are beautiful guiter sounds. he play very good.. i love it

  • does anyone know where to find an audio download of this for an mp3? it's so good :)

  • well you can serch on a torrent searcher or buy the album. google it

  • one of my favourite songs full stop, i love this

  • Anyone know where I can get the tab for this one?

  • I don't know the tab but from listening, the high line on the guitar at the start is an A sharp high note on the second string, then an A, then an E, repeat then after the E go to a D then an A on the third string.

Maybe you can work out the rest from that?

  • so beautiful

  • possibly the most perfect recording of sigur ros ever. and this song is amazing. :)

  • Where is this song on the Heima Film, I downloaded it but can't seem to find it?

  • I think its on the 2nd disc of the dvd, but it's not in the main film

  • this is so beautiful.

  • oops sorry i think you're right now that i've listened to it again

  • if anyone wants to know this song is called salka but its played a lot slower on "Heima"

  • i don't think that's true. salka is a lot slower, but it's not similar enough to be the same as heima. and as much as i love salka, heima is simply a better song with a better melody.

  • yeah man this song ain't salka.

  • this music makes me want to be with everyone i love

  • is this icelandic? I mean, the song is in icelandic?

  • No, it's in "hopelandic".

  • according to Jonsi "hopelandic" is just a BS word that a reporter named his lyrics.

  • yup, that's why I had it in quotes ;)

  • it sure is-check out their album...it is absolutely amazing!

  • i just know this artis. can you tell me what it the name of album is this? or any salka music album. thank you.

  • beautiful...

  • amazing.

I sort of get tired of people saying the vocals are made up words though. According to Jonsi it's just "bullshit"

  • yeah...he either sings in icelandic...or "hopelandic" which he does say is "bullshit"...it's like...humming or making random noises...he is just singing...using his voice as another instrument.

  • takk

  • kjartan has used that guitar a lot.

his has "pits" on many frets where his fingerboard is struck for a note (1:55/3:35).

my guitar only has a few.

mostly under the first fret on the 5th string from playing a tonne of C major and A minor chords.

there is a reason why this song is so beautiful. there is a lot of background to those guitars.

  • this is really a beautiful song.. but I even prefer the version with the piano I heard live here on youtube..

but now is it icelandic? don't get it ..

    it seems english really

but I don't get all the words

  • The lyrics are made-up words.

  • you sure?

not really sure i understand what u mean with made-up words (i'm not english)

but, i'm so sure he use a lot of english words in any way.. like surround, eyes, my side...

  • When songs like this don't make the cut for an album, you know the band is good :D

  • This is the best Sigur Ros song yet. I love it. I was very disappointed that it wasn't included on Heim. I'm glad that this was posted. This is what I'm most looking forward to tomorrow when the DVD is released in America.

  • When I listen to your music, I wanna hug people and smile.

    Thanks, really, thanks.

  • Can someone tell me why this song isn't on the Hvarf/Heim cd? It's a great song, and it's new.. just doesn't make sense that it's on the dvd but not the cd.

  • maybe they recorded the cd before making/finishing this beautiful song

  • the film is named Heima.

    the song is Heima

    it is the ultimate soundtrack.

    it belongs in the film,

    not on an audio disc.

    you agree?

  • it is amazing to see rather than just hear.

  • agreed.
