  • A glutton is a glutton is a glutton. If these people have to go to this place more than once, they've learned nothing and never will. Don't waste time on repeat offenders because they just don't get it.

  • lawd have mercy I feel bad for that car.

  • The "love story" between Annette and her man is disgusting.....and they are truly special needs people. And what's with the missing teeth? Damn!

  • @mrbrandon71 LOL you soo crazy

  • First of all the girlfriend is stupid because if she really loved him she would want him to go to brook haven and get better. Plus if she knows he has sleep apnea or whatever why is she letting him drive? Why can't she drive?? She's stupid

  • sleep apnea in UK will result in loss of driving licence...dont know what score is in America.

  • His girlfriend would be more conducive if she was supportive and struggled through her short term pain... in exchange for health

lol @ "Bless the car so it won't break down"

  • @KEISHAHALL ROFL! OMG you silly, but not wrong.

  • 2:52-5:23=smh

  • I feel bad for the guy, but driving 9 hours when you know you have sleep apnea? He even said "I know I'm gonna fall asleep on the road". Don't be so selfish..you could harm other people on the road.

  • Haha look at those fat fucks! When was the last time they seen their weiners?

  • @playlistchannel1 Duh! This comment is so unoriginal and boring. That stupid remark is so overused and cliché. You're nothing.

  • @playlistchannel1 Don't be stupid and uncompassionate.... besides, when was the last time you saw urs?

  • My heart goes out to George. I know how painful and miserable it can be when you are morbidly obese. I weigh 500 lbs myself, and I pray to God that I can find the inner strength to loose my weight and be happy again.

  • They should just create a new country called Obesia, and in this country there is no modern transport of any kind, and you have to grow your own food, that's where they should stick these people when they leave the clinic.

  • @luke666808g I'm pretty sure there are places like that allready bud. Don't you think that's a bit harsh? food addiction is as legit as alcoholism, drug and sex addiction etc. After they leave the clinics they need constant support, love and understanding, I myself was 302 lbs in 2005, now 190 lbs and trust me it wasn't easy. Losing the weight is the easy part, keeping it off is the HARD part

  • yeah but 300 pounds isn't really Obese, I was 300 pounds just 6 months ago, I'm 270 now and working my way down to 220, which is skinny for my height and build, anyways, now that I've gotten used to my diet it's not that hard to follow, I don't sit around craving chips put it that way.

  • wow im 220 and 6'2" NOW and i get ridiculed for being obese! i dont like to go out and i never swim in public. i guess its different in canada?

  • @586guest2 6'2" and 220 and you get ridiculed for being obese??? As far as I know thats not obese. Yeah i guess its different in canada

  • well its just at the obese limmit. i have a bmi of like 29 and i fluxuate about 10lbs daily so in the morning im not obese but in the evening my bmi is 30 and im medically obese. in canada there are very few obese people. i have been to america anualy and when i stop at a mcdonalds or something i feel really thin, some people are huge and its really sad i feel for them. anyways thanks every little bit helps

  • i have been moved to another position--i'm still concerned about co-worker-and she has a good job-better than mine-but she seemed to have been angry that i watch my weight--so she has now surrounded herself with people i know who indulge with her in overeating-i know she is unhappy and unhealthy

  • this co-worker--and i want to see someo-one i know be healthy too--this co-woker--goes to restaurants--and wastes her money and appetite--on fatty foods-i used to eat with her--but begged off--i tried to talk to her--but she won't listen-her doctor told her she has to lose a lot to get surgery-she has to change her eating habits-but she gets mad and shrugs it off--i was concerned-now the doc won't do her sugery until weight is lost-she still eating grossly-has gained even more

  • i had a co-worker who watched what i wore--and i told her that i had to watch what i ate--and some times i even slipped--but i gets back on track--and i also find some time at work--to go for a walk at lunchtime--get some sort of exercise. This co-worker weighed close to 400 lbs--and has signed up for bariatric surgery--she looks for a quick fix--but because of the way she eats--she has to lose weight to get the surgery.

  • it's horrific that you are so heartless and don't want to feed starving children

  • obese people should be killed and made into sausages and sent to 3rd world countries to feed the starving children

  • by -pass or lap-band surgery should not be viewed as a quick-fix you still have to learn to eat properly or you will even with this-- gain the weight back

  • dear vincent-you cannot be out "chillin" or whatever you call it--until you lose at least 300 pounds--you cannot be stubborn--you will die, you idiot! by the way; when was the last time you seen your dick?

  • @melollylolly i was thinking the exact same thing...when was the last time he's seen it? is it still there? lol poor baby hope they get their stuff together for their own wellbeing

  • The world is fucked.

  • Yeah the world is very much fucked with stupid bitches like you and the rest of these dumbasses making stupid ass comments. it takes a big mother fucker to talk about others over the internet.

  • I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't trying to be offensive. It's a general statement: The world is fucked.

I completely sympathize with the people on this show.

  • how do those guys get insurance, im like 360 pounds and i want to get into a place like this but im insurancless

  • I don't think they do get regular private insurance (unless they were already insured or employed with a company that has a good contract with an insurance company that has to take everybody). I think they probably have medicaid. Just a guess, but being morbidly obese is a disability so perhaps it gets them on the medicaid dole along with poverty from not being able to work.

  • Ok, question as I'm watching this...why can't Annette drive the car if he's gonna fall asleep driving? That's more useful than sitting in the back seat praying.

  • Because these people are unable to take the reins on their own lives and have become used to having decisions made for them, even life or death decisions.

  • What does that have to do with her driving? Annette took control of her life and is losing weight.

And it's not her life that's in jeopardy and she's not the one going back to the clinic. It would seem that George is the one "taking the reins" literally by driving himself back to the clinic.

  • taking the reins to have decisions made for him yet again because he's incapable of showing restraint even if it means he'll be dead if he's unable to do so.

the woman begins praying, which is a way to take responsibility off george's and her shoulders. She could have relied on herself, and you're right she should have taken the wheel at least for a little while, but instead chose not to.

Disability and all that aside, these people sure are acting like cowards.

  • Just two things--

Praying doesn't take responsibility off anyone's shoulder. Praying is simply asking for guidance and strength from a higher power. It's still their responsibility. It won't just happen for them because she prays.

Also, they are not cowards. It takes a lot of courage to admit you've gotten to a place where you can't help yourself and go somewhere where you can get the help you need to get control back in your life.

  • Of course it's their responsibility. She didn't ask for guidance, she asked for divine intervention ie. "don't let the car break down".

The guy could simply diet and exercise and he will have to do this at one point. Instead, he risks his life, his passenger's life, and other driver's lives by driving when he himself admits he shouldn't be.

He's just being realistic and very selfish while doing so, and what he's briefly undaunted by was only so he could go back to being coddled.

  • I don't see why Annette is devestated when George is going to get help.

  • lol i came across this crazy show while flipping channels one day XD...anywayz i think she's upset cuz she loves him and she hates having to fight her battle alone. but i completely agree with you about the driving thing, that was just pathetic lol. "lemme pray to god while i risk my life" lol

  • EAT A SALAD

  • Can someone explain to me how these people even have medical insurance if they are unable to work because of their weight.

    Thanks

  • Some probably work at home or they have insurance because of their spouse.

  • Some of the people in this documentary surely have disability or state insurance too.

  • Well its nice to know that my our hard earned tax dollars are keeping these worthless pieces of shit alive so they can keep binge eat and sit on the couch all day while I have to go to school and work every day.

  • I work every day too, and have been to school while working two jobs. And I'm trying to lose weight on my own. However, there are people who need help. As long as they work at it, they deserve to be there. Just because they're very obese doesn't mean they're worthless pieces of shit.

  • just stop eating so much...ffswhat a mess george /vincent are in...crazy...imagine george in traffic accident in that car...no way should he be driving in his poor state of health and size.

  • well la -dee-fuckin-dah

god what was the point of listing all of that shit , do you want a medal ?

  • well la -dee-fuckin-dah

god what was the point of listing all of that shit , do you want a medal ?

  • man on a serious note... bernie mac just died u hear bout that? crazy

  • pretty sure u don't need a college degree to live healthy and know what's good and bad for ur body lol yeah duh quality is important, u can't eat 1000 cals of potatoe chips blah blah but u can't eat 4000 calories of veggies ya know wat i'm sayin?

  • The type of food is extremely important, If you had a person eat a 1000 calories of fatty foods and another eat a 1000 of healthy veggies, the first person would feel fatigue, sick, and even depressed. certain foods effect the hormones in our body's and even in small portions bad foods can effect a persons ability to exercise and loose weight.

Oh btw calories are a measurement of how much energy it takes to raise a gram of water 1 °C. It didn't sound like you understood that. Watch (ssm)

  • that was sarcasm dickwad... i'm glad ur arguing w/a 19 yr old kid. just the fact that u took the time to look at my profile c'mon guy? if someone were to read our dialogue i'm pretty sure they'd mark u the kid here. if ur as grown as u sound surely u have a job and wouldn't be arguing w/a kid bout to go to college, over some small comment, let alone. I know i offended u by giving my opinion, wow go figure i gave my opinion on a comments page... ps. swearing means u win by default riiiiight

  • oh god sarge plz don't threaten me rofl i'm shakin over here. i feel like i'm communicating w/my 13 yr old bro... c'mon we're both adults here aren't we? where and when did i claim to be scientific? i referenced that, only by means to say that i could get into more detail about the types of food ppl eat. i just think the problem is more in quantity not quality

  • no i'm just saying alot of ppl blame carbs and certain sugars rather than how many calories they take in. uh calling me stupid, that's a good way to make a point, u win by default...lmao internet hardass

  • @afroballer33 i agree it's simplistic - but for a lot of us, avoiding refined carbs shuts off hunger and makes eating less calories easy.

Also the thing with sugars - it's concentrated calories with no satiety and the whole insulin roller coaster. I've seen slices of cake with the same calories as 2 lbs of prime rib. Hardly anyone could eat that much meat but a lot of us can finish the slice of cake, then be hungry shortly after!

  • The "cheaters" in this program especially strike me as colossal wastes of humanity. The clinic's director says he can't ban food because those who cheat will be inclined to just go home and die. What's wrong with that?

  • Him hiding in the car.. so sad and such a PERFECT example.

She tried for weeks 2 get him 2 go out with her, he pushed himself physically to the limit just TRYING to get to that table; & what happens? So many people staring he feels ashamed & embarrassed that he goes hides,& eats, the goal of doing something together, getting out of the house, AND being away from food for a few hours ALL DESTROYED.

Couldn't ONE person have shook his hand and said 'Good to see you here! Hope you come next week"?

  • I've learned something from this show and the comments - next time I see a really obese person outside, instead of automatically judging negatively and thinking "look how fat, how awful, should be on a diet" I'll think "this person probably IS on a diet, and is trying to move around, exercise or socialize".

Instead of thinking 'lazy', I'll think, man I bet it would be so much easier for him/her to stay at home and hide from all these critical eyes. Kudos for keeping moving!"

  • andynuts, shouldn't you have empathy instead of resentment for these people? I know how hard it is to be obese, yet I was only 260 pounds compared to 500 + pounds, so I feel sorry for these people.

  • whats wrong with the world. we were fine without all this processed artificial crap thats killing off our society one by one. if u ask me, if we never made this crap then we wouldnt have these kinds of problems so often.

  • Have any of the staff struggled with obesity? In drug rehab, the best counselors are those who are also drug addicts. It doesn't seem like anyone helping really understands first hand, through experience, their situations. This doesn't seem good. But then again, how many people fully physically recover and stay recovered?

  • wow, hope u get to meet those obese people who die and ask them what they think of ur comment. just cause ur in the situation doesnt mean u have the right to insult it.

  • look what the black woman is eating.White bread covered with high fat margarine.I mean talk about stupid.

  • Oh yeah and let's not forget those disgusting processed high fat meat slices loaded with sugar and salt.

  • they need the food to live so they cant cut food out completely but she's monitoring the amount she eats.

  • I wouldn't consider what their eating food. What's wrong with eating a peice of fruit or some vegertables thats food too isn't it?Let's face it they just want to eat crap.Greasy fast food and nothing else.

  • No ...but she could use brown bread instead of white and leave of the margerine and use real meat instead of processed meat slices.

  • They're going through all this for vincent so he can be "out stoned"?! Give his spot to someone else!

  • The Vincent guy has an attitude.Kick him out as he doesn't want to follow rules. He's just taking up space and oxygen.

  • Wouldn't these folks benefit from cutting out processed carbs? I mean, even "normal weight" people who consume high glycemic foods eventually wind up with insulin resistance. It's kind of odd to see white bread and pasta on those plates. I'd go all veggies, low GL fruits, and lean meats for the first week or two, then introduce controlled portions of whole grains. Really, blood glucose levels make a huge difference in your weight and behavior.

  • "Wouldn't these folks benefit from cutting out processed carbs? I mean, even "normal weight" people who consume high glycemic foods eventually wind up with insulin resistance. It's kind of odd to see white bread and pasta on those plates."

This is a major aspect of the problem. I think a lot of the people have poor education, do what is easy (like wrapping a hot dog in a piece of bread), and don't know how to cook tasty healthy vegetables. Then there's the problems of habit, cravings, etc.

  • that aspect is blaming the types of foods when the solution is to simply not eat so much and get off their ass and be active or they end up immobile (like they are) ppl blame too many petty things when in reality it boils down to how much food u stick in your mouth, and how many calories u burn(i could get scientific lol). the only reason they are so big is because they are lazy and eat too much. it's not petty things like enriched carbs or too much glucose blah blah, it's toooooo many calories

  • this is strait hood. you just taped it from the teevee

  • Insurance companies are criminal. That's where the real problems are.

  • KungFu17, I agree with you 110%. All insurance companies care about is money.

  • bullshit. these fat asses need to take responsibility for themselves and stop crying

  • only someone who hasn't been tested in his own way past his own limits would say something like that. consider yourself lucky then, that everything remains in your control, but know you're situation isn't the prototype for all.

  • "only someone who hasn't been tested in his own way past his own limits would say something like that. consider yourself lucky then, that everything remains in your control, but know you're situation isn't the prototype for all."

This is a good, insightful comment. No wonder it got 10 thumbs up.

  • I would be so ashamed if I was Annette's boyfriend -going back to that place would be absolute failure. However I really don't think this clinic is the answer...these people need more than that, perhaps Weight Loss Surgery

  • See, I think the Brookhaven approach is more holistic -- it actually tries to get at and fix the source of the problem, rather than cutting out most of the person's stomach and fixing the symptoms, without helping the underlying issues at all. Plus, people who've had gastric bypass, etc, actually can gain most or all of the weight back if they eventually go back to old habits.

  • While a few people that have WLS have failed, the statistics are that more than 90% of people that have had WLS are a true success. When u have WLS u don't just get a "here you go you've lost 200 lbs!" U have to follow your surgeon's regimen strictly. WLS is just a tool to help u get to your goal, but u still have to do all the work. I would recommend u visit Obesityhelp dot com and u can see for yourself all the success WLS stories and find my profile "Carla L" -Lap RNY scheduled for 07/23!

  • Part of these people's problem is that they CAN'T just follow a diet. I suppose seeing it as a medical procedure instead of food restriction can help, but still... I hate that people use gastric bypass as the quick-n-easy weight loss method instead of actually facing their issues. It's such a copout.

  • You wouldn't tell a diabetic that taking his insulin is a cop-out? You wouldn't tell an alcoholic to not go to rehab? Food addiction is as real as any other disease and waiting till you lose weight the not "quick-n-easy" way could cost you your life. I bet you've been thin all your life though so I understand why you may feel the way you do.

  • I think that a lot of people actually have the procedure done but still cannot stop and end up in the same place, but now with a weakened system from an operation...then what? dealing with the issues the not quick-n-easy way again. the mistake is thinking that gastric bypass will be a simple solution - it should be seen as extra support like the kind one gets at brookhaven, if used at all.

  • i feel so sad for the guy with the girl but at the same time so angry at him. brookhaven is not his answer, even if gets in, after he leaves...he will go back to his old habits. He needs more control in his life and stop thinking that brookhaven is his only option.

  • To me it's kind of the same concept as anorexics or bulimics who need to return to treatment multiple times... clearly, the undelying issues that cause the eating disorder haven't been resolved, and in the meantime symptoms need to be immediately managed lest these people die. So sometimes numerous hospitalizations are actually necessary.

  • true, i hope they are doing ok. Food is one hellava drug...it numbs the pain from a past that is too hard to face or maybe a present situation that is too hard to handle.

  • Exactly. Food addiction is like a drug addiction. I think the average person could understand why someone might relapse a few times before getting their drug addiction under control. But with food addicts, people tend to say "Oh, they're lazy," etc. It's not fair.
