  • That man should be a car salesman :)

  • Oh dear. It's sexy for ladies and the boot is best described as ample. And who cares about the grand-kids, colour or scratches on the back?

... The BMW 3 Series is a driver's car. It has always pretty much come top of it's class. Not best reviewed by pillocks in supermarket car parks, buy a respectable car magazine instead.

  • can u tell me everything u know of a 3 series. i might buy one and i would like to know stuff about them. the pros and cons. mpg, spendy maintenance? long lasting reliability? thank u!

  • @tylercj hey i have an e46 01 325i w/ pretty much every upgrade imaginable haha...if ur thinking of buying on STAY ON THAT TRACK no joke, this is THE best car you can buy without spending a load of money.

Pros: GREAT sound, engine is smooth as silk (its literally like smearing honey into keira nightly driving this thing), the interior is astounding, firm but sporty ride, EXCELLENT handling (b/c its rwd); most cars of this class are not rwd and tend to be soft and understeer

  • @tylercj mpgs: i get 26 city and 32 highway MINIMUM

cons: if somthing goes wrong, maintenance is EXPENSIVE AS HELLL bmw dealers will RIP YOU OFF. luckily i have a friend who is a genius at fixing cars and mends my car for like 50 bucks but dealers will charge u upwards of 200 just for DIAGNOSTICS (plus i do my own spark plug, oil, and simple mainenace things m' self); although its worth mentioning, so long as u take care of it u will NEVER have to fix it, its unbelievably realiable!

  • @tylercj buy it dude! i can personally guarantee you wont regret it!

  • what year is your 3 series?

why has the new 3 series gotten so tight and small? im not a small guy and the new ones suck.

the older models are way more comfortable.

well i have under $10,000 to play with, so i dont know what i can afford under 100,000 miles. ideally, i like cars if there used at around 50-60,000 miles. but then u gotta pay more. right now im driving a 07 honda accord 4 cylinder. i do have some body trunk issues. my trunk is not fully sealed from the outside, which is bad.

  • ....because if the trunk isnt sealed i was told that exhaust can seep into the trunk and cab, which is carbon monoxide.

so im getting that figured out. i did put an alarm in my cab so i feel safer. but besides that, it drives good.

    ya i do love bmw!!!!

  • i am not just saying all of this because i own one, i am saying it because the e46 bmw's were bmw at their very best. i mean you can literally feel the quality in almost everything you touch in that car. the leather is fine, the little compartments all open up smoothly, the buttons click with a satisfying click. i had a bad coil once and had to remove it and EVEN THAT felt quality built. it had weight, and the clip that held it in was smooth and refined. bottom line is this: OLD=GOLD.

  • I have a 2001 (thats what 01 meant in my previous comment). AND WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT BUY THE NEW ONES...okay here is a tip I am going to give you and everyone thinking of buying a new car. Right from around the mid 80's to about 2002, cars were were built to be the best. competition was everything. if you had the best built car, you sold the best. After 9/11 for multiple reasons (economy etc...) car mnaufacturers started cutting corners to make 'good' cars for cheap.

  • Especially european car manufactureers. their reputation was already built, now they were in it for the money. i can almost guarantee that any bmw from 2007 onwards are going to have major problems in the coming decade. OLD IS GOLD WHEN IT COMES TO GERMAN CARS. i completley agree w/ u on the new 3 series. the interior is BORING as hell, the ride is terrible thanks to those STUPID road flat tires. and i didnt quite like the styling as well i think the older ones look much nicer. they have class.

  • i meant run flat** haha sorry

  • thats awesome man!

    i agree too.

i have never owned a bmw, but i have followed them for years, and i think they have greatly compromised on the new 3 series. but the car i am really obsessed with is the x5. what do u think about the x5? yes spendy, ive wanted one for 5-6 years now.

  • hey tyler. i dont know much on the x5, but as for the e46, i've been keeping a close eye on this generation and have read several reviews. consumer reports said that the last year of the e46 (2005) had the best reliability and overalll quality compared to the others. which makes sense because the 2005 model basically built upon all previous models receiving a newer engine, styling features, and packages that were not available for the 1999 e46. so if you had to, go with the 2005 model.

  • ok thanks man.

now im just deciding if i should sell my 07 honda accord with a trunk water leak for a dodge magnum. its not a big leak when it rains, but what if i wanna wash my car in the summer? i dont know if i wanna deal with that for years, even thow its a nice car! i test drove 2 magnums yesterday and they are amazing! my honda is paid off, so if i do decide to sell it, the money would have to go into the magnum. what would you do?

  • well i first wanted the 3 series a while back cause it had so much room. but in recent years ive wanted the x5. so what will people buy, cause the older 3 series will get higher miles and eventually will need to be replaced. why cant bmw just abide by the principle and book of rules. everyone always wants more money. so u say the 2002 bmw 3 series is 1 of the best years for the 3 series??

  • @tylercj yes, all bmw's from around the early 90's to about 2005 were bmw at their absolute best. those were their prime years. i can personally atest to that! earlier cars were also excelent but they're quite old now so i won't comment on them. the x5 is an excellent car! among suv's it is probably one of my top picks! im not an suv guy but if i was the x5 is def one of the best. the only thing i would warn u of however is the mpgs. if mpgs are important to you DONT buy it b/c it really sucks

  • ok thanks. so if you could give me 1 year, what year would u say is the 3 series best year?

  • @tylercj i personally think the 2001 3-series was the best. I think they were a bit more fastiduous w/ the build quality than the later years. reason? well, they re designed it in 1999, and of course w/ every re designe there were flaws. by 2001 the flaws were all ironed out and a finished quality product was produced. after 2001, i think, but im not sure, they started cutting a few corners but not anything big. so yea 2001 id say is the best.

  • thats awesome!

  • eee-bye-gum

  • its more like a chat not a review
