@Arishtat Theoretically ya are right Mate! BUT and BUT again,if ya're so bright then ya also know that basically it's a tree of 15 live, 2 (unspoken) dead languages and the Hungarian is just 1 of the branch's leaves from this huge language tree.I didn't intend to be a wise gal, only don't like to be taken as an outsider from an outsider! Anyway,I haven't the slightest clue what ya intended to say or what was it ya didn't agree with that brought ya to reflect as ya did to my comment. O-Well!
Please, can anyone tell me what this song is called? I can't find the complete soundtrack to 'The English Patient' on iTunes, and really want only this beautiful song anyway. Ms Sebestyén has such a exquisite voice and your language is so very special. Any help much appreciated! Kōszōmōn
It is on iTunes. They have two versions with instrumental, which I didn't like quite as much. Thanks to you giving the title, I found this version under "Love, love -- Szerelem, szerelem" only the artist is labeled "Marty" instead of "Marta" O_o
@thylacine1930 G'day mate ! Greetings from Canada ! If you are still looking for this song on iTunes, there is a version available now: The album is called " Szerelmeslemez - Loverecord " the artist is Marta Sebestyen. There are 12 songs on the album, two versions of this song. Of course, you can buy just this one song from the album as well, it is called " Szerelem, szerelem - Love, love ". Take care.
@thylacine1930, Hi, this song is sung by Márta Sebestyén with the band called Muzsikás, on the album called 'Nem arról hajnallik, amerről hajnallott' (The Prisoner's Song by Eng. title).
László Ede Almásy de Zsadány et Törökszentmiklós (22 August 1895 – 22 March 1951) was a Hungarian aristocrat, motorist, desert researcher, aviator, Scout-leader and soldier who also served as the basis for the protagonist in Michael Ondaatje's 1992 novel The English Patient and the movie based on it.
If you are interested in Marta's Song (by Deep Forest and Marta Sebestyen) in a new, electronic mix with full wording and English translation, please check my channel. Thanks. PEACE!
Hungarian is actually related to Finnish and Estonian and is part of the Finno-Ugric group unlike all other european languages which are of Indo-European descent
@paddywhacky Actually that's not the truth. Sorry. At least according to the present reaserches. It is only a well known theory, but it's not more then a simple theory. It is definately not an Indo-European language. That's true. I would say it is rather related to the Turkish language. As the matter of fact, there is no one who could tell you the truth.
The English Patient is real masterpiece which deserved its Oscars. Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche showed brilliant acting. Other actors were great as well.
Touching, deep, emotional, truthful, beautiful, sad - it's all about this wonderful film
I have heard her 4 the first time in a train on the South of Slovakia. Bunch of loud young drunk teens brought a HUGE ghetoblaster, somebody pressed Play and...Instead latest pop shit, Marta's "Dúdoltam én" album was played. And few others, and lot of Slovak folk muzik as well. I was amazed. They were Slovakian Hungarians, attached to both, Hungarian and Slovak culture equaly. Did not have rest untill I got few Martas albums.
The Hungarian language cannot be compared to any European language ... it is absolutely unique and it's vocabulary is extremely rich. Pretty hard to learn it ... know by experience ... I had to do so in my teens.
Márta (Martha) spent all her life traveling around the countryside's small settlements... learning/collecting old folks songs from elder folks whom still remembered them ... to keep the candle-light on in the Hungarian folks songs.
Yes, i agree : the language is difficult (not Indo-European language) and Marta has an incredible pozitive and strong radiation... she has a kind of power.
Not quite so! Hungarian language is related to finnish and estonian language by being part of ugric language group. Finnland and Estonian are part of Europe.
Finnish and Hungarians dont have same genetical heritage but we do have same language relation by events in history.
I like hungarian language cause it sound as wieard as finnish :)

nem meglepő. eddig is tudtuk hogy a magyar a kevés nyelvek egyike ami ennyire gazdag szókincsű. ja és pl a Micimackó magyar forditása is ezért lett jobb az eredetinél :)
Love, Love (Part 1) Love, love damned misery Why didn't you flourish On the top of every tree? On the top of every tree, On leaf of nut-tree That every girl and boy Should rip off thee Because I also riped And even missed I also riped And still missed
(Part 2) But I would rip again If I have found a good one In case of a good one, a nice one, My old love And for my old lover What wouldnt I do? Water from the sea I would spoon And from the bottom of the sea Little pearls I would collect And for my old lover I would knot a pearl wreath
Better show some respect, or we will send a raiding party , a Hun-Magyar posse up there to jolly good England. This time we will not be stopped at Chalons (451 AD, Attila). Its about time we march through Europe again , and teach tha galls , saxons a lesson or two:-) :-)
I fell in love with the voice of Marta Sebestyen when I heard her voice on a Deep Forest album.
