This look likes as a some song about James Bond's style. he had broked his car, again, he had broken his woman with im, again, he had killed someone, again, for the gool of His Govertment of For The Money. and looked back... on the mess of a blood, people''s death, female's death, saying, taking his finger as small innocent baby of age 2-not more raigher 3: -Ups! I did this again! or as sounds from the stomack from peas: - Upps. and all laughed(German style jokes) So, James Bond had been German.
"The Fox have saw vines grapes, but as they were being higher", he had burned all: - no one will eat as not for me. as I am so small !" The decert had been grow no water, and not plants -- Upps! - he says : - Again! and Peas from his stomack: replied: - Upps! Upps! Upps! And an empty place around. with a boreness till a dieth. and German people laughed - he had ate all peas again! he may be as Shake-S'Pea, but only not Shakespeare! but only not Shakespeare!

Richard Thompson is one of the worlds best kept secrets. A guy who can sing and play geetar. Both to a high standard. In fact better than any of the $hite that passes for music in this day and age
This is one of the most amusing things that I have heard in a while. I am a more recent fan of Richard Thompson, and think that his song Beeswing is one of the best I have heard. The band Mad Dog Mcrea does a great cover of it.
I've been a Richard Thompson fan since the late 60's he's rarley let me down either live or with his recordings as his latest "Dream Attic" shows, and this is him at his best doing what does best. Thanks for the post.
Bizarrely if you listen to the lyrics it does sound a bit like the sort of thing RT would write. Maybe he recognized something of the darkness in the song.
@Yehudittx I was thinking the same thing - I heard a similar treatment of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and whatever you think of Ms Spears' talent, it's apparent that she had some decent material to work with.
Real artists like RT create lasting music out of hard times."Across a Crowded Room" is proof of that.Corporate creations like Brittany Spears just implode when times get the least bit difficult.
I saw1000 years of popular music, though he didnt play this on my one, he played Man Eater by the Pussycat Dolls.
He was properly good, though odviously as the concert was about 2hrs, he didnt have enough time to play every single great record of the 20th century. Because if he did we would have been there all day, which wouldnt necaserily be a bad thing.
no Bowie, or Beatles, on the concert i saw.
But what was really good was he played Solid Air, as this was a week after John Martyns death.
Most early Spears songs were actually written and produced by Linda Perry,a discreet cover for high profile, low talent "artists."She stopped working with Spears because she was just too dense.
Masterpiece? Britney Spears songs are the musical equivalent of a Hostess Twinkie, which is to say they have no real value beyond being mass produced sugary junk. This guy took that Twinkie, sliced it up, added some ice cream a bit of syrup and some strawberries for garnish. It's still a Twinkie, but its got more substance and flavor thanks to RT's performance.
When Britney starts performing arias, we can talk about masterpieces.
You got it anyways. Britney is a puppet. A marketing tool used to make money. Nothing more. The same holds true for singers like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. Notice how Tiffany and Debbie Gibson dropped off the face of the earth?
Here's some REAL musical talent for you.
Miles Davis, U2, the Beatles, Joe Satriani, Andres Segovia, John Williams, The Police, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Brian Setzer, Ray Charles, Nightwish, Pink Floyd, Prince, Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Herbie Hancock
No, that song is called "Two Souls (Angelina). I think it's about Audrey Hepburn's Character in "Breakfast At Tiffany's." Great song, but I'm not sure if he wrote it. The original is hard as Hell to find.
It *is* from 1000 Years of Popular Music, as evidenced by Debra Dobkin's presence on percussion. However, he has been known to do this in his solo shows.
Yes, it's from 1000 Years of Popular Music, the DVD which is unfortunately out of print. Amazon still has the CD sets that were bundled with it, and MP3 downloads from same. This is *not* the best tune on the album (King Henry? Blackleg Miner? hard choices!), or even the best that's a cover of modern rock on it (easy pick: 1985).
@jayrayinnv yes, max martin and rami yacoub wrote oops, but i've road that she has written or produced a substantial portion of her own stuff, and for that i give her credit. i also heard she would have done more but she signed contracts that bound her not to. i'm not a big pop fan believe me, but my daughter likes her :)
It's just a great tune. Give it to any decent singer / player they'd do the same. Credit to the writer as much as (or more than) RT. Britney may well be 'fluff' but don't blame the songwriting!!

Britney never sounded so good!

I think It's amazing how RT can play a bit of fluff and take it beyond irony into something artistically relevant
adjectivesarecool 2 years ago 19
I pretty much hate pop but I think Britney's a pretty darn good songwriter. RT wouldn't be able to do this if it weren't a good solid song.
bluetortilla 1 year ago
@bluetortilla What makes you think Britney wrote this?
jayrayinnv 1 year ago
@jayrayinnv yes, max martin and rami yacoub wrote oops, but i've road that she has written or produced a substantial portion of her own stuff, and for that i give her credit. i also heard she would have done more but she signed contracts that bound her not to. i'm not a big pop fan believe me, but my daughter likes her :)
bluetortilla 1 year ago
@adjectivesarecool No one could make this song artistically relevant.
RT just made it suck less.

It's just a great tune. Give it to any decent singer / player they'd do the same. Credit to the writer as much as (or more than) RT. Britney may well be 'fluff' but don't blame the songwriting!!

@adjectivesarecool I think he was just taking the piss, you've read too much into it
