why does the bcg leave a scar? always wondered that? never had it in school, when i had the skin test my wrist blew up red and angry as hell, turned out i had the bcg as a baby

when me and my friend were waiting in our classroom to get the tester my sis and our friend heard screams and then when we were getting the real thing they heard screams yet again and when my friend was getting it she started singing towards the end and my other friend sayed will we die and the nurse said i hope u dont die then they go like wat do u mean u hope

@CEEVANDBHACHU not anymore so than other vaccinations. it doesn't really have any side-effects either, which some vaccines have.

@CEEVANDBHACHU the test stings a little bit when the needle comes out [theres only one needle in ireland] and it stings a little bit. and when i got my real vaccine it stinged towards the end and and afterwards my friend started singing during it see i got it in school like last week

OMG why are people getting so cross a about a bcg. in some countries you have it as a baby in others you hav it when you are 12 or 13. the government in england stoped paying out for bcg's about 4 years ago when TB was on the increase. the old injection is only 42% affective but the new one is amost 98%.

you can go and have a test at your doctors if u want one done or if you are going into a healthcare profetion you will have to have one as you can carry TB but not get it if you see what i mean.

bloody hell thats not BCG, i had my BCG done yesterday and i was so scared there was 5-7 nurses holding me down and stuff and it was over before i knew it, it took literally 5-7 secs its minor but it does pain quite alot the next day.

Congratulations. It provides immunity from tuberculosis, and is in attenuated form so can't give you the disease. Whats wrong with that?

P.s. if you dont have this vaccine, you have a 1/3 chance of having a latent form of the disease and then a 10% chance of getting the active disease later in life.

I have the biggest fear of needles so bad before i got the bcg i practically had a panic attack! When i got it it didnt hurt at all! Close ur eyes and put ur hand over ur eyes and look straight ahead it'll sting for a few seconds after u get it but u'll be fine!

I do take regulary showers and get the place where i get my BCG wet like i normally take a shower. I have been rubbing my arm against some things time to time, but ive got no signs of a fever or any illness at the moment so i don't know if this crater is normal or not. I have looked at my friends BCG spots when they had it done at the same time and there looks like a perfectly fine scab, but mines a hole in my skin that doesn't look near form a scab, could someone give me some advice?

Ok, i just had this BCG vaccination probably about 3 weeks ago. Its now started to turn into this small crater in my skin and im quite worried its infected? i think people call it a volcano and say its normal that it happens but im not so sure. green puss comes out sometimes and it gets this green crusty layer on top of the crater but that easily slips off if your rubbing against something or taking a shower. ive had this crater for about a week now. If someone could tell me what this is please

The bcg jab hurt like a bitch when I had it. It's the most painful injection I've ever had. That being said, it's only a few seconds long, you just have to get over it really.

That major scar isnt from a smallpox vacc unless hes a complete moron and scratched the fuck out ofit spreading it, You dont actually get smallpox its cowpox which prevents smallpox.

The new vacc isnt done by a needle its done by poking the skin 15 times with a fork looking device that has cowpox on it, which leaves a tiny scar when its done.
