I've never had anyone look at my hair when it was died a blue black and say it wasn't black because the dye wasn't labeled JET black.

Color Oops is supposed to do the job the best and with the least amount of damage, and it comes in conditioning or extra strength. If you wanted to try it , I'd do conditioning. But I'd look up reviews first to see if it'd work for you. That's just what I've personally heard.

I wouldnt recomend stripping your hair, that makes your hair dry out a hell of a lot more, just bleach it with purple or blue bleach powder and 30 peroxide, probably 2-3 times, once every 3-4 days :) and you will have to touch up the roots every month or so for some people for others its every 4 months.

I was just saying how stripping your hair can do more damage than bleaching it an extra one or two times for some people, i bleached my hair for 3 days in a row without stripping it, from dark brown to blonde, i only left the bleach in for 15 mins at a time, and it has turned out white, i mix a little extra peroxide in my bleach powder also. i use salon professionals...

@Kyeanne182 I do have rather resilient hair. its fine wavy hair, I was just always told that stripping was really damaging,. I stripped it twice in 1 day and my hair is as strong as ever. I used pravana, which is a professional brand. I found it to be pretty gentle! Maybe if you ever want to go light again you can consider it. I compared it to before when I was trying to go white and bleached my hair twice (with 30 vol, mind you) in one day then colored it the next and my hair was falling out.

@ThirstyForDesires well, it depends on the volume  higher the volume bleach, less time . lower the volume, more time . i'd say do 10 volume bleach and maybe like 10 or 15 minutes? maybe less, i'm not entirely sure .

@84561237456123 You can bleach your roots, it will sting a bit. BUT the roots change colour really fast, so you should normally bleach all the hair but not the roots, a few inches, and then when you finished do the roots. Otherwise the roots will end up being much lighter

Stripping isn't as damaging.. at all.

wow! It took a long time but great job. What I did was, only half of my hair was black but the other was red, i put in a blonde dye to remove the black dye pigment and then bleached it and it came out perfect even though it was a 30 developer bleach!

Whether dyed or natural, when going from dark to light, there're what's called "color levels". One of those levels is ginger/orange. The lightest level is 10- platinum blonde. Pure black- level 1. In between: dark red, bright orange, neon orange, school buss yellow, big bird yellow, banana yellow, & pale ash blonde. Black/dark hair color molecules have the MOST red molecules in them than all other hair colors. So, whether natural or dyed, hair will always turn "ginger" before going blonde. ^_^
