@TanyaPorterSalon Yep. Some teachers film their fingerboard from behind them looking down.It gives the view you have as a player rather than looking at someone else play. It's so much easier. Good idea about the iphone, much easier than trying to put you laptop upside down (yes I've done that too!!)

This is a nice video for leaning the chords for this song, but the picking/strumming taught here is different -- harder in fact -- than the original recording. If you'd like to learn how Paul McCartney plays, I've posted a short video. Find it a philtangerine blackbird. Otherwise, this is a nice video.

You should feel comfortable with playing basic chords like G, D, E7, C, A7 before attempting this; also, start by learning the pick strum technique. FANTASTIC lesson. I just had one point of confusion. Around 3:50 when you play a G chord and say that we should recognize that one, well I don't and I cant figure out what you are playing there. Thanks!
@eudaemoneac That G is a stripped down version of a G barre chord with a root on the 5th (A) string. It would normally be tabbed as x 10 12 12 12 10, but you're only playing the two strings. He then shows that 5th string barre chords are just taken from the shape of the open A chord.
Good picking but Search "the Beatles blackbird on steroids" if you want to hear a rockin' version of the song. I guarantee you've never heard it like this! The video ain't bad either!

Update: last night I began learning the beginning of this. I have been trying to get that part down before moving on to the next part, and NOW I am able to play it with my eyes closed. I wowed my hubby and 14 year old daughter, and now she wants me to teach it to her lol. I told her to learn it from your videos though. :)

WOW man that was great i finally found a lesson that works for me. Stupid peaple (like me) who have no tallent on the guitar just cant work it out when others say "the picking goes like this" and then do it lightning fast. very good and well explained. nice job singing, very helpful for me to put it all together.
but, i think the Gay Lizard Man dude is technically more accurate with the finger-brush technique... at least how I've seen Paul play it.

thank you, thank you, thank you!! i've always been so intimidated by this song, and i just picked it up in an hour... i NEVER find lessons on here that break down every little part of a song slowly - not even the easy ones! a few days ago my friend asked that i learn to play this, and eventually sing with it. you have made me confident that i can actually do it. Video lessons can be really confusing but this is really helping me a lot! This is my dad's favorite song and he plays it on his guitar all the time. I can't wait for him to come home so I can show him what I've learned today! :)

Update: last night I began learning the beginning of this. I have been trying to get that part down before moving on to the next part, and NOW I am able to play it with my eyes closed. I wowed my hubby and 14 year old daughter, and now she wants me to teach it to her lol. I told her to learn it from your videos though. :)
I need to learn the rest so I can incorporate the singing!

WOW man that was great i finally found a lesson that works for me. Stupid peaple (like me) who have no tallent on the guitar just cant work it out when others say "the picking goes like this" and then do it lightning fast. You explain the left and right hand very simple. I hope your a pro teacher because your a natural. cheers mate

I agree that this is the best lesson on Youtube for this song. Very thorough on both finger styling and chords. However, it is incomplete? Where is the rest of song......
