'A Brit' is just the correct way of saying 'a British person' if you don't want to add the extra noun - just like you would say a Swede instead of 'a Swedish', a Dane instead of 'a Danish' etc.. Paki on the other hand is an offensive racial slur, so the comparison is stupid.
