sometimes people give mainland and hong kong actors/singers vietnamese names to appeal to vietnamese audiences who also follow asian dramas or asian entertainment. yup, pretty weird i know.
Thanks for clarifying that for me behbiichibal! I was scratching my head the whole time. That is funny that they are given Vietnamese names to appeal to Vietnamese people. So does he have Japanese, Korean or Thai equivalent names too? Are they trying to fool the Vietnamese people into thinking that he is Vietnamese or do Vietnamese people know that he's Chinese? I never thought the Vietnamese market was big enough to command that kind of influence in the overall Asian show biz industry.
no, they are not tryin to fool vietnamese ppl haha it's just translation: coz hk ppl can also translate chinese ppl, it's the same meaning , like : huang xiao ming would be: wong siu ming and in vietnamese it's Hoang Tieu Minh , it's the same meaning , we can translate every chinese name (also words) coz china used to rule over vietnam and they also influenced the vietnamese language n culture
@wazupninja i'm vietnamese and we know full well that the actors as chinese, but as you said it's the same name it's just the prununciation changes depending on the language. We might be reading the same words but we'll end up reading it differently depending on our language and then the name is rewritten that way in vietnamese. that's all :)
He's so sweet to his fans. lol at the fan singing next to him...she just kept looking at him near the end of his song.

Can someone clarify something for me? Does this actor also go by the name of "Huynh Hieu Minh"? Why does he also have a Vietnamese name?
