Just found your video. I was told I have IBD a few months ago. I began having flare ups only after going vegetarian, and never with a meat diet. It has been 2.5 years and I have been vegetarian off and on because of it. Every time I go raw or veg, it happens within days or weeks. I have the bloody diarrhea and stomach cramps that last 2 weeks until I go on a beef spree.
Is this normal? From most I read, it happens with stress and people on a standard diet. Any tips, advice?
@AbbyEmigrantLifestyl what's up Abby, that sounds pretty interesting. I don't think I've heard of that yet. But to me it sounds like your body is telling you something. What's your plan of attack? are you thinking you need to pretty much stop the full vegetarian stuff? or do you think it might be certain foods on your vegetarian diet that are the real problems?
@ihaveuc For the new year, I decided to give up vegetarianism and realize, although I agree with the philosophy mentally, I am not willing to ingest prescription drugs. I really am pro-Vegan and Vegetarianism but I pro-Abby more. I've done the elimination of foods as well, and I think it has more to do with vegetables–-raw or cooked. Which was the base of my diet. If I add meat, like before, I will be IBD/UC free.
Great website, BTW... I look at it at night (meal ideas) like food porn:)
@AbbyEmigrantLifestyl keep us posted on how thigns go for you in the new year! I wish you the best of luck with getting it turned around, and it sounds like you've got a good plan. take care, and happy you like the videos!
I have had UC since 1989 (22+ years) and am doing fine. I still have all my own parts. Just make sure you keep taking your meds every day. Good luck, dude.
hey man, im in recovery now just got diagnosed in january. im happy with my progress so far. i am careful with what i eat but everyone is different. what works for u may not work for everyone else, that goes for medications too. right now im on pretizone, asocol, and immuran, and they have worked great so far. i will watch the rest of your videos but the problem with UC is that its not universal, everyone has to adjust to their own condition and find ways to best deal with it.
@salmonfisher2 hey there, sorry for the delayed response, I totally agree with you. everyone is for sure different. I hope things go well for you and you find some long lasting ways to put your UC to sleep. good luck! an sorry again for the delay in getting back to you here on your comment.
Adam congratulations on your recovery, I too have UC. I was diagnosed 5 years ago. From what you said in the video your situation sounds exactly like mine Ive taken almost all the medications that you said or a version of them at least. Ive been looking into the diet side of things recently looking forward to the next video.
