Dear Shri. Mangott, thank you very much! I am indebted to you for uploading the whole 'Raag-mala'. As Yaman Kalyan is known for its purity,sacredness and majesty, Shri Ravishankar and Roerich had perfectly arranged and written the this composition and done a fantastic job. Trumpets, drums and clarinet leaves a unforgettable impression..thanks once again..!

the sitar parts were brilliant. However, the orchestration was kind of boring( I mean all the strings were in unison all the time). Ravi Shankar should have let someone else arranged the orchestral parts

@apdoshi70 Actually, it was written that way intentionally. Because this is primarily Indian music, not "Western" music, it deals with textures and dimensions of sound very different from Western "harmonic foundations". As far as the concentration of the orchestration, Ravi Shankar states "the harmonic and contrapuntal structure will not be...so dense and heavy as to blur or kill the beauty of the ragas."

@mangott what's the point of making fusion if your not going to change anything. Indian classical might actually sound better with some counterpoint in it. Also having such a powerhouse of an orchestra but doing nothing with it is like having a sports car but never driving it over 100km/hr. I am not saying it is bad music, it is great music,but it can be made better by taking the strengths of both the styles of music. ( just my opinion though, I may be wrong)

and he such a great visionary, truly an artist of the world. The Roerich Museum in NY City is such a great place if you ever get a chance to visit, 319 West 107th Street,New York, NY 10025. I must say I also adore the works of Georgia O'Keefe and I agree that some of her shading techniques appear similar but it appears to be a parallel development.
