  • Only time will see emergency heat if switch from "heat" mode to emergency. If you bump the temp up high or system falls behind the Aux will show on the screen.

  • @jay11j Ok i just tried Em. Heat and it wasent blowing hot air. its 41F out this morning.

  • @xctome Ok, then we now know it's not the stat. The Tech needs to put the meter on the wire that is tied to Aux/E from the t-stat.

  • @jay11j yes. the stat calls for EM. heat but no hot air blows. the tech thinks its the stat wireing under the house, or the heat strips arent wired rite.

  • @xctome Ok, now we saved him one thing to mess with. (the stat) just needs to check the wires then. Can tell him you fixed the stat since it was not set up right!

  • @jay11j yes i will tell him i fixed the stat. he thinks there's a wire loose or broken under the house since my cat used to go mouse hunting under there, he will hopefully come today. cause now the heat pump is low on R22 again! its not blowing warm!

  • Did you not set the stat program for the Aux heat?? I told you that is your problem.

  • @jay11j tech looked @ stat and said it did not have a AUX setting. he said on a heat pump the AUX is suppose to run non stop when the HP is running in heat mode.

  • @xctome Did he or you go into the set up menu like you and I talked about?? The Aux DOES NOT run all the time, Just when the t-stat calls for Aux or Emg heat, and when the unit outside goes into defrost!

  • @jay11j no he just pulled the face plate off and looked at it. i asked him if the aux did or dident run all the time, and he said its suppose to be wired to run when the unit is on to help it heat faster? i plan on getting the Honeywell PRO 3000 witch has a AUX setting. so our tech is wrong?

  • @xctome Yes, he is wrong, IF you ran the Aux all the time, your mom is going to go broke paying the high price electric heat strip.

You go into the set up menu like I told you before, and I bet when you set the stat to HP mode, the Aux will work! e-mail me if you rather do that than here.

  • @jay11j Ok. i will ask the tech to do that IF the tstat isent bad like he expects. he will b here 2morrow when its not raining lol

  • @xctome Why don't you go in there and set it up! Save the guy a trip, and a lesson to learn to check things before goes though all the other mess for nothing.

  • @jay11j just looked thru the tstat settings and there is no AUX or Em.Heat setting, all there is is Cool Off Heat. no AUX or emergency heat. i think we may have the wrong thermostat?

  • @xctome you are in the wrong area. You need to go into the "System Set Up" menu of the t-stat.

The install manual page 13 is where it shows how to get in it.

#170 needs to be set to 7 (HP w/ Aux Heat)

  • @jay11j Ok i will do that in da morning when mum is asleep.

  • @xctome Why not now?

  • @jay11j just set it up! it is 65F outside rite now so in da morning when its in da 20's or 30's i will test to see if Em heat works or not. or when its below 32F outside. thank you for sending me the link!
