  • He didn't leave the G-men, They didn't want to resign him because his previous injuries and his contract was up. The biggest mistake the Org. ever made next to letting Willie go to the Mets in '69. They let the heart and soul go twice! This has been a curse until tonight! Way to go Giants! I have waited all of my life for this moment and I am turning 50 soon. Thanks for the memories and a kick ass playoff to win it all...

  • i'll never understand why Will left the team after they won 103 game

try wrapping your head around that one.

  • How sad is it that a franchise can only celebrate playoff losses...Giants suck.

  • @fukufools Pissed off Raiders fan? How are the A's doing, or the Warriors?

  • Will Clark was awesome...the 1987 NLCS was the Dennis Leonard series, even though the Giants lost

  • One of my favorite Sports Illustrated covers featured Clark and Mark McGwire (when he was with the A's), and the cover said 'Double Trouble'. This was from the SI's 1988 baseball preview, and MLB pitchers had to fear either Clark at the 'Stick or Mac at the Coliseum. I never was a fan of the Bash Brothers, but Mark McGwire was the greatest A's player ever, and Clark was the heart and soul of the '87 team. If SF faced the Twins in the World Series, then there would be a '87 pennant at AT&T Park.

  • If Will Clark wanted to play for 5 more years to collect 3000 hits and get into the HOF, he could have. But family was more important to him than the HOF, so he retired Respect.

HOF of Not, when putting together an all-century team, if you want to win, you want Will Clark on your team.

  • Damn Right!! And for those who think that's BS. Clark left at the height of his return to the NL. In 51 games with the Cards he hit .345 with 12 HRs, 42 RBIs, 15 2Bs, and a .655 SLG%!!! In addition to 2HRs and %RBIs in the post-season. I was SO dissappointed to see him not return to see what he could have done. HE WAS BACK!!! Just like the SF days!!

Still put up MORE than respectable #s. Wish the Hall would take his knowledge and intensity for the game into consideration instead of just #s.

  • correction: % = 5 (RBIs in postseason)

  • I still can't believe the disrespect for Will Clark by the Hall of Fame committee. Maybe he didn't quite have the numbers for Hall of Fame status but to not even receive the 5% vote to be on future ballots?

  • will clark now coaches a local team in my league, we played them last night and he was the 1st basemans coach

  • wil clark is my hero!!!! and guess what he never used steroids....truly a players player

  • Clark = Legend.

I bet Will can still go yard. Probably the best Giant (in his day) to dawn Orange and Black since the Say Hey Kid.

Long live Will "The Thrill" Clark!!!

  • i met him

  • oh ya i went to this reunion but missed the beggining. it was also sold out. but i watched the whole game at the back for free at the arcade. thanks for sharing this

  • i remember when bonds signed with sf i was so happy to have bonds and clark. then clark left right after.

i also remember every time clark came to play in sf he was always missing. i think he might of been embarrased. this happened allll the time too. still love him tho.

  • remember when 35 home runs was a big deal? wow. clark was a gamer...and coming from an insane mattingly fan, that's high praise.

  • Will clark was the man....HATED Barry Bonds for taking steroids.. his 1989 NLCS is unmatched...Mark Grace right behind him. though ...LOVE WILL CLARK...........

  • Damn right bro! The THRILL!!! .650 avg. (13 for 20) Hit for the cylce in the 5 game series w/ 3 doubles, 1 triple, and

2 HRs including a grand slam that left the park in Wrigley, 8 runs, 8RBIs, 6 in Game 1 alone!

totalled a 1.200 Slg% in the series. No wonder how he basically single handedly defeated the Cubs in the NLCS.

    the FUCKIN' THRILL INDEED!!!!!

  • Yeah 35 roundtrippers in 87' (the Year of the homerun) back then. Ain't shit compared to today though! LOL!

Then again, neither is the steroid/enhancement usage.

Alot of people don't realize it...but Clark has better numbers (all around) than Mattingly.

Though Donny set a helluva lot more records.

    BOTH kick ass!!!

  • don had about 5 monster years and then spent the rest hobbled by back problems. still a borderline HOF. also, i've never seen a better defensive 1B than mattingly.

  • Yeah...the same as Clark. He was plauged by elbow problems (bone chips) after his 1st season when he broke it. Just imagine what could have been. Clark was no slouch defensively either. After 15 seasons at 1B he had a .992 fielding %. Unfortunately I don't think we'll see either in the Hall for a while, if ever.

  • Named my first son after him, Clark.

  • that's AWESOME!!!

  • THE THRILL WAT A SWING SUCH A NATURAL First at bat in the BIGS against NOLAN RYAN Took him deep!!!!!! SF GIANT FAN NO MATTER WHAT!! TILL I DIE!!! DUSTY BAKER IS WEAK AS HELL HOW COULD HE START LIVAN HERNENDEZ IN GM7 RUINED MY WORLD SERIES HOPES CUBS FOUND THAT OUT STUPID GAME DAY MANAGER

  • I went out with him a couple of times. :) True...

  • the reason why I love the old giants even though they loss many times. Will Clark

  • amen long live THE THRILL my idol through little league and high school ball even taught myself to bat lefty in his stance

  • Will is my favorite player of all time and will always be my favorite. A San Francisco Giant for life!!!
