Great vid, well done, it looks seriously tough. I'm hoping to manage this in April using 34x26 gear as part of the Lakeland Loop. I remember watching the Prutour of Britain in 1998 going up Rosedale Chimney in the North York Moors. It also has a 33% section and some pros even got off and pushed their bike.
Just done this today, both sides, together with Wrynose Pass. Didn't have time to put my compact on so road it with a 39 on the front.
Half the battle is just staying up right, keeping cool, especially when cars are in front or behind you. The problem I had was that the road was pretty wet, so sometimes I'd lose traction when standing, and then the front wheel would come of the ground when sitting. Could have done with a granny gear really.
recently rode from Youth hostel at boot to kirkstone pass inn.Never experienced roads like that before the greastest 17 miles ever! impossibly hard but well worth it.
Although video and stills cameras never seem to be able to convey the true gradient, I can tell that this is seriously hard! I find Winnats Pass bad enough, and this looks steeper in places and a lot longer too.
About 4 years ago I did Hardknot and Wrynose back to back. Made it as well, mind you it almost gave me a chuffing hernia! As I was sitting at the top of Hardnose, a guy came racing up at a speed I couldnt believe. As he got up to where I was sitting, I recognised him as a pro. He said he was out for a traning ride. This guy was awesome!
It sounds like your riding a Penny Farthing. Well done

Did it myself from the other side starting from Windermere - certainly the toughest I've done. Gotta try it from that side!
