To those commenters who say that Gail should get a job, you didn't listen to the video very well. Both Gail and her husband work. As to why she doesn't have insurance, maybe her company doesn't offer it, or maybe she had it and they took it away after she got sick, or maybe she's self employed and premiums are so high she can't afford it. There are lots of reasons a person could be uninsured that have nothing to do with whether or not they work.
My question is why didn't they have health insurance? And the mandate that says you can not be denied insurance because of preexisting conditions will now allow people to not buy insurance until they get sick. It is sort of a catch 22. I hope and pray this women gets well. I don't think Obamacare is the answer to our high cost high premium problem and I think it will raise cost and lessen quality care for many.

Even MORE difficult. I NEVER thought I would have ANY semblance of a life back-nevermind an opportunity to work remotely & get INSURANCE!! For the past 6 years now, I have been receiving a "base" of less than $690/month in disability (amt now-not adjusted for the occasional freelance work I do-although most is volunteer). Unfortunately, the more I make-the more they cut my benefits. (ie: pay=$120/mo, DA=$550/mo)

12 years ago this summer; I was enjoying my 25 years as a health care professional. My husband and I were living very comfortably; having a combined income of over 300K; owning 2 homes; having healthy & happy children; being involved in church & many different volunteer programs. To those commenters who say that Gail should get a job, you didn't listen to the video very well. Both Gail and her husband work. As to why she doesn't have insurance, maybe her company doesn't offer it, or maybe she had it and they took it away after she got sick, or maybe she's self employed and premiums are so high she can't afford it. There are lots of reasons a person could be uninsured that have nothing to do with whether or not they work.

My question is why didn't they have health insurance? And the mandate that says you can not be denied insurance because of preexisting conditions will now allow people to not buy insurance until they get sick. It is sort of a catch 22. I hope and pray this women gets well. I don't think Obamacare is the answer to our high cost high premium problem and I think it will raise cost and lessen quality care for many.

There's no "betterment" to humanity when those with means are constantly plagued by lazy entitlement whores to give away more free hand-outs when TRUE betterment can be achieved by putting those moneys and assets into scientific and technological development, such as alternative fuels -O that's right! @QuartuvLarry The largest expense that any Small Busi., or Big has had over the past 30yrs. has been Health Ins. for Their employees. It's the Health Insurance agency's that has made Our jobs become outsourced. You see, the Pres. did Our country a huge favor with the HCare Bill. -O- sure, it's not all that impressive. YET! It does set the tone proper for the Country though, and soon enough it will lead to a Single Payer System.

You know what that means, don't you? Employers will not have to worry about the cost of Ins.anymore for the employee because it's no longer Their problem, dumpling. It will be in the Hands of the American People, which is where it should be. That's exactly why BIG CORP's send Our jobs to Communist countries to begin with. Well, that and the fact that they are greedy. They do not have to provide Health Ins. for the workers in Communist states.
