  • Most of all the fruit juices even the green smoothies some companies are putting on the market are primarily FRUIT the level of greens to fruit in most of those drinks is non-existent. Remember look at the label the lower the item is on the ingredient list the less of it is in the actual product. Remember as well by law they have to pasteurize everything for market and for increased shelf life can you say lost Nutrients.

Really buy a half decent blender and make your own!

  • For all of those people worried about sugars in their green smoothies do not buy store bought junk make your own. Remember this simple guideline use 2-3 times more of your green produce compared to your fruits slowly reduce fruits all together.

Remember green smoothies in stores are processed, pasteurized, and made with fruit concentrates unless it says not from concentrate.

The Vitamix being used here is primary equipment in Restaurants ETC. great quality costs we all know this.

  • I like your ringtone :3 oh and ty for sharing!

  • I just started making green smoothies, hoping to lose some weight and begin a healthy lifestyle. I'm just worried about the sugar content from all of the fruit. Does anyone have some advice or experience with this that they can share?

    Hi there,

I'm very sensitive to sugar and the fruit in the smoothies has never been an issue for me. I even just had a blood test specific to my sugar intake and with all the fruit I eat (and greens) I had perfect results.

In my readings, experience and guidance from other smoothie drinkers I've come to believe that the greens balance out any sweet fruit issues.

I rarely use bananas anymore, and I do use lots of less sweet fruits like citrus and berries.

    Have Fun!

  • yeah i recall the Odwalla drinks have high sugar in the drinks, 27 grams maybe? Do you suppose tht is natural sugar or added by coca cola? Thanks RJ.

  • @bonabrown

    Thanks for the note.

I'm really not sure where the sugar comes from but once the whole blend has been heated up in the pasteurization process it has lost all of the life giving enzymes that I drink green smoothies for. So you end up getting a bunch of sugar. They taste good but they sure don't give me the amazing feeling that my live green smoothies do.
