I love this show! However, I always thought it was odd when I would see Rosanne or Jackie wearing pretty expensive clothes for people of limited income. The plaid shirt Rosanne wears in this opening scene is by GOUCH. I had the exact same shirt. In other episodes, Rosanne & Jackie can be seen wearing KIKIT brand clothing. A KIKIT blouse costs approx. $100.00. I used to sell these same brands in a women's specialty boutique back in the day.

So what exactly happened

David + Darlene dated for awhile, then they got caught having sex or they had sex, darlene gets pregnant, darlene's father is pissed throughout it all, roseanne finds out but keeps it a secret, darlene trys to allow them to have david move in. But darlene's father wont allow it. David stays with jackie.

I have to agree about comparing the Cosbys and the Connors. The Cosbys were a professional African-American family, he a doctor and she a lawyer. Quite different from how African-Americans were being portrayed at the time on TV and with a different perspective. The Connors were about a working-class family with quite different, but frankly more real problems. I thought Roseanne was a better show with better writing at least until the last season after they won the lotto.

Arnie (messed up his name, sorry) was supposed to get married to Nancy and...I think they did get married but then when he's abducted Nancy comes out as a lesbian and after he comes back to Earth (but it's more of a joke..considering nobody believes he was abducted and thinks he just ditched Nancy)Nancy refuses to see him. Arnie's actor was actually Roseanne's husband in real life, although it didn't last very long.

Actually, Dan never cheated on Roseanne...She made all the stuff up after he had the heart attack...He actually died, but she was hurt so bad that she made up the cheating, lotto win, etc...Darlene was actually with Mark, David was with Becky, Roseanne's mom wasn't gay, Jackie was...So it was all revealed in the finale as a type of memoir...

I kind of hated that reveal. It made sense as far as explaining the last season, but it left me feeling kind of cheated--especially the whole Darlene being with Mark part. It made sense for Darlene to be with someone like David, who she could basically control (a characteristic she obviously got from her mother). For me their relationship was one of the highlights of the show. To say it never existed was kind of heartbreaking.

The Cosby Show was popular but didnt deal with real issues, that show was a show about a rich black family who dealt with somewhat normal issues, Roseanne is about middle class life and how life REALLY is, I love this show and always will
