  • How is he doing now? I wish the best for him!

  • @gurliehmggurl He is doing great. He is 5 now and will be starting kindergarten next year! Right now, his seizures are under control. He is still mostly non-verbal, but starting to follow simple commands. He's way behind, but progress is progress! I'll take it!

  • People don't always lose conciousness. My husband only has these types of seizures, and he NEVER loses conciousness. His pupils dialate, sometimes he has some jerking movements, his personality changes, he sweats profusely, blinks continuously, and often moans a lot. My husband also has status epilepticus, so his seizures do not stop without medication intervention. Never assume that all seizures are the same!

  • @Ginyurei Thank you so much for your kindness...I hate it when people tell me what my kid is NOT having after it's been diagnosed by a top nuerologist and multiple EEGs at the top hospitals...so thank you!

  • <3 to your son and your family. I'm sorry you have to deal with various "internet people" who question your statements like you don't know what you or your doctors are talking about. (isn't it wonderful to have random medical professionals on the internet correcting you simply by looking at a video and consulting wikipedia?! lolz)

Thank you for posting this video and I wish nothing but a wonderful life for your little man!

  • stay brave you handsome boy

  • prayerz for u joe

    hang in there

    i have epilepsy and autism

  • Thanks Shannon! He is a sweetheart!

  • @bairdfamily5 your welcome

  • what a cutie

  • hmm.. complex partial seizures cause loss of consciousness by definition.

  • @dantizzle Right...and it can manifest itself in many ways. Some people continue on with certain hand motions, rapid eye blinking, lip smacking....Sometimes he just stares. He has since moved on to generalized seizures that are affecting his entire brain. The complex partials were only affecting one area. He would throw his hands up and vocalize, but would not be totally "there." I'm not sure if he even hears me during.

  • @bairdfamily5 right, i dont know his official diagnosis. i was just thinking maybe this particular episode was a simple partial rather than complex partial seizure since he seemed to be conscious the entire time. all the best.

  • @dantizzle It's also possible to "seem" conscious and yet be unconscious. My CPS are like that. My eyes are open, I continue to do what I was doing before my seizure and I can even respond to people but I am "blacked out" completely unaware of what I'm doing and what's going on. I walked three blocks once while "blacked out" during a seizure.

@bairdfamily5 How are his generalized seizures affecting him and how is he doing now? I hope for the best for him!

  • When you say the tumors "cause autism" or autistic behaviours, what part of the body or brain (left/right) is affected by the growths?

  • @IrishAspie He has tumors or tubers all throughout his brain caused by the TSC, so they basically interfere with brain activity resulting in epilepsy, autistic-like behaviors (PDD-NOS which is autism non specified) and mental retardation or significant developmental delay. They are basically little calcifications that block the the firing from one nueron to another. Does that answer your question?

  • where was the seizure?

  • The blinking of the eyes and the arms going up at one point and the vocalizations. I think he feels them. He often rubs his head before and after. They are often so hard to spot. He sometimes only blinks or has a few seconds where he just goes into outerspace/blank.

  • My daughter has TC as well and suffers from partial seizures. My heart goes out to you and your beautiful son.

  • what a beautiful little boy. best wishes for him in the future.

    xo

  • My son was just diagnosed with complex partial seziure of the left side of his brain w/ an veeg this week. We has other types but these were diffent and they had to do the veeg to find out. He also has TSC diagnosed at birth. Good luck to you and your son he is presious.
