I understand what you mean. The original Underworld Sonja had blonde hair which definitely didn't work for her character. But I'm sure that's something they just didn't prepare for. I don't think they expected this series to be as successful as it has been or were planning to make the prequel about Lucian and Sonja while producing the first movie. Otherwise, I'm sure they would have tried to use the same actresses. Nonetheless, it all still ties together very well. :)

Sonja was not in the first movie and kate beckinsale cost more than rhona mitra so that aint no argument....The first movie only had Selene....so did the second. The third, didnt have Selene because she hadnt been born(its a prequel to the other 2 even though it came out latest, sort of like Xmen Origins: Wolverine), instead, it was during the time when Sonja was still alive.After this movie, the story goes back to Underworld 1. It even ends with Selene's monologue at the beginning of da 1st.
