  • Wow, I did not know this kind of video here exists. I'm Type 4! Greetings from the Philippines. Can you recommend sites that have discussions about this type exclusively?

  • I would recommend to the four type, is to become very aware of their victim mentality. Victim mentality can always make the four, prove themselves "right" in their view that both the outside world and their inner world are against them or creating a lack in them or persecuting them, which justifies their behavior in an unending loop, as well as take away their responsibility to be objective and see that it is actually, their perspective that is the CAUSE of the pain

  • My mother was an unhealthy type 4. words to describe her would be CHAOS, DRAMA, self absorption, persecution complex, inconstant. Any kind of "order" made here extremely uncomfortable and she would sabotage any stable solutions, as if stability took away from her "uniqueness". She resented her children for "cramping her lifestyle". She changed moment to moment seeking "understanding" from others and then would rebel against it to ensure "uniqueness." I gave up. Misery = happiness for her.

  • Has anybody ever tried synthesising the enneagram with, say, chemical elements and the way they react? I recall Carl Jung's comment about people meeting and having sort of chemical reactions and am interested enormously in how people with different enneagram types react when encountering each other.

  • woman next to the host seem to be 4. The other woman seem 1ish. Not sure about a man.

  • Interesting Video. Glad to see how much I have evolved as a 4 and am no longer driven by the unhealthy needs of the 4, and let things just be as they are, and let me be as I am. Woo Hoo

  • I wish I could contribute a profound insight to this wonderful conversation, but find myself falling short. ;)

  • as a type 4, finding and maintaining the present and reality as much as possible is key. i found it very difficult to do this because i was so used to the feeling of hurt and the plays i would present in my head... but the more i wanted to be healthy, the more i found myself changing my thought process almost each time and as soon as that negative or fantasy-like thought came into my head. i had to decide: " well do i want to keep being miserable or do i want to be happy?" i wanted to be happy

  • :-) not as lonely and not as special as we tell ourselves all the time. My take away is to enjoy something, a piece of art or a piece of life and also to stop scratching myself for more emotions, more meaning. To think less and less and to be more and more. An on going process, a journey... very difficult and the only way out for us.

  • @09kaustubh You hit the nail in the head. You are a healthy four being able to express something so true and profound.

  • Type 4 - Not being grounded and unhappy cuz of it. Seeking to escape the mundane. Bored easily. Not knowing yourself. Unable to be spontaneous due to lack of clear identity. Unable to relate to contentment. Overtly cognitive. Extremely emotional. Disharmony. Hates small talk. Like stuff that others dont really. Strong sense of aesthetic. Pretension. Hateful of people. Shame. Catering for others behaviours. Misaligned. Seeking intimacy and meaning. I could go on...

  • @stellarshore cool! do go on..... are these your own phrasings or are they based on something specific? your summary is really good.

  • @PersephoneSwimming These are are simply me. I dont think we have a clear character, perhaps we should be designated with a letter as opposed to a number. We recognize chaos more than any of the other type and we dont see "work" and "duty" as a way to deal with it. We seek beauty to deal with it instead as work and duty is servile, cretinous and ungracious. Beauty is very true, its immediate and makes us feel alive, something that most people, most work, most anything cant do.

  • @stellarshore thank you. very interesting. i've read a lot about type 4, i think your interpretation is uniquely insightful.....

  • @stellarshore your mixing a number of types, and eveyone has parts of all types, but your not describing 4's as a type well

  • not easy with others easy overstulated, easy hurt.very very happy in the next moment.i can relate at everything everyone says on here.good in one way and bad in another.

  • Being a four is a gift and a curse (I'm usually a 3, 4 or 5)

  • This froze on me. I know they did it on purpose. Why ME?! I'm such a four.

  • Hmmmm, i'm in the process of trying to work out whether i'm a 4 or 9 but the more i focus on my motivations the more i find myself becoming a 4. It's wierd.

  • 1, 1, 7

  • @Narc900 Are you saying that those people are not 4s but that the two women are type one and that the man is type 7?

  • Excellent discussion, thank you for sharing this :)

  • It felt like being with family watching this as a 4 myself. Very good video, thank you.
