@Cheatdragon Getting through the 30 star door with a backwards longjump is possible on a controller with some practice. But to go through the Dire Dire Docks entrance, to go to Bowser 2 at once, is much much harder. People have managed to do it however.

But yeah, in theory, this is possible with a normal controller.

No cheat codes or anything are used in the making, the game and how it works is the exact same as on console. Only difference is that you record the game in slow motion (Frame Advance) using save states and rerecording.

I dont get the meaning of ''tas''. I know that it emans tool assisted run, but i dont get what kind of tools does it use. Is a speedrun a tas for example if you make a script that makes you automaticly keep hiting a button when you just simply hold it down?

@xXFriendlycreeperXx You are playing on an emulator to slow down the game as much as possible.

For each frame the game accept input, you choose what input to make.

During the making you are constantly using save states. As soon as you make a mistake, want to try something else etc. you load a save state. Slow motion and save states are the two main tools used when TASing.

There are tools within the emulator for turbo functions as you mentioned as well, yes.

@dennishenk When doing the backwards jumping glitch, the speed increasing is depend on how many times you press the A button to jump. Normally you can only press A every second frame, as you have to release the button in order to press it again. And during that frame you release A, Mario will move forward as he has such high speed

But by bringing up the start menu, you can release the A button at the same time, and Mario won't be moving, and then you can press A again directly afterwards.

@dennishenk a blj with pauses get's twice as many "yahoo's". you can tap A for 1 frame, let go of A form one frame, and so forth. with pausing, you're actually able to press A and letting go of it ON EVERY FRAME. Mario will gain twice the speed.
