Usually I don't pay much attention to how an actor looks in a movie. But, when I first saw him in the trailer, I was like OMG...this guy is F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G H-O-T...I gotta watch this movie...haha...What a handsome man.
Excellent performance but a reformist way of looking at solving class problems. Happy ending for the romantics but an illusion, a fiction. If the mill-owner, who has to be a handsome man in trouble, so he could evoke all the girls romantic/maternal sympathies, was to concede even the slightest of concessions to the workers, he would lose his competitveness and lose out to other producers. So either he is a soft-hearted fool (rare among the capitalists), or the whole story is complete tosh.
I thank for putting this online. I watched all the episodes in one evening. It's now 1 am here, but it was worth it. I did know the story before nore the author. Just heard a title and a name. Amazing and great acting. I liked Nicholas very much.
i'm amazed by how he can have so much love in his eyes in this scene, brilliant actor! anyone would melt for that kind of look... adorable scene anyway:)
I have discovered that I can quote this whole scene from the time the train pulls into the station. *Sigh* I've seen so many times...
Also, I love how he's looking at her with complete and obvious adoration, and then she mentions him using her money to run the mill and suddenly he's got this tinge of amusement, like, "She's so cute when she talks about business things." Not condescending, just... awww...
I just love it that no explanations are needed at the end...their time had come...marvelous actors....how she tried to tame down her expression after seeing him....but he did no such thing....finally !!!....
lovely stuff 4 hopeless romantics like me ...though my love is bit like him in looks....but after ten years and two kids the only looks I get are full of exasperation!!!! oh thank god for youtube/internet+ movies like these....and u who uploaded....love u 2 :)
Yes I agree with you the 1999 Mansfield Park version is best even I haven't seen Billie piper version yet. But towards the rate from IMDb i downloaded those most ratet hihi I haven't seen Wives & daughter yet, but will haha the rest I will download now hihi Yes I have been cry enough "One Day" modern but still British based from a book.
Gosh I have been looking for drama as Pride and Prejudice and now finally !!! Is there any similar romantic period drama like this to recommended ?Thanks a lot!!!
@mychemfreak246 How great , thanks a lot! Any more you have ? Hihi I am such greedy can't stop watching this ending and pride and prejudice haha Richard Armitage is sooooo handsome gosh wish someone look at me like him and Matthew Macfadyen: i love love... hahaha I have been searching for all Jane Austen films. Men back then dress so nice...ahh dreaming :)
@Seahorse727 Lol sure, I got loads: Downton Abbey, Mansfield Park (1999 version is best in my opinion but 2007 with Billie Piper is ok). Wives & Daughters (written by same author of North & South), Tess of the d'Urbervilles (the film and BBC version are both good. Very tragic love story, be prepared to cry), Northanger Abbey (ITV mini-series. Henry Tilney is adorable!), Jane Eyre (2006 mini-series), Lost in Austen (good modern twist with Pride and Prejudice)...
@Seahorse727 Phantom of the Opera (a musical but also a beautifully sad love story), The Painted Veil (film SLIGHTLY similar to Love in the Time of Cholera), Much Ado About Nothing (romantic comedy by Shakespeare.), Wuthering Heights (Rivals tess of the d'urbervilles in tragic love stories). Check out BBC's Merlin too if you're not already watching it. More fantasy than romantic period drama but still worth watching. These should occupy you for a while lol Enjoy :~)
@mychemfreak246 I've also watched Phantom of the Opera all versions hihi I think we do have same taste of movies haha Thanks a lot MYCHEMFREAK246 I am a movie freak too, have seen most of what you just mentioned on 2nd post ...except Merlin hihi
@Seahorse727 Lol well it's based on the Authurian legend so if you like the whole Arthur and Guinevere love story thing you should enjoy Merlin. Hmm, if you've seen Phantom of the Opera then try Cranford (also by same author of N&S). And Return to Cranford and Upstairs Downstairs. Quite a few series for all of them, should keep you occupied for a week or so XD That's all that I can think of the top of my head right now. Have fun :)
@Seahorse727 said: "Is there any similar romantic period drama like this to recommended ?"
Yes, I recommend Wives and Daughters. Emma (either the Gwynneth Paltrow or Romula Garai version. Both are enjoyable, although the Gwynneth version has the delectable Jeremy Northam as Knightley, very much a bonus!) Sense and Sensibility, either the Emma Thompson, 1995,version or the more recent 2008, one with the loverly Dan Stevens as Edward Ferrars. Anything adapted by Andrew Davies.
I LOVE this movie, this is my second time watching it... I just love the old English period films... I mean, back when ladies behaved like ladies and men knew how to speak to a woman. I wish it was still the same. This movie reminds me of P & P (Pride & Prejudice), my most favorite movie ever! There are so many recurring themes and parallels to be drawn between the two movies. All who give a thumbs up to this movie should check out P&P (the modern version with Keira Knightley).
Gah! The way he looks at her makes me weak in the knees. Especially when he sees her when he's getting off the train. I could, and DO, watch this every day and never get tired of it. Love me some RA!!!
Oh Richard, I'd love to come home with you... He'd be an amazing Darcy or Rochester! More Richard Armitage!!!!! I'm an American so I can't see all the British tv stuff he's in! :'(
@superchubbles Definitely would love to see him in those roles! He'd make a perfect Darcy + Rochester.. I'm even going to watch The Hobbit when it comes out just to get more of him haha! <3
just finished reading the novel and just HAD to rewatch the ending (even though it's different in the book)! one of the most marvellous and beautiful romantic conclusions out there :)
LOVE this!!! Thanks so much for uploading! It's soooo romantic i love it! And I love how Richard just gazes at her like that it's so adorable. And how she can hardly look at him and speak at the same time LOL It's just all so romantic :)))))))) <3
Of course R. Armitage is handsome, but there's more to him than that, don't you think ? He is an excellent actor, able to show such a large range of feelings , from anger to deep love !
There is so much to love about Richard Armitage in these scenes The way he is looking at her, all of his defenses down and his love shining in is face. And how she is almost crying she is so full of feeling for him when he gets off the train... well done, so well done. And the music is so sweet and so perfectly timed with what is happening on-screen. I could watch this episode every day and never get tired of it!
I thought that male actors capable of projecting that level of romantic love had vanished from the surface of the planet. How nice to be wrong. Fly high is correct., however, kissing in public would have been viewed with horror. But modern audiences would not understand the absence of kissing, so directors compromise..
@FlyHighFlyBC That's true, but Margaret did a LOT of things that gentlefolk wouldn't have done at the time, including throwing her arms around Thornton to protect him from the angry mob. That scene (the protecting) was in the book as well. Anyway, even if the kisses weren't appropriate, surely you don't wish they weren't there. They're the gentlest, sweetest kisses I've ever seen on film!
Those kisses were so gentle and sweettt.......
Usually I don't pay much attention to how an actor looks in a movie. But, when I first saw him in the trailer, I was like OMG...this guy is F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G H-O-T...I gotta watch this movie...haha...What a handsome man.
