HD DVD WAS SO MUCH BETTER, SUCKS i loved when you put in the movie it started no previews or menus, the interactive menus were amazing which blur ay actually stole after hd dvd went under which is completely gay on sony's part

I have the Toshiba XE-1 and Blu Ray on PS3. Had i not bought a PS3, i would not have bothered buying a Blu Ray player. The XE-1s DVD upscaling is incredible

I love both formats that's why I own both, they continuously WOW me. The only diff I see in any format is when it comes down to my cable HDTV, the BD & HDDVD have a better pic than HDTV cable But I love them all I'm still snatching up HD DVD titles. In a few years B-Ray will be knocked off and we will flock to the new leding format .I really don't care as long as I can get my HI DEFINITION ON!

HD-DVD was dumb because it had more limitations, it had that lame HD-DVD/DVD combo crap on some of the releases on the same disc. and i could say more but i just wanted to mention some of its flaws. It was just an overall lame idea and even the companies that make the movies even realized that

Blu-ray had lossless audio on almost all releases and how many did HD-DVD have with lossless audio? not very many. Blu-ray can go up to 50GB of data HD-DVD 30GB at best. Which means more room for better picture quality, sound quality, and even enough space to have extras in HD without cutting the quality for the movie

i do not really know what you are getting at with the specs stuff even though hddvd had 15 gb that is still 8 hrs. of high def vid and audio...

toshiba came out with the 1.3 hdmi cable that had deep color support. then blu ray copied them.

toshiba came out with 1080p/24 fps first then blu ray copied them again..

toshiba came out with the hd xa2 (i have one LOL) with a silicon processor chip and again months later blu ray copied them...there is a couple more things that they came out with first

Simple sony paid warner bros. 400 million to go to bluray only.....so without support neither one can stand right????... besides there is more hd dvd players in amerian homes than bluray players...(look it up) when i made my mind up as to which one to buy...i looked at both equally..hd dvd simply looked better....i have both a bluray and a hddvd player on the same lcd screen..hd dvd looks better and sounds better as well

truthfully they are the same..both use the blue violet ray (hence the name blu-ray)which has a shorter wave length than the red laser used by regular dvd and cd players..sony rather blu ray won because (sony) paid warner bros. 400 million (no it's not a typo) to go bluray exclusive.and also made a deal with toshiba that if they will pull the plug.,that they would give them 60% of their cell processing plants LOL!

Well im not upset about the hd-dvd losing.i have a toshiba hd-xa2 which is the most kick ass upscaling dvd player around.nothing can touch its silicon reon hqv chip for upscaling dvds its incredible.i will just replace my hd-dvds with blu-ray as they come available.and use the hd-xa2 hd-dvd player for standard dvds.
