I would like to add that I am a Pentecostal, and I have great friends that are Catholic, Baptist, and a few Lutherans. We all might believe slightly different, but what brings us together is the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, believe He died for our sins, and asking Him to be the Savior of our lives. We might all think certain things are different, but in the end all that really matters is Jesus Christ...the one common denominator for a true Christian

Long hair in the bible, like any other text, should be understood in context. If it was a shame why did Samson have it and why did Jesus for that matter. First find out why that directive was given to that particular group of men.

Well, I don't think that David or Guy are going to Hell because they have long hair. But the Bible does say in I Corinthians 11:7 &14(KJV)that a man ought not cover his head for he is the image and glory of God, and that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. But standards aren't something I expect from the Gaither crowd. I do enjoy their music though and thank hoover4000 for all the downloads! It has really blessed me and mine.
I meant no offense, just that you can't get that diverse of a crowd of Christians together and have them all agree on everything doctrinally or in regards to standards. I listen to them because I enjoy a lot of their music, NOT because I agree with them 100%. I know people who refuse to listen to them because of the guy's long hair. I think that you can be too "heavenly minded that you are NO earthly good." Not everyone is going to agree with you 100%, in the end....let God take care of it.
hey, I just thought of something. Are the Penecostals following the old testament? cause it says in... numbers I think... that you werent supposed to cut your hair or you would be cut off from your people. @tormenter012 The Pentecostals are not following the old testament. The whole hair issue is a line of distinction between the sexes. The word shorn and shaved in the NT in the greek means to be cut as with scissors. That is the basis of that so it is biblical in the NT.

Long hair in the bible, like any other text, should be understood in context. If it was a shame why did Samson have it and why did Jesus for that matter. First find out why that directive was given to that particular group of men.

Not to be disputive, but I don't think it actually says in the Bible that Jesus had long hair, just the usual portrayal in art :)

I understand what you mean but it IS a secret to some because the choose for it to be a secret. their is still people out there that do not know that Jesus is Lord. That's the whole idea of witnessing. If EVERYONE knew, Jesus would not have asked us to witness and spread the Gospel.

Well, I don't think that David or Guy are going to Hell because they have long hair. But the Bible does say in I Corinthians 11:7 &14(KJV)that a man ought not cover his head for he is the image and glory of God, and that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. But standards aren't something I expect from the Gaither crowd. I do enjoy their music though and thank hoover4000 for all the downloads! It has really blessed me and mine.

I meant no offense, just that you can't get that diverse of a crowd of Christians together and have them all agree on everything doctrinally or in regards to standards. I listen to them because I enjoy a lot of their music, NOT because I agree with them 100%. I know people who refuse to listen to them because of the guy's long hair. I think that you can be too "heavenly minded that you are NO earthly good." Not everyone is going to agree with you 100%, in the end....let God take care of it.

hey, I just thought of something. Are the Penecostals following the old testament? cause it says in... numbers I think... that you werent supposed to cut your hair or you would be cut off from your people. I think that was the law for just the people who wanted to become Nazarites though, I cant remember lol

@tormenter012 The Pentecostals are not following the old testament. The whole hair issue is a line of distinction between the sexes. The word shorn and shaved in the NT in the greek means to be cut as with scissors. That is the basis of that so it is biblical in the NT.

lol well it also depends on the person. like a lot of people in my church are really strict. and i'm not saying thats a bad thing really, but some people who claim to be Christians, are narrow-minded in general. But you'll find that i'm a "laid-back pentecostal" I guess you could call it LOL

Ok, true we Pentecostals believe that guys shouldn't have long hair but if a guy does that doesn't mean that I am going to say that God can't move through him or that he is going to hell.
