  • good work here

  • Fantastic tips man.

  • Hey can someone tell me what warping means and what do beAt markers do

  • nice one dude

  • What Not?

  • Stop saying "and what not" after every sentence you fucking junky!!!I IT'S NOT COOL!

  • @Jahtomic you're fucked.

  • @illmatic506 and how is that?!Its just irritating and it makes no sence!(and probably he is a junky anyway:p) or at least a pothead!

  • @Jahtomic just my first impression of you I guess.

  • @illmatic506 haha:-)

  • @Jahtomic

he's just trying to help... :\

  • @denboverplz And i m just joking:s, jeees, "and what not" just doesn't mean anything, and it's completly useless to say it after every sentence, and what not.(see what i mean):-)

  • @Jahtomic true..but no one really cares lol

  • whats the name of the oringinal track

  • can I get an 88bpm track to play at 120 and not screw the sample ...if i use duble time it will sound like hell ...a samp with more drums.... is there any to make them sound ok? btw nice work:)

  • 'Cause I'm bringing you home tonight.

  • "Beer with my voice"

    I totally agree....

  • "Yeah.. I think I'm gonna take this.. And do something with it.." Great!

  • Not sure how it works on drums, Melodyne editor is your best bet with current software options.

  • rad vid man, good info

  • you're dope ass guy.. good lookin out

  • Is there a way to sample or rather extract out just a certain sound from the sample? For instance, if I wanted to just get the voice and there is a drum track in the back that I want to bypass. How can I do that? I hope this gets answered.

  • @lasneh i have noooo idea... but i'd like to know about this as well .... maybe even in a different program?

  • Pretty good, but sometimes you made a mistake, or just go on fast.

  • you voice sounds fine...?

  • stereo mic?

  • Thanks. Good advice.

  • im using an mpd26 how do you chop and sample and put in on the mpd

what is the name of the sample

  • Can you do a tute on how you made the sections?

  • Cant get my sample on beat? any help?

  • Comment removed

  • Did you attempt to EQ out the drums?

  • I don't like the idea of "stealing" sounds rather than creating them, or music that black, but this one sounds very good... thanks for sharing!

  • Tight man... Sounds like a DOOM beat off of Op:Doomsday. Seriously ill.

  • sweet thanks for this!!

  • Hey, what are you using to make the separate sample files from a single track that you then plug into ableton?

  • Do you know how can I take only the voice from a track.

  • @shioncherry some really good multiband eqs, or just looking for the acapella.

  • @shioncherry of if you can find the instrumental in the same kbps you can just inverse it and play the inversed instrumental and the original together and you're left with the vocals only.

  • @DJRoksor Can you make a tutorial?

  • @shioncherry search for "Acapella ableton" in youtube.. the first result explains it.. I'm not sure if it'll explain it very clear but if you don't understand it you can search for "Acapella audiocity" because there are a lot of tutorials for that program and then use the same method for ableton..

  • how do you know if the tempo is right ?

  • @brohamjohn if it go in sync with the tempo.

  • "listen to other peoples stuff and then get ideas from that" perhaps the worst advice for creative people....

  • @KATOMATE01

Nearly any form of creativity in the history of creativeness comes from being influenced by another body of work. Learning from people who do it better than you is never a bad idea.

  • do i use the sampler to sample? or do i just drag it into audio and click on it and chop it up. im so confused. someone help?

  • I literally came in here expecting this to be another dumb tutorial video from some wannabe musician but I am pleasantly surprised to find this was actually good! Thanks man.

  • Awesome video.

For future reference, the plural of 'cadence' is 'cadenza'. ie, listen to the cadenza throughout the song as each cadence will likely be different.

  • double time on that sample sounds like a pharcyde song. thanks for the tutorial!

  • nice man, learned a different way to cut up .. question .. whats the best setting you use for warping when u bring the audio in... do you want the program to processes the whole track or just a little warping ... havin some difficulties warping so im tryin to get any edge i can with it . thanks..

  • Very nice!

  • awesome man, thank you.

  • informative but drawn out

  • Hey spaz, I was wondering how you pulled the original clips from the song. Is there an easy way to cut and pull those out. As far as saving them individually like you did.

  • Lool sample every beat haha

  • Sounds god damn good :D

  • @bboyspaz Ever used the 'Slice audio to MIDI' function for chopping samples? Its a really good quick way of chopping a sample at the warp markers and rearranging each slice and editing them all individually within the sampler. Really speeds up your productions, give it a shot. Big up

    Sam UK

  • @MODIFYPERSPECTIVE He does you were just commenting a 2 years later, like I am commenting 3 months after the fact

  • @MODIFYPERSPECTIVE good for drums and breaks..a bit tricky for musical/melodic stuff

  • @MistaMase102 Yeah, it's also quite good for slicing and rearranging vocals too :)

  • @MODIFYPERSPECTIVE NAH DUDE NAH FA REALZH DON'T ANY ANYBODY DO THAT SHIT IT'S THE DEVIL!!!!!

  • quick question about the product man...... ive been using fl studio ono my pc but i just got a mac so im not able to load it... n e ways i was wondering which version of ableton your running i know that there are some ableton live products out only for 200 and the suit 8 edition is like 800 bucks which one do i get???

  • That lil track of ya'llz did not go with that beat, but nice tutorial thou...I'm just a connoisseur of true hiphop...

  • AAAANDDDD WHAAATTTTT NOOOOTTTTTT

  • HEY WHATS UP THIS IS ENDIUM i wondering if you could take a listen to this. this is what i am trying to do im guessing its similar... i can't paste the link but its SKRILLEX IN FOR THE KILL)

  • think my brothers playing his trumpet

  • very good tutorial thanks!

    u got skills too btw

  • how u put doc on side?

  • @ItzFunny2Me start on the desktop screen then click the upper left apple scoll down to dock and pick the position you would like

  • Hey man, great videos, really helping finetune my sampling on Ableton.

Up untill now I've been chopping directly in Ableton, which is messy IMO. I noticed your using Peak, what version did you get, Peak Pro or LE?

    Thanks man!

  • Thanks a lot! I'm def getting Ableton

  • Man, awesome track! Thanks for the video dude.

  • nice tutorial

  • Thanks for the tutorial yo

  • nice channel, wich version do u use in this video ?

  • I see that you use four bars for every sample clip you cut. is that a standard length people use or can you use two bars and maybe one? is it just cause its easier to cut and sample four or is that the way its supposed to be in order to sound clean!..?

  • so how did you learn all of this?

  • Holy shit bro you just blew my mind with your skills.... I am a trance producer and I am learning tons of new tricks from you thanks man....

  • Why are you working with a 9 bar phrase? In 4/4 time I would expect to work with multiples of 4, right?

  • @tborbe it ends at the beginning of the 9th bar. notice there is no zero. Starts at 1

  • nice vid man. just a quick question, unrelated to sampling, how did u get that skin and also how did u make it so when u clicked a red ring was sent of?

    cheers

  • ive been on the fence for a while, you just convinced me to buy ableton

  • and what not

  • so you have ableton suit or just ableton??

  • cool for french house

  • your cool brother thanx again a million

  • omg, sampling in record/reason is waaay easier and you can immediately edit them, this does not seem to compare to sampling in Record.

  • @tintala actually your wrong. He is just doing it a retarded way. Not getting the most out of ableton. You can chop up samples auto assign them and use ableton just like a MPC.

  • @Connoisseur206 how do u do it sliceing the sample to your drum rack there like 5 different ways u cam sample in live the way he does it is the best imo because u dont have to warp it like he says u do hes making it harder than it really is

  • @Connoisseur206 do you think having Reason and Ableton together works good? what would be the advantages to having both?

  • @tintala IMO, they work great together. The advantages of course would be you have ableton and reason!! But seriously though, For ableton, you would have user friendly interface, Session view, Arrangement View, Great stock plug-ins, easy to learn DAW and for reason... you would have the ability to patch cables

  • track suckeddd

  • subscribed.... runnin around robbin banks all whacked on scooby snacks....

  • YO man your vids helped alot but u really show half of the process u should do some vids on adding drums after yo

  • Wow very nice!

  • Good job my friend !

  • I use FL's Edison to cut samples, and then I export them as 24 bit Wav files. The cool thing is that even though FL only has a 16 bit sound engine, the quality of the 24 bit wav it exports sounds just fine. Then I import the slices into Ableton and go to work.

  • amazing!

  • how can u remove the drums on the sample and then add your own drums and other things like that?

  • PLS HOW DO U ADD BEATS TO SAMPLE AFTER U FINISH CHOTTIN DEM PLS. I JUST CAN GET THE KIND OF BEAT I WANT FROM MY pc 40 or key board i want to be able to play the beats in my own partern pls help...if u can

  • how do you import sounds i dont knoww :O :(

  • hahah nice man...i like the beat sounds dope...hit me up on youtube pm im also a ableton producer...and you look like the best producer in ableton that ive found so far on youtube haha..

  • very very good video :P

  • Wtf, I just started using Ableton, but thanks 2 this video I was able to create a decent Dilla-wannabe beat within 2 days, thnx so much!

  • informative and what not

  • Smooth track. Don't mean to be critical ( I hate being critical) but I would've used different drums. Dope track though. I'm really fellin it 5/5 & thanks for the tut. Ableton looks cool. Do they have it for PC?

  • Im having a little trouble editing a REX sample, its just some hat's they are playing out half the speed as I would like, however the warp button in the sample window is gray and wont let me speed it up or slow it down, anyone know a few good tricks to get around this?

  • @Psylence395 Render it into a Wave via ableton or another DAW ... it's possible to rewire as well.. Using ableton as the slave or Reason as slave. If you are using MIDI controls during a rewire process it can be a little confusing with routing and in that case I would recommend MIDI YOKE. So recording the "Rewire Slave", will almost usually create a wave file, that is then easily manipulated.

You might try audacity which is free, or a version of Reaper for free.

  • Yo man you need to get up on some base information man.

  • Yo man that's an 8 bar phrase not a 9 bar. It stops on 9 but actually contains only 8 bars.

  • @TheWorldFamousBrianG :

If it stops on 9 then it's 8. You don't count where it stops. Only where it played through.

  • Dude sounds like Asher Roth!!! lol

  • good looks on the tutorial.. Where did you do the drums on? Abelton or Mpc?

Im asking becasuse i just got ableton recently but havent used it yet. been doing everything on the Mpc so far.

    1

  • Great sample...Bootie Brown flipped it for The Pharcyde's "The Hustle"

  • real good tutorial dude, thanks a lot

  • warping alot faster n easier bro

  • Hey bboyspaz, amazing tutorial man...got to finally know bout samplin after goin thru so many tutorials over here...i have invented somethin xtremely new when it comes to samplin new sounds...its calld resprayin where in the elements of a track are resprayed onto the track itself using Trakor nd Ableton...it already has bcum very popular among my musical friends internationally nd i wud like u to check it out...this is the link to my profile which stated me as the 9th best in India in Trance...

  • Thank you. Haven't really wanted to toy with samples until I heard Cyberoptix-Lullaby on myspace. Very informative and worth 11 minutes of my time.

  • Good sample and whatnot.

  • and what not.....and what not.....and what not.....and what not....and what not....

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick

  • good sample!

  • This sample is so Hot!

  • This is probably one of the best tutorials I've seen in YouTube. Super informative step by step clear instructions. Loved it!

  • the nicest!!!

i have ever serached so long for something like this

    THANK YOU

  • Thanks tons for this tut bboyspaz. It really helped me understand this better. Keep up the great work man!

  • good information

  • This smooth, nice

  • so much for me using the sampler.

  • I'm using the ableton live 7 edition that came with my AKAI APC40 and every time I click a folder to open music with it the same way he does, it opens but there's no songs in there (like an empty folder). I'm a total noob with ableton, but does any one know why it would be doing that? Do I need to convert the MP3 files or something?

  • Just by showing me the arrangment view selector, you have changed my ableton life, thank you sir.

  • Thanks a lot man. You get the point through so much clearer than most tutorials!

    peace

  • THANKS A MILLION mate !!!!! Thanks to your vid I've finally understood how to bring my samples to tempo and chop them neatly. Been pulling my hair for weeks on this one... Perfect tutorial.

  • Perfect tutorial in all aspects ;)

    Subscribed for sure!

  • What did you use to sample, to cut the phrases?

I use Ableton, I have to change MP3 to WAV and then drag it into a track and find the tempo. But it's a long way to do it.

  • In this particular case I used Peak. But you can use Ableton itself to do it. Or all types of other programs.

  • @bboyspaz how to we use them as chops ?

  • @bboyspaz how do you put songs in ableton.. like if i wanna put jay z and chop the song up.. how do i transfer the song to ableton.. can i do it from youtube or what.. help me pleez

  • @robmosz to find the tempo i usually play the track in a media player then use the tap function in ableton.

  • waht nod what nod =)

    really helpful tho

  • im very happy i found your channel:)

  • great tutorial...thanks so much...

  • so all of you viewers recommend ableton over the rest of em? logic? reason?

    9th wonder's beast

    little brother!

  • yes

  • hey man, nice tutorial. Would you say Ableton is a good program on its own for all round use? I'm just doing beat making right now, but do you know if having ableton is fine or I should maybe start looking for another program to use with it later on (depending how deep i want to get)?

    thanks

  • ableton can do everything that the other programs (cubase, fl studio, reason, logic, etc) can do (except for any specialty features, which each one has). Its more geared towards live performance than the others...but that doesn't mean it cant be used purely for composition. For learning, it is BY FAR the easiest (IN MY OPINION)

  • Ableton is great I would def recommend it, you can expand as as much as with with plugins and new samples etc, ableton by itself would be ok but reason goes well with it for me.

  • use fl studios for your drum beats

  • can you sample audio recorded on abelton?

like say an acoustic snare drum

and then putting that into a beat on abelton?

  • YEA MAN!! that's the right outlook onto Ableton. Just remember you can sample ANYTHING in Ableton. And that's actually a REALLY good idea for a new tutorial!!

  • oh cool im still new to abelton

your vids do help nicely ill be looking forward to future vids :)

    thanks

  • Good vid man. Sounded like something DOOM would rap 2...

  • great stuff mate i think it would ALLSOW look great with a dnb beat

  • Aha..very good thanks!

  • hahaha "yeaaahh i think imma take this"

    awesome tut thanks bro

  • what tutorials u watched when u started doing music with ableton? I mean very basic things

  • I actually just kinda learned it on my own. Had a couple of friends who used it some, and learned it in class a little bit. But mainly me and live were meant to be. So it just kinda happened.

  • ok, I just need some basic tutorials to start cuz I dont speak english as my mother tongue. And the program itself has some wierd words and stuff. :P

  • Ableton comes in a variety of languages, have you checked to see if yours is an option?

  • not in my language :<

  • and what not

  • What version of Ableton is this?

  • Ableton 6

  • will you be doing more videos in 8? nice job too!

  • yep. I'm actually all back up and running on my computer, and it's looking like I'm going to have a little more time. So GET READY FOR SOME MORE TUTORIALS!!

  • dope man! just started with live 8 this week. i saw your vids and got excited, then realized you were doing live 6 tutorials..keep doin ya thing tho!!

  • Holy shit this is inspirational. Ya earned my subscription :D. 5/5.

  • at 6:10 to make that stutter with the copy and paste is dope. great tutorial, thanks bro

  • thanks a lot man, now i have to go out and buy ableton again...

  • lol

  • lol like shit..
