I have website and targeting in United States. Now, I want to target globally. So, I am going to set unlisted in settings. So, Does it really matter for my organic ranking which is associated to United States?
My entire website is targeting all countries with English language. I was thinking that to UN-Check radio button is more powerful than set unlisted.
To set a geographic target: 1. On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click the site you want. 2.Under Site configuration, click Settings. 3.In the Geographic target section, select the option you want.

Assuming I want to target states, cities in USA, do I have to create subdomains for each target and verify each one of them in webmaster tools as a separate entity? Meaning over 100 subdomains?
I have a site, which has one sitemap for it. Now I want to geo target a sub directory. Do I make a seperate sitemap for this page?
If so, then both the main sitemap and the sitemap for the subdirectory will have that page. Is that how it should be done, or am I doing it incorrectly?

But how about if a hotel has a TLD SI (Slovenia) and the server is located in Slovenia and dont wan't it to be relevant JUST to french people? Well in our country people are used to just type in google.com, they dont bother to type google.si. Meaning that if they type in the name of the hotel in google.si its one of the first, if they type it in google.com its somewhere on the 6th page, altho the ones before it are just randomly mentioned on forums or just totaly irelevant and are a part of text
ok, i am confused and i hope someones clear the air for me?
My site got tutorials which don't target to a specific location. I wish to have good traffic to my website, but it says if i dont choose a location to target, traffic to my website will be less. As i said before my site dont target users of any specific location, so in order to get good traffic wat should i do?. specify the geographic location to my country or stay without mentioning anything?
ya ur right, i had a geographical target for a week with my webmaster tool and u know wat?
My traffic got reduced and no visits at all to my website, then again i unchecked it and it took a month or so for me to get back the usual traffic i use to get to my website before. :)
Great video, although I wish Susan would have also stated what the advantages/disadvantages are of using either a subdomain or subfolder for languages! If anyone has any insights on this matter, please share!
I wish we could have the same options by city/state. For instance, we develop custom software in Miami. I wish Miami-based searchers would see us on the map w/o searching "Miami" or "33173." That is all.
However I think a problem occurs when Google automatically sets a geographic target for region-specific domains. For instance Google assumes sites with [.me] should only be targeted at Montenegro, but this may not always be the case and as far as I know there is no way to remove this default association.
At least she speaks very clearly and nicely and you can understand her quite well, if you pay a bit of attention. In fact, she is the Googler I can understand better when I listen to their videos or chat. Susan Moskwa: 10 points!

@sat002 Watch the video again and listen to the bit where she says "what if I do not want to geo-target".
1 - choose a non-geographic TLD (.com, .org etc - as appropriate)
2 - do not set up geo-targeting in the Google WM tools
Pretty simple really - and all covered nicely in the video.
