How would you explain that people that live in red states give more per capita than those in blue states? In fact, according to records from the IRS, the top twenty states in terms of per capita giving are ALL red states. Conservatives don't have a problem with giving or having our gov't help those in need. Speaking for myself, I often have a problem with who progressives think need help (see SCHIP and subprime fiasco) and how they see fit to help (usually handing over money).
