It could be seen that Albarn is tired and frustrated of playing this song all the time, there's tension.

The host introduced them as a SUPER great band, and not sure about the Bassist (he's always happy) but Damon and the drummer were frustrated, didn't wanna go whack, that's where damon's never before heard clean voice came in. Interesting to hear him actually sing academically.
