  • I love your videos, i am young and love to cook, I tell my mom to make this and that ! :)

  • What an amazing woman you are! I research all kinds of youtube videos for recipies but I always end up coming back to your page for the one I choose!! Here I go with the chicken noodle soup...I'm sooo nervous!! Thank you for taking the time to help all of us.

  • what if I dont have celery is it going to matter?

  • @talley3319 You may omit the celery, and the soup will still be very good.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks Betty!!! Just don't have it on hand.

  • Im making this for my kids tonite

  • Delishness

  • Hi Betty! Is there a reason why you say to cook the chicken on the stove top first? Because I have a tendency to want to boil the chicken in chicken broth rather than to fry it. Not only that, but I use the broth in the soup after I've boiled the chicken in it.

Is doing it that way bad for any reason, like affecting the taste or something?

You're such a lovely woman and a great southern cook, it's really wonderful that you share so much of yourself on youtube.

  • @smokeemonkee Thanks for your sweet comment! I cook the chicken on the stove top in order to brown it up, and that makes it more flavorful. You may just put raw pieces of chicken in and cook them with the other ingredients, but they will stay white and will not add any flavor to the soup.

    --Betty :)

  • do you do home made chicken broth? and could one add wine to chicken soup or that more of a stew thing...

  • @steflondon88 You will see how to make chicken broth in my Chicken and Dumplings, Part I--the Chicken video. You may put wine in chicken soup, if you choose.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks Betty, your one of my new favourite youtube channels. and i only have three

  • You might not like this, but what I think is yummy and homey, is to squeeze some lemon juice on top of your chicken soup....

  • i like noodle soup, and i like ur way to make it....

    thank u for good recipe

  • It's way healthier to eat from regularly chopped food or canned?not sure.

  • @spotlight792 I would advise anyone to use fresh chopped ingredients if you have the availability and time. Since a lot of people don't, I also give recipes using canned and frozen foods.

    --Betty :)

  • Omg did not know they had canned chicken...:O. )

  • @spotlight792 You can find most things canned; for some people, that's the best option. Others may want to use leftovers, or buy a rotisserie chicken, or cook a lot of chicken in a slow cooker--lots of options!

    --Betty :)

  • Oh, and please show how to make regular chicken for soup if we don't have left over chicken :D?

  • @spotlight792 Place about 3 chicken breasts (salted) in a slow cooker and cook for 4 hours. If you don't have a slow cooker, put the chicken breasts in boiling water, bring back to a boil, reduce heat, and cook until nice and tender with no pink showing.

    --Betty :)

  • Fave cook garu. Amazing, betty, just a amazing.

  • good ole' aldi's

  • @SimsForever46 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Id love some of that right now lol

  • @ThatCrazieGrl Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • This was another delicious recipe as always Ms. Betty. I made it tonight because I was feeling under the weather and I swear it made me feel better than cold medicine did. My old chicken soup recipe, may it rest in peace, is about to be replaced by this one. Just went back to have a little more as a midnight snack. Thank you so much for the recipe!

  • @JewelsyCakes Thanks for your great feedback! I always recommend this recipe to people who are feeling sick. It works physically and psychologically.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty,

You hit another homer right out of the park, my friend! It's late and while I should be heading to bed my stomach is RUMBLING after watching this video. If you have the means (damn this Recession!) consider investing in a pressure cooker to throw in all your chicken carcasses and vegetable scraps -- in 30 minutes you will have HEAVENLY homemade stock, rather than broth, perfect for this HEAVENLY recipe of yours. As always, you rock!

  • @97WarriorGrad That's a great idea for making homemade chicken stock! Thanks for your sweet comment and for the great tip!

    --Betty :)

  • Aloha Betty,

Your presentation is EXCELLENT! As for broth base, I've found Knorr's Chicken bouillon cubes give homemade Chicken Noodle Soup that "Campbell's" flavor. That is, if that's what you're after.

I usually make Chicken Noodle Soup using the leftover Whole roasted chicken from Costco or Foodland here in Honolulu.

Now it's off to check out more of your YouTube how-to recipe vids!

    Mahalo,

    Pomai

  • @tastyisland Hi Pomai,

Thanks for your great tips! I will try them next time I make chicken noodle soup!

    --Betty :)

  • Very similar to my recipe, but I thicken mine with a little cornstrarch, and add parsley flakes and garlic powder. i wish my girl could make something like that for me! lol

  • @transammike Thanks for your nice comment! I like the addition of parsley flakes and garlic powder, and I thicken soups like this with cornstarch quite often, too!

    --Betty :)

  • HOW I WISH MY MOMMY CAN COOK LIKE THIS! :D It looks sooo good!

  • @9421700 Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • hi betty! my family love this soup! the only thing is how can i get the noodles not to absorb all of my broth? I can have plenty broth then 10 minutes later i open the pot and all of it is nearly gone!

  • @HeyGuysItsMolara It sounds like it is cooking too fast. That will boil away your broth. Try cooking it at a lower heat.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen ok thank u

  • Thanks so much for posting this! I have leftover chicken and I am super sick! Looks easy to make and I'm sure tastes a lot better than canned soup! Boyfriend is running to the store to make it for me! :)

  • @crissangelissmexy I hope you get to feeling better soon, and I hope the soup helps!

    Take care,

    --Betty :)

  • I am actually fasting..........U can imagine what I wanna do at this moment! :P

  • @AhnaKaulitz03 Sorry...Maybe you can have this some other time!

    --Betty :)

  • It looks soo good, i've been looking for a different recipe other than the ones my mom and dad have shown me. your recipe looks simple and easy. :)

  • @Clarnetplayer07 It is simple and easy! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Can I not add celery or carrots

  • @110cottoncandy Celery and carrots will be fine!

    --Betty :)

  • Thank you for posting all of your wonderful videos (recipes, vacation & restaurant trips, napkin folding, bloopers too). I really appreciate the video plus the ingredients / directions for your recipes. I made the chicken soup today & it was delicious. Your recipes are helping me to be more adventurous with cooking. P.S. I loved the video showing your milk pitchers. You have a beautiful collection.

  • @akraft12345 Thanks for your lovely comment and your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Excellent! I forgot about using mushrooms. I'm going to use your video in conjunction with another video. The only main thing the other person did differently was that he boiled a whole chicken, separated the meat, and used the fat/skin in the original water to make the stock. Then he separated the fat/skin from the water, and did everything else normally.

  • @raby760 lol i'm doing the same, using info from another video in conjunction. I think you may be using Jack's video....your description follows his recipe.

  • i made this today and i like it :))) i did everything the same but only the chicken broth because i they don't sell it where i live so my soup was a little bland

  • @nombrechile Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • You and i have the same taste in the clothes we wear

  • Hi Betty, can I use other types of vegtables insted? Not fussed on celery... I was thinking broccoli, carrot and mushroom?

  • @petalovespongy For this soup, you may use any chopped vegetables that you like; broccoli, carrots, and mushroom all sound great!

    --Betty :)

  • It is so good my mom made it cuse i was sick and it made me better!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is so good my mom made it cuse i was sick and it made me better

  • Really good..but i would do the veg.right in the pot the first time....that way u dont lose the flavor in ur pan..&..less dishes to wash!..

    Good vid!

  • Most excellent Be Latin Beauty ** rockmycity.info **

  • yummm that looks good.

  • im just trying to make chicken with broth and noodles whats the best way to do that without all the vegatbles and such

  • @djshred69 Just heat 1 or 2 cans of chicken broth. When it comes to a boil, add noodles--enough to use up the chicken broth. Reduce heat and simmer a few minutes until done. You might want to search bettyskitchen for brown noodles. I did the same thing with beef broth and noodles.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen The audio & video quality & clarity are stellar! And the chicken soup sounds like it might be pretty good to eat. Did you use a camcorder or a webcam for this? Love the presentation!

  • @1958boomergirl Thanks for the lovely comment! We use an inexpensive Canon PowerShot digital camera for all of our videos.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty,

I'm a college student that has never cooked anything from scratch (besides chocolate chip cookies). I have been feeling under the weather lately and my friend gave me a can of chicken noodle soup and Thursday morning I was craving homemade chicken noodle soup.

I went on youtube looking for a recipe and found you! I'm so happy I did .. it came out great!!!

Thank you so much .. I'll definitely be browsing your channel!!

  • @funsized I feel bad for you canned chicken soup is discusting :(

  • I made this soup tonight. It was so delicious! Thanks for the recipe, Betty!

  • thank you so much i love cooking and ur my cook book, THANKS AGAIN

  • I really love chicken soup, but why people in the usa, using chicken broth or chicken stock all the time when they make chicken soup which drives me nuts, because all good flavor and tastes are contained in the chicken broth, American chicken soup is so easy, anyone can make delicious soup if you have money to buy a chicken broth, im sorry Betty i love your channel that i have learnt a lot things from you, However , i never use chicken broth or stock, my soup is still damn good,

  • I don't really understand your objection to the way I make chicken soup. It is very good; I'm sure yours is very good, too.

    --Betty :)

  • ignore the haters Betty, Your tops in my book. Also, I watched your anniversary video and was wondering if you could tease up the hair and wear the large glasses again. You know, just to relive the 80's.

  • Thanks! The hair was permed; I don't think I want to do that, and I didn't save those *huge* glasses! Thanks for your interest!

    --Betty :)

  • @jwalk1014 heey,i dont hate anyone. i was just saying my opinion about making chicken soup that made you think i was hater, i did not blame her, i just said, i dont like way people use chicken broth or stock for their soup, that was my point, i dont care whethere u like me or not, of course it good soup.i like it.

  • This looks wonderful, and so easy:) Funny as it may be, i NEVER thought of using leftover chicken.. :) but now that i know how easy it makes the soup.. I will definitely be making it.. thanks betty.. great kitchen btw:)

  • I haven't posted many fish items--just tuna melt, grilled salmon, and crab cakes (not really fish!). I really need to do some restaurant-style baked or fried fish. Thanks for the idea! And, I hope other people who post pick up on the idea, too! Thanks for commenting!--Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • Such a simple yet affective meal,....over here in England,it's difficult to buy stock in cans,so I make my own (MUCH cheaper than buying those expensive French packets, and a good tip,...the stock you have leftover,..place in ice trays, they make excellent stock cubes for future use:-) I made this Chicken noodle soup last night and had a whole French stick to mop up the liquid, and I have to say,I was thoroughly satisfied. Thanks for showing us how to make a simple, yet hearty soup Betty :-)

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! You are very welcome for the recipe. I *love* your idea about freezing leftover stock in ice trays! Thanks for your feedback on the soup!

  • Thank you for another yummy recipe. I've always love chicken noodle soup, especially when I'm feeling under the weather. I usually buy frozen grilled chicken from Costco to save on time when I cook, will those work? Thanks Betty!

  • Definitely! That's a great idea. I wish I had thought to mention that in the video! Thanks for your comments on the soup!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks delicious. I have to try it. :-)

  • Jimmy! So nice to hear from you!!! You're getting behind! (Oh, not too much--I have a few I haven't uploaded yet.) Take care...

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I am behind on a lot of things. It's so hard to keep up with all these videos that I'm subscribed to. :-/ :-)

  • Good Morning, Jimmy! Yes, I've noticed that your circle of friends (?) have a lot to discuss. Just curious--do you feel passionate with regard to what you write, or is it just and intellectual pursuit? BTW, I love your voice ("as most women do").

    --Bets

  • i might try this.

  • Thanks, Aly!

I think you will really like this. Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • This looks delicious! Really warming and comforting but great for all occassions. Also, whilst i think your figure is enviable, could this be good diet food? (depending on how fatty the chicken is and how much butter/margarine is used?)

  • I think it is great diet food, the way I made it--with the chicken grilled and all. It has approximately 240 calories per serving (1/4 of the whole pot), and the fat grams are very low, since the chicken does not have added fat, and the main source of fat is the butter or margarine used to saute the vegetables. (You can even cut this down without losing a lot of flavor.) The broth is virtually fat free. Using this as diet food, please leave off the crackers. Diet food can taste great!

    Betty:)

  • Wow that looks good :)

  • Thanks! It's very easy! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • It's nice to cut some fresh herbs on top of the soup, too. Obviously, that won't work in the dead of fall/winter soup season, but right now it would be great. I love to use parsley or lemon thyme.

  • I started to put parsley on top, but opted for the cracked pepper! I didn't think the two would look right together! I've not tried lemon thyme on top, but it sounds great--and both herbs look so pretty on top of soup when they are fresh! Thanks, Patsy!

    --Betty :)

  • this looks really good , now i want some soup :P

  • Thanks! It's really easy to make! Thanks for viewing and commenting!
