@Michael00172 I have had my dyson for 8 years and no problems AT ALL. It is made of ABS. ABS is the material used in riot shields. I've had many problems with the Hoover T series. It loses suction WAY to fast. Even at peak proformance It never outcleans a dyson
No matter what the product..... some one will always try to knock the king (Dyson) from its thrown through propganda. This is one of what?? 1 of 8000 hate Dyson (because I did not buy one) videos on youtube.
from a scientific point of view i don't see how this is a fair test. For all we know the dyson leaves just as much residual dirt behind which the hoover will pick up. A better test would have been for them to do 3 1x3m strips or something, in the same room, and see how much each vacuum picked up!
kirby SENTRIA IS THE BEST VACUUM and shamppoer IN THE WORLD! I WORK FOR THE KIRBY COMPANY IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND MARYLAND. I put the suction hose on the Dyson on my penis. It gave me better sexual satisfaction than the Hoover. Go Dyson! Sucks so good it will replace your girlfriend.!
Unless you have serous allergies don't worry so much about dust and dander. We need all these bugs to make our immune systems stronger. Same thing for running to doctor to get antibiotics when you have a cold. Man up people! If you want to something to worry about then try Ebola and Bird Flu but don't worry about little bugs and the common cold!
and that "dirt" your dyson has in it after you vacuumed with the hoover isn't real dirt. it's carpet fibers. notice how they are lighter in color and are fluffy? that dyson is eating up your carpet, not grooming it. major dyson flaw right there, aside from how unsanitary bagless vacuums are. that's what they get for using a cheap plastic roller brush that costs $75 alone and a "belt" that costs $150!! ridiculous. i would never buy a bagless vacuum. biggest waste of money every. especially dyson.
ha! where's the proof u even vacuumed your house with the Hoover in the first place? and let me tell u, if u guys had vacuumed with an Oreck first, guess what the Dyson would have picked up??! NOTHING!! CAUSE THEY ARE JUNK!!!! and Orecks are the best vacuums u can buy. all bagless vacuums do is spread dirt and germs all around houses. and that Dyson would NEVER fit under places that an Oreck would. plus Orecks have so much more power. don't believe me? watch this vid: Oreck xl21 vs Dyson DC-14.
@mhtube01 Dyson have more power. It is just that some dysons use a helix brush. If it had a roller brush it would win. I know what your about to say. You would say that a oreck has more airwatts. You can't compare air watts through different companies. 1 Dyson airwatt is a lot more powerful than 1 oreck airwatt.
@zunehdrocks An airwatt rating is an airwatt rating. There is no differance.Oreck doesnt rate there vacuums with the airwatt system.102 mph is just that. The speed of the air.Airflow only.Dyson's use's the airwatt which is a combo of pulling or 'SUCTION" power and airflow "speed" of the air. Some companies use the more universal system called "waterlift"rating. Its a combo of both as well. Its a more acurate way of testing as it really somes the pulling power in raw form.
@zunehdrocks The Dyson DC14 for example is one of Dysons strongest vacuums in "airwatt" rating's.It measures about 85 inch's on the waterlift scale.Your Hoovers average about the same between 80 and 90 inch's.The Meile S7 has a 112 rating. The average 12 amp single fan Panasonic averages 95 to 110.The Triforce twin fan Panasonic has a little over 130".Alot stronger! The Dyson claims no-loss but it does very quickly as the pre-filter gets dirty.Oreck has only around 40 to 50"maxx on the test.
Man if guys only new. I work at a big box store and Dyson way over priced junk. As a matter of fact we can no longer refund your money, you have to deal with dyson's warranty witch is a long drawn out shipping deal. .A Hoover wind tunnel that we sell for 169.00 Takes it to school all day.
@altoidfart Every time you vacuum your carpet, carpet fibers come loose and get sucked into the vacuum. You can vacuum your carpet all day and all night and you will always pick up fibers
Get a metal vacuum ?, why !!!, just strap on a few dozen bricks, that should increase the weight sufficiently.
Because thats the only gain you will get by having a metal vacuum cleaner, the dyson is light which is a design feature,so it can be carried up and down the stairs one handed, not dragged behind like a mill stone, get with the new crazy technology called plastic, if you need something to hammer nails in with then go metal by all means
My mum had a Hoover for thirty years and it never broke, had the same mains cable on it at the end as at the start. Dysons have a habit of little bits falling off. You store the cable by wrapping it around the upper and lower holders on both vacuums, only the dyson has a nuisance clip to hold the end that Dyson are incredibly proud of. The Hoover didn't need one - the wire was made just the right length to flop over the top and the upper holder was tall enough for the wire to stay there.
I did the same thing with my 6 yr old dyson. After moving into my new home... The prior owners had thoroughly cleaned the carpet... They looked great. I brought my trusty Dyson over... Hmmmm Half filled the damned thing with hair and lint!!!! Go Dyson....! No filters no bags no problems.... Oh the hoses do werar out after 6 yes... replace em fo roughly 35 dollars US and keep on suckin!!
you do realzie that it would take you 12-15 dysons container dumps to fill a bag right?? so u dumping that container twice, isnt to spectacular.
you shelled out $700 and now ur trying to convince yourself it was a good buy. you will see how bad it is in a year when it has no suction, and you have nowhere to take it because no one does repairs on them
BELEIVE ME I KNOW, i had a dyson, thought it worked awesome, then in no time it was the biggest peice of crap ive purchased
My bagging days are done. It's a total waste of money. Now who's shelling out money? Over a period of time, all them bags will pay for the Dyson. I'm 100% satisfied with it, and I'd do it all over again if I were in the position to do so. =) No suction? What did you do try to suck in a sock?
No I did not pay $700, not even close. Did you pay that much? If so you got took! And WHO CARES, if it breaks in 1 yr. It has a FULL 5 yr warranty. No more walmart vacuums for me EVER.
@werewolfsteak24 have you seen the dc03?? the capacity is huge! and i had a dc03 and it took ages 2 fill up but it picks a huge fluff ball after 1 room :D
@werewolfsteak24 "12-15 container dumps"? Maybe you're unclear about how much a full-sized Dyson can hold? And, you do realize you need to wash the filter every 6 months (any vacuum that is), or more with heavy use. That will have the suction back just like that. Bags cost money. Even light handling at a store I work at, the Kirby vacuum bags are changed 3x a month (messes are 1/4 than what I do at home weekly). Why would I buy a bag vacuum to be changed every use? Cost of bags adds up!
I have a Hoover Windtunnel that uses bags and a Dyson DC14. The Hoover beats the Dyson hands down. The person in that video needs to change the bag on the hoover AND THEN do a test.
only a woman would make a video like this about vacuuming. hahah, get back in the kitchen you silly girl, you have a sandwich to make me. and when youre done, you can vacuum my mess up.
This test proves nothing. You could have two vacuums performing exactly the same and achieve the same result.
For example, assume two vacuums both collect 90 percent of the dirt on the carpet. Both vaccuums will leave behind 10% of the dirt. When the second vacuum goes over the carpet it will pick up 90% of the remaining 10%, which is 9% of the original dirt.
Whichever vacuum is the second vacuum will win in either case.
Compare 2 vacs. from the same time period cant u see that the hoover is worn out and the other vac. is brand new try making it a fair competition next time!
If you insist to test this way, you should at least give the 15 years old Hoover a chance by first vacuum your house with the Dyson, then again with the Hoover. See if the Hoover picks up any dirts missed by the Dyson.
i just got an old eureka for a $1...it was at a garage sale, its in perfect condition, and works perfect, its about 40 years old...chrome, but looks new.
This isn't a sound test. Try this... Vacuum the carpet with the Dyson. Empty the Dyson. Vacuum the carpet with Dyson again...WOW! YOU PICK UP MORE STUFF!
I bought a dyson dc 14 two years ago, from home depot, i love it, it suck the sh!t out the floor no durt or dust bein left over. compare to Oreck XL 21 better, it may suck slower but not dust or dirt well be left on surface, and it filter the air by sucking the surface so the durt and dust wont came back on the air..
I can see the brushroll on the old hoover is worn out. Now put a new brushroll, belt and bag in the hoover and it WILL outperform the dyson and the cost will be about $35.00 not $500. like the dyson.
dyson is way better, my mom just got a dyson slim from kmart on clearence for $125.00 it was a steal and it works better than any other vacuum we have ever had, it kicked my old orecks butt!!!
@Spadie13 Who replaces a new vacuum with a new vacuum? This was a lot more helpful to people who wanted to see what the possibilities could be if they replaced their existing vacuum cleaners.
My Dyson, a "root 8 cyclone" weighs a "ton," and carrying it up and down stairs is a real pain. Plus, there's no rubber strip along its "front lip" making my baseboards look they were a snack for a domestic beaver. Next time I spend this amount of money for a sweeper, it'll be for something much lighter.
Plus, I think Dyson's effectiveness is mostly due to its roller brush rod, that appears sturdier than most other sweepers.
I've been looking at all these vacuum vids cos I needed a new vacuum, my Hoover dust manager had broken down! and decided to buy a Miele allervac sensor 5000, Now I know how crap those Hoovers really are, man the Miele is the best, the suction on it is mad, I had trouble pushing it on the carpet when the knob was turned to max, it cost £139 knocked down from £199, if ur thinking of buying a vacuum believe me get a miele you won't regret it.
Thats not a side by side comparison. Now if you cleaned out your hoover and went over what the dyson did you get even more dirt. Why? Because no vacuum will pick up 100% of all the dirt on your floor. Also your comparing an old run down $40.00 hoover to a $500.00 dyson. Thats stupid too. Go by a Hoover windtunnel V2 for $400.00 and compare that. Basically both vacuums suck....or they don't suck.....You know what I mean!
yeah but did you vacuum under your bed? Not with the Dyson.:-) Look at all the dust you have to empty and breath when you empty the canister. Sebo, Miele S7, Riccar are your best uprights in all categories: filtration, suction, durability, etc.
actually the old hoover and the dyson have the same cfm rating. :) 54cfm the only difference is it is bagless. if she were to put a brand new bag in the hoover and vacuum over the dysons first job she will pull alot more stuff out that the dyson didnt get. simple law of physics. when vacuuming stuff will be left behind. even if its a so called miele.
just bought a riccar vibrance and i really think riccar is the best vacuum brand on the market. the price tag was 349 and it included many extra attachments. i was vacuuming with a 1981 Kirby heritage that still runs good. the riccar pulled out an incredible amount of dirt that was left behind. riccar is the best and dyson is terrible. dyson is a $100 vaccum with $400 dollars in advertising, riccar sells themselves. also, all major wear items are metal and it has a 4 year comprehensive warr.
That Hoover had to be over 10 yres old. The Dyson was probably brand new, but why should I care Bissel, Oreck, and Kirby are better than both. So are Kenmores
This is beyond terrible. I mean, do a test properly. Do the same with the Dyson first and I bet you Hoover would have picked up left over dust, especially since Dyson spreads it all through the air like wildfire.
lol, its james dyson. but if you do compare mike tyson, and james dyson i suppose they would be similar. in the fact that mike always gets the shit beat out of him so does dyson. LOL
I more fair comparision would have been to vacuum half of the house first with the Dyson, and they see if the Hoover picked up any left-overs. I have a Dyson, but the edge-cleaning is weak, and it seems the brush is weak too. I have to remove the hair from my shedding wife (lol) all the time from the brush too.
the dc07s are designed for european carpets, they don't work nearly as well as the dc17s. i just recently replaced a dc07 animal with the dc17 animal the the difference is CRAZY. the dc07 seems to just brush the top of the carpet off but the dc17 really gets deep into your carpet. the hose is much easier to use and the filter stays cleaner longer too. also, the beater bar doesn't JAM on everything like it does on the dc07.
You should test the $600.00 Dyson against a $50.00 Eureka and see how the Eureka out performs the Dyson. I noticed this when my Dyson was in for repair and I bought a cheap vacuum to use in it's absence. I thought the Dyson had done a good job until I notice how great my carpets look after being cleaned with a machine that was a fraction of the cost. I have now noticed that even my roomba out performs the Dyson and I don't have to push it! Try vacuuming with the dyson first!
*Gasp* I couldnt help but notice that you were wearing your shoes indoors....if you were in Japan you'd get your little finger chopped off for that kind of behavior! I lose sleep at the thought of it, I have to drink urine to clear my mind!
All of the coments are rong!!!!! you guys are talken fucking bullshit!!! (exepet for yoganate79's coment) DYSON IS THE BEST HOUSE-HOLD VACUM EVER BUILT!!!!!!!! ANYTHING ELSE IS GARBAGE ITS DYSON OR NOTHING!!!!!!! it go's 1:Dyson 2:miele 3:eureka 4:bissel those are the top for you embasells.
Dyson is a British vacumn cleaner and they are better than Hoover, Bisell, or Oreck. Dyson might have some competition with Kirby. Kirby vacs are very expensive cleaning toys and really suck stuff up good.
ha British when they make the darn thing in Malaysia If you want a REAL vacuum get a Riccar Supralite with a $279 base price it is lighter and cheaper than a Dyson yet it's built better AND has a lot more power. Your basic Dyson has only 58cfm, your basic chepo Hoover Windtunnel has 65cfm that should say something. All you're paying for with a Dyson is the Dyson stickers and the pretty colors and nothing more. I could care less how my vacuum looks as long as it's better than anything out there
id also like to point out that in a house with 4 cats and a long haired dog my old hoover turbo (the british model) picks up way more dust and dirt than a dyson with a full bag tye motor is only 410 watt compared to the dyson at 1200 watt that just means the dyson uses more electricity, they are the worst machine in the world open your eyes people you think coz you can see the dirt its works, it doesnt rip open ur vac bag and you wii see the same
I like my 1990 Electrolux Epic Series 3500 SR. But I would happily take a Dyson. I used one this summer several times when staying with a relative and they are good. Easy to empty. They are a bit heavier than my Electrolux though.
Yup I bought a brand new Dc07, and the brushbar didnt even work first time using it! So I found out how to reset it (from ONLINE..cause the manual is crap and didnt tell you how) and the vacuum still didnt even leave brush marks in the carpet. I vacuumed 2 rugs and one carpet area, and didnt even fill the bin halfway. A far cry from the "4 or 5 canisters of dirt" I should have gotten from one use. And P.S. ANY new vacuum will pick up what an OLD one leaves behind. GENIUS.
Yep, all the dirt on the second pass was picked up by the wand, not the regular vacuum. I have one of these yellow Dysons and it was a piece of crap from the day I bought it. Nice try though. .. You might have fooled a few people.
are you aware of the fact that your hoover looks a bit dusty ;) . I have the habit of cleaning my vacuum cleaner after every time i use it. house clean and tools clean :p .
why is it then that all consumer mags and my own experiance shows that dysons pick up really well.
I own a kirby spent lots of money on servicing and i have to say im unimpressed with its performance and weight. And yes its one of the newer G6's. Please i really want to get rid of it, its a waste of space!
seriously if you want a REAL vacuum you don't buy one of those cause you can buy a COMMERCIAL vacuum for the same price. Dyson is all hype I've tried it in Sears and wasn't impressed at all. They sold Dyson in the shop I bought the Riccar from and the guy told me he could sell me a windtunnel that could do better than that Dyson. And that Hoover was much older so it isn't fair competition, my grandma bought one of those Hoovers in 1996
Dyson is crap, I tried on in Sears, it didn't pick up any more than the Kenmore Progressive canister, and that sucker weighs as much as my Kirby Ultimate G I put both of them on a scale, my aunt has a Dyson so that's where I got that from and it's plastic so what does that tell you for quality? I dare you to put that sucker against my Riccar R500 then we'll see who wins
A Dyson doesn't use filters to separate dirt and air: that's what their root cyclone technology is for. The filters you speak of? Those filter the air coming out of the vacuum cleaner. Please look things up before you make sweeping statements...its like thinking before speaking.
i think you need you need to check the pre motor on the dyson and see how much dust and gritt get in them, the dust thats seperated goes throught the top cyclones and whatever is left is trapped by the pre motor filter thus reducing the airflow and making the machine lose suction, also take top cyclone apart and see how much crap is clogged in there, i work on dysons day in dayout, think you need think before you maake statements and do some proper research
ok in all these dysons videos why the hell do they always compare them with hoovers or bissels? could u compare it to something other then a WALMART special. dysons are crap believe me i own 3 vac stores, i know hat im talking about
why do so many people return these to sears after the salespeople tell them it's the greatest vac. People really find out the truth and end up going to a good Hoover or kenmore that uses a bag. a sure way to clog a dyson is to use it on brand new carpet. I've seen too many of these returned because they clog up.
Most of the Bissell bagless vacuums i find in the trash have clogged filters! People dont realize that all vacuums need maintnance. Bagless, or not. Cleaning filters is a dirty job, but not hard on a Bissell since they are washable.
...Now try vacuuming again with the Hoover after using the Dyson. You will find even more dirt coming out the carpet. Oldest trick in the book for vac salesmen. The Dyson (and all other bagless vacs) make a little dirt look like alot. The clear dust bin is part of the marketing.
I would rather take the older Hoover than a new Dyson any time. That's how a repair guy sees it.
Agin i hate to say it but in that vid that hoover isnt even on the headlight isnt on and that hoovers not old so the headlight should work..if ur gonna try to prove a point then do it right like i said dyson drules but the great and almight powerful hoover rocks and the famous slogan it beats...as it cleans...as it sweeps!!!!!!!!!
headlights will blow. just like a regular light in a house. just because the headlight dosnt work dosnt mean the vacuum isnt on. my friend has a hoover and it blows headlights once a month. its caused by the vibration in the machine shaking the filaments loose.
Once again white trailerpark trash trying to compare an old middle line Hoover to a brand new Dyson. Hate to say it, but the new Windtunnel 2 would get more dirt up than the Dyson. And you would have saved 200 bucks or more. But do what you have to to justify your purchases...
Dyson do not claim to have higher suction, just constant suction, ok the Hoover might pick up more to begin with (due to more powerful motor) but will pick up less and less the more you use it due to it blocking and loosing suction, something Dysons don't do. Get it right.
filter queen was the original patent holder of the vacuum that dosnt loose suction since 1925. they designed the technology he is using. and unfortunatly his vacuums do loose suction when the filters get clogged. those filters have to be washed every month. they claim every 6 months but normal vacuuming 3x a week they get FILTHY. filter queens dont and they dont loose suction. and the air they exaust is CLEAN.
Did Filter Queen really use a Dual Cyclone machine then go on to do a Root 8 Cyclone, if that was the case then surely they would have made a big fuss of Dyson using their idea from 80 years ago....news to me. If you can link a page to them saying Dyson are using their technology, then I stand corrected.
a vacuum cannot produce dual cyclones. there may be lots of little cones but there is only one where it all comes together. filter queen was the first to develop, patent and manufacturer that technology. you people and your cheep dyson pieces of crap make me sick. my dust buster cleans better than those things. but i guess everyone is just swooning over some english con artist.
Dyson Blows, The 60 dollar hoover tempo will out clean the 600 dollar dyson. Do a side by side demo with sand that you can see, and it wont even be close
I have this exact yellow Dyson vacuum and although it's great for picking up dirt and stuff, I really hate that loud ratcheting noise it makes once in a while. It's loud enough to give you a heart attack.

NOTHING!! CAUSE THEY ARE JUNK!!!! and Orecks are the best vacuums u can buy. all bagless vacuums do is spread dirt and germs all around houses. and that Dyson would NEVER fit under places that an Oreck would. plus Orecks have so much more power. don't believe me? watch this vid: Oreck xl21 vs Dyson DC-14.

jmfckintube02 1 year ago
@mhtube01 Dyson have more power. It is just that some dysons use a helix brush. If it had a roller brush it would win. I know what your about to say. You would say that a oreck has more airwatts. You can't compare air watts through different companies. 1 Dyson airwatt is a lot more powerful than 1 oreck airwatt.
zunehdrocks 1 year ago
@zunehdrocks An airwatt rating is an airwatt rating. There is no differance.Oreck doesnt rate there vacuums with the airwatt system.102 mph is just that. The speed of the air.Airflow only.Dyson's use's the airwatt which is a combo of pulling or 'SUCTION" power and airflow "speed" of the air. Some companies use the more universal system called "waterlift"rating. Its a combo of both as well. Its a more acurate way of testing as it really somes the pulling power in raw form.
panaclean775 11 months ago
@zunehdrocks The Dyson DC14 for example is one of Dysons strongest vacuums in "airwatt" rating's.It measures about 85 inch's on the waterlift scale.Your Hoovers average about the same between 80 and 90 inch's.The Meile S7 has a 112 rating. The average 12 amp single fan Panasonic averages 95 to 110.The Triforce twin fan Panasonic has a little over 130".Alot stronger! The Dyson claims no-loss but it does very quickly as the pre-filter gets dirty.Oreck has only around 40 to 50"maxx on the test.
panaclean775 11 months ago
Man if guys only new. I work at a big box store and Dyson way over priced junk. As a matter of fact we can no longer refund your money, you have to deal with dyson's warranty witch is a long drawn out shipping deal. .A Hoover wind tunnel that we sell for 169.00 Takes it to school all day.

Get a metal vacuum ?, why !!!, just strap on a few dozen bricks, that should increase the weight sufficiently.
Because thats the only gain you will get by having a metal vacuum cleaner, the dyson is light which is a design feature,so it can be carried up and down the stairs one handed, not dragged behind like a mill stone, get with the new crazy technology called plastic, if you need something to hammer nails in with then go metal by all means

stanjamv1 1 year ago
My mum had a Hoover for thirty years and it never broke, had the same mains cable on it at the end as at the start. Dysons have a habit of little bits falling off. You store the cable by wrapping it around the upper and lower holders on both vacuums, only the dyson has a nuisance clip to hold the end that Dyson are incredibly proud of. The Hoover didn't need one - the wire was made just the right length to flop over the top and the upper holder was tall enough for the wire to stay there.

phillip78 1 year ago
you do realzie that it would take you 12-15 dysons container dumps to fill a bag right?? so u dumping that container twice, isnt to spectacular.
you shelled out $700 and now ur trying to convince yourself it was a good buy. you will see how bad it is in a year when it has no suction, and you have nowhere to take it because no one does repairs on them
BELEIVE ME I KNOW, i had a dyson, thought it worked awesome, then in no time it was the biggest peice of crap ive purchased

Parwaz786 1 year ago
@werewolfsteak24 "12-15 container dumps"? Maybe you're unclear about how much a full-sized Dyson can hold? And, you do realize you need to wash the filter every 6 months (any vacuum that is), or more with heavy use. That will have the suction back just like that. Bags cost money. Even light handling at a store I work at, the Kirby vacuum bags are changed 3x a month (messes are 1/4 than what I do at home weekly). Why would I buy a bag vacuum to be changed every use? Cost of bags adds up!
sterb 1 year ago
I have a Hoover Windtunnel that uses bags and a Dyson DC14. The Hoover beats the Dyson hands down. The person in that video needs to change the bag on the hoover AND THEN do a test.

only a woman would make a video like this about vacuuming. hahah, get back in the kitchen you silly girl, you have a sandwich to make me. and when youre done, you can vacuum my mess up.
wartownkidx 2 years ago
This test proves nothing. You could have two vacuums performing exactly the same and achieve the same result.
For example, assume two vacuums both collect 90 percent of the dirt on the carpet. Both vaccuums will leave behind 10% of the dirt. When the second vacuum goes over the carpet it will pick up 90% of the remaining 10%, which is 9% of the original dirt.
Whichever vacuum is the second vacuum will win in either case.
j22downey 2 years ago 3

I can see the brushroll on the old hoover is worn out. Now put a new brushroll, belt and bag in the hoover and it WILL outperform the dyson and the cost will be about $35.00 not $500. like the dyson.

Plus, I think Dyson's effectiveness is mostly due to its roller brush rod, that appears sturdier than most other sweepers.
mediamadman747 2 years ago 2
I've been looking at all these vacuum vids cos I needed a new vacuum, my Hoover dust manager had broken down! and decided to buy a Miele allervac sensor 5000, Now I know how crap those Hoovers really are, man the Miele is the best, the suction on it is mad, I had trouble pushing it on the carpet when the knob was turned to max, it cost £139 knocked down from £199, if ur thinking of buying a vacuum believe me get a miele you won't regret it.
MindCrazedBanjo 3 years ago

Sebo, Miele S7, Riccar are your best uprights in all categories: filtration, suction, durability, etc.
cdb19279 3 years ago
just buy any cheap cyclonic vaccum, thyre all based on the same principle.or buy the best, buy miele.
themachman1969 3 years ago
not fare. the hoover cost 90 new, and dyson cost 400. It has more power for one, and well it is going to have more suction
Now do this test again, and at the end vacuum with a kirby, and you will see what is really better.
KIRBY!
Brandotuomikoski 3 years ago
actually the old hoover and the dyson have the same cfm rating.

I more fair comparision would have been to vacuum half of the house first with the Dyson, and they see if the Hoover picked up any left-overs. I have a Dyson, but the edge-cleaning is weak, and it seems the brush is weak too. I have to remove the hair from my shedding wife (lol) all the time from the brush too.
taofledermaus 3 years ago
the dc07s are designed for european carpets, they don't work nearly as well as the dc17s. i just recently replaced a dc07 animal with the dc17 animal the the difference is CRAZY. the dc07 seems to just brush the top of the carpet off but the dc17 really gets deep into your carpet. the hose is much easier to use and the filter stays cleaner longer too. also, the beater bar doesn't JAM on everything like it does on the dc07.
joshuaren989 3 years ago
You should test the $600.00 Dyson against a $50.00 Eureka and see how the Eureka out performs the Dyson. I noticed this when my Dyson was in for repair and I bought a cheap vacuum to use in it's absence. I thought the Dyson had done a good job until I notice how great my carpets look after being cleaned with a machine that was a fraction of the cost. I have now noticed that even my roomba out performs the Dyson and I don't have to push it! Try vacuuming with the dyson first!

Dyson is a British vacumn cleaner and they are better than Hoover, Bisell, or Oreck. Dyson might have some competition with Kirby. Kirby vacs are very expensive cleaning toys and really suck stuff up good.
YogaNate79 3 years ago
ha British when they make the darn thing in Malaysia If you want a REAL vacuum get a Riccar Supralite with a $279 base price it is lighter and cheaper than a Dyson yet it's built better AND has a lot more power.

GENIUS.
MylaJane22 4 years ago

seriously if you want a REAL vacuum you don't buy one of those cause you can buy a COMMERCIAL vacuum for the same price. Dyson is all hype I've tried it in Sears and wasn't impressed at all. They sold Dyson in the shop I bought the Riccar from and the guy told me he could sell me a windtunnel that could do better than that Dyson. And that Hoover was much older so it isn't fair competition, my grandma bought one of those Hoovers in 1996
Isaiah402831 4 years ago
Dyson is crap, I tried on in Sears, it didn't pick up any more than the Kenmore Progressive canister, and that sucker weighs as much as my Kirby Ultimate G I put both of them on a scale, my aunt has a Dyson so that's where I got that from and it's plastic so what does that tell you for quality? yep, there's a video on youtube of it, it's called "Riccar Supralite demo attempted..." it's put against a commercial Oreck and a Dyson Animal
Isaiah402831 4 years ago
A Dyson doesn't use filters to separate dirt and air: that's what their root cyclone technology is for. The filters you speak of? Those filter the air coming out of the vacuum cleaner. Please look things up before you make sweeping statements...its like thinking before speaking.
karmalikesme 4 years ago
i think you need you need to check the pre motor on the dyson and see how much dust and gritt get in them, the dust thats seperated goes throught the top cyclones and whatever is left is trapped by the pre motor filter thus reducing the airflow and making the machine lose suction, also take top cyclone apart and see how much crap is clogged in there, i work on dysons day in dayout, think you need think before you maake statements and do some proper research
thepigglettboys 3 years ago

hudson2424 4 years ago
why do so many people return these to sears after the salespeople tell them it's the greatest vac. People really find out the truth and end up going to a good Hoover or kenmore that uses a bag. a sure way to clog a dyson is to use it on brand new carpet. I've seen too many of these returned because they clog up.
Perry7360 4 years ago
Most of the Bissell bagless vacuums i find in the trash have clogged filters! People dont realize that all vacuums need maintnance. Bagless, or not. Cleaning filters is a dirty job, but not hard on a Bissell since they are washable.
craig1974 4 years ago
thats bullshit hoover should win.
tailsinspace 4 years ago
...Now try vacuuming again with the Hoover after using the Dyson. You will find even more dirt coming out the carpet. Oldest trick in the book for vac salesmen. The Dyson (and all other bagless vacs) make a little dirt look like alot. The clear dust bin is part of the marketing.
I would rather take the older Hoover than a new Dyson any time. That's how a repair guy sees it.
suchfunstuff 4 years ago
On another note, I'm sure that ANY vacuum will lose suction if the filters aren't cleaned, including the dyson.

headlights will blow. just like a regular light in a house. just because the headlight dosnt work dosnt mean the vacuum isnt on. my friend has a hoover and it blows headlights once a month. its caused by the vibration in the machine shaking the filaments loose.

Once again white trailerpark trash trying to compare an old middle line Hoover to a brand new Dyson. Hate to say it, but the new Windtunnel 2 would get more dirt up than the Dyson. And you would have saved 200 bucks or more. But do what you have to to justify your purchases...
BigRyan505 4 years ago
Dyson do not claim to have higher suction, just constant suction, ok the Hoover might pick up more to begin with (due to more powerful motor) but will pick up less and less the more you use it due to it blocking and loosing suction, something Dysons don't do. Get it right.
gas1883 4 years ago
filter queen was the original patent holder of the vacuum that dosnt loose suction since 1925. they designed the technology he is using. and unfortunatly his vacuums do loose suction when the filters get clogged. those filters have to be washed every month. they claim every 6 months but normal vacuuming 3x a week they get FILTHY. filter queens dont and they dont loose suction. and the air they exaust is CLEAN.
defrankond 4 years ago

Isn't that the noise it gives when the brushbar is obstructed?
